CALERA, Ala. (WIAT) — The Calera Police Department is encouraging the public to continue spreading the word about 72-year-old Reuben Waithaka, who was last seen on May 15.
Waithaka and his wife, Elizabeth, were visiting Alabama from Kenya to celebrate their grandson's graduation from Calera High School. Waithaka was last seen in the area of Merion Drive wearing khaki pants and a plaid button-up shirt.
According to the Calera Police Department, Waithaka was given rides by at least two people after leaving his family's home. One of these rides was to the Chevron gas station across the street from the Timberline subdivision entrance.
'We are working with federal law enforcement and trying every avenue we can to get the word out,' Calera Police Chief David Hyche said in a Facebook post Friday night. 'I recently did an interview with Kenyan national media to appeal to Kenyans with relatives in the US for help. Reuben is out there somewhere.'
Anyone with information on Waithaka's location is asked to contact the Calera Police Department at 205-668-3505.

"Imposter nurse" with 20 aliases and 7 Social Security numbers arrested in Washington County, officials say

A woman is accused of pretending to be a nurse and working at multiple facilities in the Pittsburgh area. Pennsylvania State Police and the Washington County District Attorney's Office announced that Shannon Womack is in custody and accused of working as a nurse at multiple facilities in western Pennsylvania for the last five years, and investigators say she is not a licensed professional. "The investigation showcased Womack was using the identification and nursing certifications from four different confirmed nurses from southern states," state police Trooper Rocco Gagliardi said. Gagliardi said troopers found that she worked as a licensed practical nurse, registered nurse and registered nurse supervisor. "She was acting as this RN for about five years now, and that ranges all the way from George to Connecticut. So, you have a bunch of different states in that range," he said. Womack is listed on Georgia's "nursing imposter alerts." Here are the facilities where police say she worked in Pennsylvania: According to the criminal complaint, Womack worked anywhere from one to 10 shifts. The complaint said that at each location, she was placed on a "do not retain list" for things like professional misconduct and poor performance, and she was accused of stealing drugs, including oxycodone, in some cases. The investigation began when troopers pulled the 39-year-old woman over in Cecil Township on a regular traffic stop in April. She allegedly provided aliases that had numerous active warrants. "The search warrant of the vehicle showcased multiple forms of ID, a lot of medical records were in the car, and a bunch of prescription medications that were attached to residents in health care homes or nursing home facilities," Gagliardi said. State police uncovered that Womack had about 20 aliases and seven Social Security numbers. Trooper Gagliardi explained how she allegedly went to great lengths to get the nursing jobs. "Womack obtained employment through staffing agencies and even through that point was able to create her own host agency, so she was picking up the phone and transferring those employment jobs and careers to herself," he said. The criminal complaint says she also provided fake references to agencies to clear background checks. Womack is facing nearly two dozen charges. She's charged with corrupt organizations, endangering welfare of care, unlawful use of computer, identity theft, forgery and theft by unlawful taking. "This is a vile act or acts, I should say, not only taking advantage of older citizens in this commonwealth but them not receiving the care that they need nor the medication they need because of someone that puts themself in this position to defraud them," Washington County District Attorney Jason Walsh said. State police are working with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Pennsylvania Department of State regarding all the victims of the case. Troopers expect to hear from a lot of impacted families. Arrest warrants are likely being filed in other states.

'Fantastic Four' Star Ioan Gruffudd's Ex-Wife Demands An Increase In Monetary Support For Their Kids

Alice Evans is prepared to slug it out with her ex-husband Ioan Gruffudd as she seeks an increase in the money he pays in child and spousal support since their divorce. Gruffudd is fighting against her claims and has accused her of embarking on several phony schemes "as a fraudulent way to strong-arm me into paying more support than I can afford." The "Fantastic Four" actor also accused her of manipulating their children to send him emotionally blackmailing messages parroting her claims, but Alice Evans denied it in a new court filing. Alice Evans Claims She Has 'Burned Through' Her Savings And Needs More Support From Ioan Gruffudd Alice Evans' acrimonious divorce battle with her estranged husband, Ioan Gruffudd, has reached a new fever pitch with the actress demanding urgent financial assistance from him to prevent her and their two daughters from becoming homeless. According to the Daily Mail, the former couple is set to head to court on Wednesday as Evans seeks to secure an upward review of the $4,500 that Gruffudd pays her in child and spousal support each month. Court documents obtained by the news outlet show that Evans claims she's languishing in poverty and is so broke that she had to borrow money from friends as well as set up a GoFundMe account that raised $18,000 in donations. She explained that she and her daughters, Ella and Elsie, were evicted from her L.A. home because she couldn't afford the $6,500 per month rent and has had to "burn through" her savings to pay living expenses and legal fees. Ioan Gruffudd Contends With Alice Evans' Claims Gruffudd has hit back at her claims in a court filing of his, saying that she "purposely got herself evicted… intentionally ceased paying rent and instead took the children on a vacation trip to Europe." The "Hornblower" actor stated that his ex-wife did that to "support her false public narrative of financial destitution in an attempt to further harm my reputation," as well as devise a "fraudulent way to strong-arm me into paying more support than I can afford." He also offered up subpoenaed bank records, which purportedly showed that Evans is far from being broke and made more than $130,000 in 2024 and is expected to earn a similar amount this year, a claim that Evans called "false and misleading." Ioan Gruffudd Claims Alice Evans Is Manipulating Their Daughters As He Shares Bizarre Text Messages In the legal document filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court, Gruffudd explained how he was "mortified" to have received "dozens of stressed messages from our minor children in which they have parroted Alice's false and manufactured claims of becoming homeless in the immediate future." One message read: "Mummy works very hard and also looks after us 24/7. You are avoiding the issue, which is that you don't want to work. It's not mummy's fault, it's yours. You left us, and now you can't provide for us." Another said: "You need to get a job daddy. Looking after your girlfriend is not a job. You are a father who has abandoned his children and doesn't see them or talk to them. You don't even send Christmas presents. It's pathetic and everyone sees you." "Ps, if there is enough money for us never to become homeless, then why aren't you helping us out? You hate mummy more than you love us," the message read. Alice Evans Denies Manipulating Their Kids Evans has since denied Gruffudd's claims that she's manipulating their children to send him those disturbing messages. "I absolutely did not ask the children to send messages to (Gruffudd) about our eviction and pending homelessness," she said, per the Daily Mail. "The children are well aware of our financial distress and the eviction," Evans added. The Actress Made A Public Plea For Help, Claiming She And Her Kids Could Become Homeless Evans had made a public plea for fans to donate funds to her as her financial situation had become "dire" following her divorce from Gruffudd. In a social media post, she noted that she'd hit "rock bottom" and begged fans for a spare room, explaining that she and her daughters "have nowhere to go." "I'm so embarrassed about this. If you're here, you know my story. You know how much I struggle to keep my two girls healthy and happy and a roof over their heads," she said. "You know what I've been through. It never ends. I'm just getting squeezed in every which way and smeared in the media so that nobody even wants to employ me." Solve the daily Crossword
