Ideological politics being edged out by ‘Swiggy politics': CM Revanth Reddy
HYDERABAD: Stating that ideology-based politics was disappearing from the country's political landscape, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday expressed concern that they were gradually being replaced by what he described as 'Swiggy politics.' 'The number of leaders committed to ideology is declining in our politics. This is a danger to democracy. The country is moving rapidly towards instability, with political managers taking centrestage and democratic values weakening,' he said. The chief minister was speaking at an event jointly organised by ICFAI and the Capital Foundation Society in Hyderabad, where he presented the Jaipal Reddy Democracy Award to economist Mohan Guruswamy. Addressing the gathering, Revanth stressed the need for ideological student politics in universities and said efforts must be made to curb the role of money in politics. 'We are gradually increasing the number of Assembly sitting days. In the last 18 months, not a single MLA has been suspended,' he said. Paying tribute to Jaipal Reddy, Revanth said that the late leader played a key role in national politics and remained in public life until his last breath. 'As a Union minister, he was instrumental in shaping policies and legislation. His oratory skills earned him the Best Parliamentarian Award,' Revanth said.

Revanth acting as proxy for Naidu, says KTR
Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao accused chief minister A Revanth Reddy of acting as a proxy for his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu and surrendering Telangana's rights over Godavari water through the Banakacharla project. Speaking at the state-level BRSV conference held at Mallapur on Saturday, KTR said that this is a deliberate conspiracy to divert surplus Godavari water away from Telangana. Questioning the silence of the Centre on Telangana's share in Godavari water, KTR demanded that the Union govt immediately clarify Telangana's rightful share in the surplus and dependable water of the Godavari River. "Of the 3,000 TMCs of surplus Godavari water, 950 TMCs must be allocated to Telangana. Similarly, of the 1,486 TMCs of dependable flows, 968 should be given to Telangana," he asserted. Stating the Bankacherla project is illegal, KTR said the constructionhas been taken upwithout the required approvals from the central water commission, Polavaram project authority, or apex council. He warned that BRS will not remain silent as Telangana's political identity and water rights are trampled upon. He also attacked the deteriorating law and order situation in Telangana, accusing the Revanth-led govt of misusing police machinery to harass BRS leaders and student activists who question the administration. Recalling the developmental achievements under former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's leadership, including the Kaleshwaram project, record welfare schemes, highest per capita income growth, and massive expansion in education and health infrastructure, KTR warned that these hard-earned gains are now under threat due to the misrule of the Congress. He urged the student community to continue exposing the injustice of Banakacharla and to take the fight to every college and university through awareness campaigns and petitions. "BRSV is not just a student wing, but a frontline force defending Telangana's rights, and that future leaders will emerge from these youth-led struggles," he said.

CM warns against ‘Swiggy politics', calls for return to ideological values
Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday expressed deep concern over what he termed as the rise of 'Swiggy politics' — a system driven by instant delivery of political gains at the cost of ideology, democratic principles, and grassroots party workers. Speaking at the S Jaipal Reddy Democratic Award presentation ceremony, the CM said, "Swiggy politics is replacing ideology-based politics. Political parties are increasingly focused on who can deliver quick results, sidelining core values. This is a dangerous trend for Indian democracy." He lamented the growing role of political managers and event management agencies in the electoral process, saying they are replacing committed party activists. "Politics devoid of ideology and dedicated workers is a serious threat to the nation's democratic fabric," he said. Paying tribute to the late Union minister Jaipal Reddy, Revanth described him as one of the most principled parliamentarians. "Though he wasn't initially in favour of Telangana, he played a crucial role in making statehood a reality. Revanth added that Congress leader Sonia Gandhi once told him she was moved to support Telangana statehood due to Jaipal Reddy's compelling advocacy.
