Nottinghamshire notched their third win of the season by their second-biggest winning margin by runs in Championship history.
Second-placed Warwickshire will bid for victory on the last day of their match at Edgbaston against defending champions Surrey, who trail by 296 runs with one first-innings wicket remaining.
Surrey resumed on 98 for one after Warwickshire had declared on 665 for five on Saturday and, although Ben Foakes in unbeaten on 85, the visitors appear set to follow on as they closed on 369 for nine.
Yorkshire are on course for their second win of the season as Essex need 456 runs with four wickets in hand on the final day after they reached 64 for four in their second innings at Chelmsford.

Visiting opener Adam Lyth took his overnight score of 79 on to a superb 185 and Jonny Bairstow contributed 79 before Yorkshire declared on 426 for six.
Division One bottom side Worcestershire face a tough task in pursuit of their first win of the season as they need 244 on the final day against Sussex at Hove with seven wickets remaining.
Worcestershire closed on 117 for three – opener Jack Libby is unbeaten on 64 – after Sussex were all out for 256 in their second innings for a lead of 360.
In Division Two, Glamorgan romped to one of their biggest Championship wins, by an innings and 161 runs against Kent, to notch their first win of the season with one day remaining.

Despite Chris Benjamin's unbeaten 94, Kent were bowled out for 212 in their first innings – Glamorgan had declared on 549 for nine – and after following on 337 runs behind, they were dismissed for 176 second time round.
Glamorgan's Timm van der Gugten and Asitha Fernando both took three wickets.
Northamptonshire leg-spinner Calvin Harrison's four for 32 on Sunday proved decisive in his side's first win of the season, by 70 runs against Lancashire.
Bottom club Lancashire, still without a win, needed 236 in their second innings for victory and reached 116 for two before losing their last eight wickets for 49 runs as they slumped to 165 all out.

Chelsea are on the verge of selling off two midfielders, who cost the club a combined £53million, to Premier League rivals. Enzo Maresca has been very busy this summer transfer window, splashing over £243m on eight new players, with Jorrel Hato the latest name through the door. The Athletic report that the Clarets have reached an agreement to sign Lesley Ugochukwu, just two years after the defensive midfielder moved to Chelsea for over £23m. The 21-year-old was a shining light in the relegated team but deemed surplus to requirements by Maresca despite having five years left on his contract. And he won't be the only midfielder leaving west London this summer, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Everton are close to agreeing a deal to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. The 26-year-old followed Maresca from Leicester to Chelsea last summer but was almost immediately linked with a transfer after struggling for game time at the Bridge. While he helped win the Conference League and Club World Cup, the £30m signing was handed just two Premier League starts and has been the subject of interest from multiple top-flight teams. Ryan Reynolds' record Wrexham transfer suddenly runs into issue as manager speaks out
Wrexham's £7.5m bid for Ipswich winger Nathan Broadhead could be in doubt as the Tractor Boys hesitate due to injuries and transfer interest in other attacking players. Wrexham's club record transfer bid to sign Nathan Broadhead from Ipswich Town appears to have hit a major snag. Reports emerged last week that the Red Dragons, owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, had made an approach for the winger in a deal worth £7.5million. All signs at the time indicated that talks over bringing the 27-year-old Wales international to the Racececourse Ground were progressing well as Wrexham look to bolster their squad ready for life in the Championship. However, the waters have now been muddied after Broadhead was used as a second half substitute in the Tractor Boys' 3-0 pre-season victory against Auxerre on Saturday. Ipswich have yet to give the green light for the move and are claimed to be reluctant at present as another of their wingers, Omari Hutchinson, is being targeted by Brentford. Meanwhile, forward Jaden Philogene suffered an ankle injury during the friendly in France, further reducing manager Kieran McKenna's attacking options. It means Wrexham's hopes of completing a deal for Broadhead are hanging in the balance, despite McKenna acknowledging the player's affection for the Championship new boys. Broadhead hails from Bangor, North Wales, and was part of Wrexham's academy during the early stages of his career before later joining Everton. Speaking after the Auxerre game, McKenna said: "I think it's well-publicised that there's interest there from Wrexham, which is a club that he has an affinity to. But he also has a great affinity to Ipswich and he's been a really, really important player for us. "I think in all these situations as a club, especially moving between divisions, there's always going to be probably more movement and more live situations than you would want in pre-season. "I think when other clubs want our players, it's also something we should be proud of because it's probably not that long ago that there wasn't as much interest in Ipswich players as there is now. "Nathan's an Ipswich player and so long as he's here, he'll be an important player for us. We're, of course, lighter in those areas than we want to be anyway, especially after today." "I think what's important as a club, as a staff, as a group, a squad, with the players, with the supporters, is that we stick together and know that there are going to be situations throughout the month of August." Broadhead joined Ipswich from Everton for £1.5m in January 2023 and played a key role in their back-to-back promotions from League One and the Championship. However, he was restricted to just seven Premier League starts last season as the Tractor Boys were relegated from the top flight. He has bagged 23 goals in 83 appearances for the club in total, but is now in the final year of his contract, with Wrexham reportedly keen on securing his services.
