DP WORLD DELIVERS SAILGP FLEET TO PORT TARGETING NET-ZERO STATUS
SOUTHAMPTON, England, July 18, 2025 /CNW/ -- DP World, the Global Smart Logistics Partner of SailGP, has successfully delivered SailGP's high-performance F50 catamarans and equipment to the Port of Southampton. This marks the global racing league's return to British shores for the first times in three years, ahead of the highly anticipated Emirates Great Britain's SailGP Grand Prix in Portsmouth.
DP World Southampton, where the SailGP fleet arrived in the UK, is targeting the achievement of being the first UK port to operate as a net-zero hub, using 100% hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) to power its fleet of straddle carriers and handling equipment.
This switch has resulted in an 80%+ reduction in net emissions, offering a forward-looking glimpse into the future of portside operations.

The delivery marks another key milestone in DP World's partnership with SailGP, which sees the company oversee the end-to-end movement of critical race infrastructure across multiple continents.
From packing and transporting the carbon-fibre catamarans to coordinating port operations, DP World plays a vital role in ensuring the seamless arrival of SailGP's fleet to 12 events across the globe this season.
Following their arrival into Southampton, the F50s and accompanying infrastructure has now been transported to Portsmouth for the next stage of SailGP's international calendar, which gets underway on 19 July.
The UK event is expected to draw thousands of fans to the south coast, with DP World's logistical expertise helping to ensure the fleet is race-ready and on time.

OTTAWA, ON, July 18, 2025 /CNW/ - Yesterday, federal, provincial and territorial (FPT) Ministers of Agriculture met virtually to discuss ways to support a more resilient and competitive agriculture sector and food supply chains that make up Canada's agri-food landscape. Ministers discussed possible measures to support the hard-working producers and processors across Canada to address the emerging challenges related to international trade and the potential opportunities that could be created by increased interprovincial trade. Ministers reiterated their commitment to enhancing the effectiveness of business risk management (BRM) programs. Due to the uncertain trade environment and unfavourable climate conditions in parts of the country, Ministers agreed to take the necessary steps to implement a package of enhancements to the AgriStability program. For the 2025 program year only, the compensation rate will be increased from 80% to 90% and the maximum payment limit will be increased from $3 million to $6 million. These changes are meant to help producers manage the risks they face. In addition, for AgriStability, starting in the 2026 program year, provinces and territories will have the option to use a new inventory valuation method for inventories destined to be used on-farm. Ministers agreed to seek the necessary approvals to include feed costs associated with rented pasture as an allowable expense in advance of the 2026 program year, report back on progress at the September annual meeting and to continue a review of AgriStability allowable expenses. FPT Ministers are working together to increase interprovincial trade of food. Ministers discussed a variety of options, including ways to remove barriers to internal food trade and identify new trade opportunities. Ministers also discussed enhanced client service support from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) for small to medium-sized businesses wishing to market food products across Canada under a federal food licence, increasing slaughter capacity where possible in regions with restricted access to services, and allowing interprovincial trade of low-risk manufactured foods without a federal licence. These ideas will be informed by the two ongoing pilots on meat trade and slaughter that are being accelerated. These initiatives aim to support business growth and improve market access, while maintaining Canada's robust food safety system. FPT Ministers highlighted the critical importance of joint efforts across governments to maintain, expand and diversify international market access. In support of this work, Ministers discussed the federal Indo-Pacific Agriculture and Agri-Food Office and other resources in the region. Ministers also emphasized the importance of engaging with China at the highest level, to improve the overall trade relationship and to remove Chinese tariffs on Canadian agriculture and seafood products. Ministers also underscored the benefits of existing trade agreements and emphasized the importance of considering the impact of tariffs on businesses. David Sharpe Files Notice of Appeal in Ontario Capital Markets Tribunal Case Citing Charter Violations, Regulatory Overreach, and Procedural Unfairness
TORONTO, July 18, 2025 /CNW/ - David Sharpe, a First Nations economic leader, has filed a Notice of Appeal in the Divisional Court, challenging the Ontario Capital Markets Tribunal decision against him. The appeal raises significant legal and constitutional concerns, including abuse of process, breaches of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and unlawful public disclosure of compelled testimony. Mr. Sharpe, former CEO of Bridging Finance Inc. and past Chair of the First Nations University of Canada, did not participate in the hearing before the Tribunal. He took this position following the summary dismissal of his motion to stay proceedings, despite the previous determination by the Tribunal that OSC staff had unlawfully disclosed his confidential compelled evidence. The Notice of Appeal, filed on July 17, also challenges the constitutionality of section 17(6) of the Securities Act, a provision retroactively introduced after the unlawful disclosures to expand OSC powers. Mr. Sharpe's counsel, Brian Greenspan commented that: "The appeal engages every Canadian's right to protection from abuse of state power. When an agency such as the OSC violates its own statute and no remedy is provided, confidence in the fairness of regulatory justice is undermined."
