‘The Roses' Starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman Sets August Release From Searchlight
The dark comedy is directed by Jay Roach ('Bombshell,' 'Meet the Parents') and is written by Tony McNamara ('Poor Things,' 'The Great'). 'The Roses' is inspired by the 1989 classic 'The War of the Roses,' based on the novel by Warren Adler.

As the specialty banner describes, life seems easy for picture-perfect couple Ivy (Colman) and Theo (Cumberbatch) successful careers, a loving marriage, great kids. But beneath the façade of their supposed ideal life, a storm is brewing – as Theo's career nosedives while Ivy's own ambitions take off, a tinderbox of fierce competition and hidden resentment ignites.
Andy Samberg, Allison Janney, Ncuti Gatwa, Jamie Demetriou, Zoë Chao, Belinda Bromilow and Kate McKinnon also star. Roach, Michelle Graham, Ed Sinclair and Tom Carver are producers on 'The Roses.' Cumberbatch is also a producer under his SunnyMarch banner, alongside producing partners Adam Ackland and Leah Clarke.
''The Roses' is a wildly funny, bigger than life, and yet deeply human story,' said Searchlight president Matthew Greenfield upon the project's announcement last April. 'With Jay at the helm, and Benedict and Olivia and Tony, we have a dream team bringing it to life.'
20th Century Fox released the original adaptation of 'The War of the Roses' novel in 1989, directed by Danny DeVito and starring Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner, reuniting with an acidic bite after starrig in 'Romancing the Stone' together. DeVito's film won numerous awards and garnered one BAFTA and three Golden Globe nominations, including for best motion picture comedy.

Doechii announces 2025 ‘Live From The Swamp Tour.' Get tickets today

The Grammy-winning rapper just announced she's striking out on her nationwide 'Live From The Swamp Tour' that will take her to ballrooms, music halls, coliseums, theaters, auditoriums, parks and pavilions all the U.S. and Canada from October through November this year. At the time of publication, the 26-year-old Tampa native doesn't have an official New York gig booked while on the run. However, she will serve as one of the many headliners at this year's All Things Go at Forest Hills Stadium. Her set is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 27. Other notable stops on the North American jaunt include Chicago (Oct. 14), Boston (Oct. 19), Washington, D.C. (Oct. 21), Phoenix (Nov. 3) and Seattle (Nov. 10). She'll also lend her talents to San Francisco's annual Outside Lands (Aug. 8) and Austin City Limits (Oct. 4 and 11). 'This project [Doechii's second mixtape 'Alligator Bites Never Heal'] just turned one, and before I disappear to create the next world, I'm going back on tour, the final chapter of this era,' the self-described 'Swamp Princess' shared via Instagram. 'Thank you for the memories, the magic, the love — let's close it out together.' Prior to the tour announcement, Doechii most recently headlined at Lollapalooza. She capped her electric 15-song set by driving off in an albino alligator-wrapped car, according to Variety. Rachel Sennott's Untitled HBO Comedy Series Has Officially Wrapped Production
Rachel Sennott has a new project in the works. Last year, it was announced that her (still-untitled) comedy series was officially picked up by HBO. 'I'm so grateful to Amy [Gravitt, executive VP of HBO and Max comedy programming] and HBO for the opportunity to make this show and the wonderful team that has been a part of creating it,' Sennott said in a statement. 'And I'm going to come up with a title soon I promise!' Here's everything we know so far about the series, created by Sennott herself. Here's the official logline, per Variety: Sennott will star in the series alongside Odessa A'zion, Jordan Firstman, True Whitaker, and Josh Hutcherson. Guest stars will include Leighton Meester, Quenlin Blackwell, Elijah Wood, and Josh Brener. On June 3, Variety reported that Moses Ingram and Lauren Holt have also joined the cast. Exact character details are yet to be announced. In addition to starring in and creating the series, Sennott will also serve as a writer and executive producer.
