Left parties demand judicial probe into deaths of Maoists in Chhattisgarh encounter
In a joint statement on Friday, V. Srinivasa Rao of the CPI(M), K. Ramakrishna of the CPI, P. Prasad of the CPI(ML) New Democracy, Katam Nagabhushanam of MCPI(U), B. Bangar Rao of CPI(ML) Liberation, B.S. Amarnath of SUCI(C), P.V. Sundara Ramaraju of Forward Bloc, and Janaki Ramulu of Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSU) said that the police firings resulted in a 'massacre' in which adivasis were also killed.
The leaders of the Left parties demand that 'Operation Kagar' be immediately withdrawn and that the bodies of the deceased be handed over to their families.
Alleging that the police had thwarted a protest attempt by people's organisations in Palasa of Srikakulam district, creating unrest in the villages. Hence, the Left parties appeal to the State government not to impose restrictions on the democratic right to protest, they said.
'The public announcements by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah claiming this gruesome massacre as a great achievement of their government are objectionable. At a time when the Maoists were expressing a willingness to hold peace talks, the central government intensified the violence. We appeal to the people to condemn this violent and oppressive policy, they said.
'There is a dire need to build a democratic movement against the repression that is destabilising the lives of Adivasis and endangering their very survival. The Central government is using the Maoist threat as a pretext to hand over forest areas rich in mineral resources to large corporations.
'The Left parties declare support for the democratic movement that is rising against Operation Kagar,' they added.

‘Naxalism confined to just five, six districts', says Defence Minister Rajnath Singh
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday (July 4, 2025) declared that Maoism is now confined to just five to six districts in the country and even in such places, it will not continue for a long time. The Maoist hubs have been transformed into educational hubs. The area known as Red Corridor is now rapidly changing into a growth corridor, he said, speaking at the 128th birth anniversary celebrations of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju organised by Kshatriya Seva Samiti (TG & AP) and Union Ministry of Culture. Mr. Singh said the government has taken a decision that by March 31 next year, the entire country would be maoist-free. Referring to Operation Sindoor, he emphasised that only terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan was targeted, avoiding civil or military establishments, and adhering to ethical principles. He lauded Sitarama Raju, the legendary freedom fighter from Andhra Pradesh, as an embodiment of courage, duty and 'karma'. Similarily, the country's brave soldiers demonstrated courage, duty and 'karma' in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, he said. Quoting from Ramayan, he said, during 'Lanka Dahan', Lord Hanuman hit only those who hit him. Similarly, the country demonstrated courage during Operation Sindoor and targeted only terror structures in Pakistan and not civilian or military establishments, he said. "I would also like to say, if any such mischief (Pahalgam terror attack) takes place in future, we will give befitting to reply to terrorism with the same strength," he said. The life of Sitarama Raju, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, is also an example of social unity, he said. Mr. Singh said new technology, infrastructure development and digital revolution are very much needed for development in the context of a 'New India', but it is the "cultural soul" which can keep the country united. He affirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government is working to realise the vision of Sitarama Raju on tribal development through various central initiatives. The tenet of 'Viksit Bharat', he explained, involves taking pride in its cultural heritage, while upholding constitutional values and being inspired by the dreams of the youth. Mr. Singh also urged everyone to take the life of Sitarama Raju to every school and home. Speaking on the occasion, Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said Sitarama Raju, in the short span of his life (less than 30 years), stood as an inspiration and his memory makes the countrymen feel proud. Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy, Karnataka Minister Bose Raju, former Union Minister P Ashok Gajapati Raju and other leaders were present on the occasion.

CPI urges Naidu to seek Central aid for mango farmers in State
Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary K. Ramakrishna on Friday expressed serious concern over the plight of mango farmers in Andhra Pradesh and urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to immediately respond and initiate steps to procure mangoes through central assistance. In a statement released on Friday (July 4), Mr. Ramakrishna highlighted that while Andhra Pradesh is renowned nationwide for its mango production, farmers are currently suffering due to lack of procurement support. He noted that the Central government has already agreed to intervene in Karnataka under the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) for 2025–26, fixing the procurement price at ₹1,616 per quintal for up to 2.5 lakh metric tonnes of mangoes. This intervention came after Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan responded to a request from Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, representing Karnataka. 'It is unfortunate that despite Andhra Pradesh playing a key role in the Central coalition government, mango farmers here continue to face immense hardship,' he said. He criticised the TDP-led alliance government in the State for its inaction on the issue. 'It is disappointing that the State government has shown no initiative to address the crisis, even though the Central government is supporting Karnataka farmers.' Mr. Ramakrishna appealed to the Chief Minister to intervene immediately, hold discussions with the Central government, and ensure that a similar Market Intervention Scheme is implemented in the State to safeguard the interests of thousands of mango farmers.

10-foot bronze statue of Alluri unveiled
: State tourism minister Kandula Durgesh called upon everyone to strive for the realisation of noted freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju's ideals. On the occasion of the 128th birth anniversary of the freedom fighter, a 10-foot bronze statue of the heroic tribal leader was unveiled at the entrance of Narsipatnam. Following this, the dignitaries participated in the birth anniversary celebrations held at the Smritivanam (memorial forest) of Alluri at Krishnadevipeta, Golugonda mandal. Speaking on the occasion, Durgesh said Alluri was a first-generation freedom fighter who led a significant tribal movement and heroically fought for the rights of Adivasis. He urged the youth to draw inspiration from Alluri's fighting spirit and contribute to the development of society. He pledged to transform the region into a tourist hub and promised the creation of a tourism circuit connecting spiritual and scenic locations across Anakapalli district. He assured that the ghats and surrounding areas where Alluri sacrificed his life would also be developed. Durgesh also remarked that Alluri is a symbol of Telugu valor and that the state is officially commemorating his birth anniversary across all regions. Later, the Speaker, ministers, and MPs elaborated on Alluri's greatness and the steps required to fulfill his vision.
