Affairs, weddings, and divorces are common in Bollywood. One of the most infamous rumoured affairs was that of Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan. Though the affair was never confirmed, a lot of speculations were made. Both Amitabh and Rekha have worked in several movies. However, do you know that there was a time when, despite knowing the speculation about an affair between Amitabh and Rekha, Jaya Bachchan called Rekha for lunch and opened her heart in front of her?
Author Hanif Zaveri once revealed how Rekha came into Amitabh Bachchan's life. Though Amitabh tied the knot with Jaya, the speculations of Rekha and Amitabh growing close became stronger. Their chemistry in their films, especially in Silsila, added fuel to the fire, leading many to believe that it was a reflection of their real-life love triangle.
During his conversation, Zaveri said that Amitabh and Rekha's relationship deepened during the shooting of Do Anjaane. He recalled and said, 'This affection, this bonding, was formed during the shooting of the film Do Anjaane. They came very close, and I don't know how they fell in love with each other. But it was 100% certain that both of them started loving each other.'
Upon seeing the growing closeness, Jaya Bachchan planned to invite Rekha. After a warm lunch, when it was time to leave, Jaya, with her cutting words, said, 'Amitabh was, is, and will always be mine.'
However, a turning point came in Amitabh's life when he featured in Coolie and met with a fatal accident. It was Jaya Bachchan who had put her heart and soul into the recovery of Big B. Upon seeing this, Amitabh started to distance himself from Rekha.

Meanwhile, Puneet Issar, who was being accused of causing this blow as he was also involved in the stunt, was being targeted by those on the outside. In a recent interview, Puneet shared that he received death threats and there some accusations against him implying that he had been paid to kill the star. Puneet said that during this phase, he was let go from many projects and since he had to still earn his livelihood, he became a martial arts trainer during this time. In a chat with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, Puneet said, 'Someone said that I have been paid to kill Bachchan. They said that some star who is in the opposition… people were printing lies then. Someone wrote that Puneet Issar claims that he can run faster than a train, so people were saying whatever they wanted.' He shared that he received many threats via calls. 'People would call me at the house that we will not leave you, we will kill you,' he shared and added, 'I didn't do anything intentionally. It just happened, it was an accident.' When asked if he was fired from other projects at this time, he said, 'People wanted to avoid me. They said he has hurt someone, our film's star might feel bad. Such chatter used to happen.' Puneet shared that he was 'dropped from 7-8 films' and had no work but he still had to make a living. ‘Amitabh Bachchan almost died due to doctor's negligence': Puneet Issar recalls Coolie accident, says Big B asked him to ‘hit him, timing went off'

Amitabh Bachchan was left fighting for his life after he got injured on the sets of Coolie in 1982. Puneet Issar, who was his co-actor in the action scene, was the one who hit him accidentally during the scene and before anyone could realise, the blow ended up being near-fatal. In a recent interview, Puneet recalled that incident and shared that when he was rehearsing the action scene with Amitabh, the actor told him to touch him while throwing the punch so it doesn't look fake but somehow, the timing of the choreography of the scene got messed up and Amitabh was injured. He also implied that there was some negligence by the doctors as Bachchan's injury went from bad to worse. In a chat with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, Puneet shared that this was his first day on the set of Coolie with Amitabh. He shared that while they were rehearsing the fight, they realised that they could throw fake punches at each other while filming from certain angles but when they were taking the shot from their profile, it was not possible to cheat the shot, and so, Bachchan told him to touch him slightly so it doesn't look fake. 'It was a sequence where I was supposed to hit Mr Bachchan, where he was supposed to throw some punches, and there was a camera angle where I was supposed to catch him and throw him against the board and then catch him and throw him on the table,' he recalled and added, 'During the rehearsal, it was visible that I was not touching him so Amit ji said that you can touch me because I will back off anyway. When I banged him against the board, it was reflex action that he came forward and the timing got screwed and I hit him. It was just an accident.' ALSO READ | Mumtaz opens up on Fardeen Khan's divorce with daughter Natasha Madhwani: 'They have separated, every marriage has its ups and downs' Puneet said that things went from 'bad to worse' at a rather quick pace. 'It was negligence on the part of the doctors because they couldn't diagnose what was wrong with him, that his intestine was ruptured. If it was just a regular intestine rupture, they could have repaired it but it went from bad to worse,' he said. Amitabh Bachchan was shooting in Bengaluru when the accident happened but his situation got much worse and he was transported to Mumbai via a plane. Soon after the accident, he was declared technically dead for a few moments until he regained is consciousness.
