Nets' Trendon Watford reacts to Mikal Bridges, Knicks win over Celtics
The Brooklyn Nets are currently on vacation as they are not participating in the 2025 NBA playoffs, but there are other players that have played for the organization that are playing some good basketball right now. Former Brooklyn guard Mikal Bridges had some good moments with the team and now, he is trying to help his New York Knicks pull off an upset over the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Semi-finals.
After a Game 1 performance that saw Bridges struggle to shoot the ball well while coming up with the defensive play to seal the game in the end, he did the same thing on Wednesday In the Knicks' 91-90 win at the Celtics. Bridges stuffed the stat sheet once again as he put up 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals, including the steal at the end of the game to seal the win for New York.
After trailing by as many as 20 points in the game, Bridges and the Knicks managed to come all the way back to make things interesting in the second half, especially in the fourth quarter that New York won 30-17. Not only was Bridges clutch on the defensive end, but he stepped up to the challenge on the offensive end as well as he scored all 14 of his points in the final period.
The Knicks managed win this game to lead the series 2-0 and there were other players that helped out Bridges in the winning effort. Forward Josh Hart had one of his best games in the playoffs thus far with his 23 points, six rebounds, and three assists while center Karl-Anthony Towns bounced back with 21 points and 17 rebounds in 35 minutes of floor time.
The Celtics played well enough to build a 20-point, but they did that in spite of their stars as forward Jayson Tatum dropped just 13 points on 5-of-19 shooting from the field while Jaylen Brown struggled to a finish of 20 points on 8-of-23 shooting from the floor. In what many on social media are discussing, Boston also struggled mightily shooting the ball from three-point land for the second straight as they made of 10-of-40 three-pointers (25.0%).
In the end, Bridges and the Knicks what they had to do to steal two games on the road in Boston as they attempt to change the narrative of them not being able to beat the best teams in the East. Nets forward Trendon Watford, Bridges' former teammate, reacted to how Bridges played in the fourth quarter by saying that he caught on fire at the right time in the postseason.

Texas A&M junior shortstop selected 103rd overall by the New York Yankees in the MLB Draft

Day 1 of the 2025 MLB Draft impacted Texas A&M's 2026 roster, as junior outfielder Jace LaViolette was selected 27th overall by the Cleveland Guardians, followed by junior pitcher Justin Lamkin going to Kansas City wth the 71st overall pick, and culminating with junior shortstop Kaeden Kent going to the New York Yankees in the 3rd round with the 103rd overall selection. LaViolette and Lamkin were expected to go in the first three rounds, and while Kaeden Kent's legendary status with the Aggies was cemented after the 2025 season, his draft status was up and down, and he was not ranked inside MLB Pipeline's Top 250 prospect rankings. Yes, Kent is the son of Jeff Kent, who should be in the Hall of Fame by now, but like his son, defense was an issue throughout his career. Advertisement However, Kent improved significantly this season as a defender, while his big-game offense has produced several memorable moments over the last two seasons. Kent shot on the scene with scouts during the 2024 Super Regional round vs. Oregon, breaking the game wide open and sending the Aggies to the College World Series. Kent's career numbers in College Station include 135 appearances and 101 starts, a .290/.389/.494 slash line, 18 home runs, 100 RBIs, 23 doubles, 61 walks, a .948 fielding percentage, and just 72 strikeouts. Kent's decision to compete in the MLB Combine in Phoenix was likely a sign that led to Earley adding shortstops Chris Hacopian and Maddox Latta from the transfer portal. According to GigEm247's Carter Karels, Ken's assigned slot value as the 103rd overall pick is $744,400, which is likely too enticing to pass up. Joao Pedro says Paris St Germain ‘lost their heads' after Club World Cup final

Chelsea forward Joao Pedro felt Paris St Germain briefly 'lost their heads' as frustration boiled over following the Club World Cup final. The Brazilian ended up on the ground after becoming involved in an incident with PSG coach Luis Enrique after the final whistle blew in Sunday's final in New York. Advertisement PSG, the Champions League winners and strong favourites, crashed to a shock 3-0 loss at the hands of the Blues at the MetLife Stadium. Tempers frayed in the closing stages and the French side finished with 10 men after Joao Neves was sent off for pulling the hair of Chelsea's Marc Cucurella. Further scuffles then broke out after the game as personnel from both benches entered the field. The incident involving Pedro, one of the Chelsea goalscorers, and Enrique appeared the most serious but neither party shared much detail on what occurred. 'I don't need to talk about them,' said Pedro. 'Everyone wants to win the game and, in the end, I think they lost their heads. Advertisement 'But this is football. This has happened. Now we need to enjoy it because we won the tournament, that's it. 'I don't want to talk too much about them because you know how it works. Football is this.' For his part, Enrique said he was trying to separate players and prevent a heated situation from becoming worse. Pedro, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Achraf Hakimi were all involved in a confrontation before Enrique interjected. He appeared to raise an arm and Pedro fell down amid the melee. Enrique said: 'I have no problem expressing my feelings at the end of the game in a high level of pressure. It's very stressful for all of us. It is going to be impossible to avoid that. Advertisement 'Everybody was involved. It was not what was best and the end result of the pressure of the match. 'I have seen (Chelsea manager Enzo) Maresca. I saw he had pushed others and we had to separate all the players and I do not know where that pressure came from. 'But this is a situation we must all avoid, that goes without saying. My intention was to separate the footballers so the situation didn't become worse.'
