My50 pass can be renewed with Touch 'n Go e-wallet from July 1
According to Loke, users can also be verified as Malaysian citizens via the e-know-your-customer (EKYC) system.
'Through the app, people can renew their My50 pass by using the NFC (near field communication) enabled TnG card,' he said here on Thursday (June 26).
At present, My50 passes need to be renewed at RapidKL counters and the process takes two to three minutes per person, he noted.
'Imagine if there are 15 customers at one time, waiting times can go over 45 minutes.
'That's why I always get complaints about long queues at (such) counters,' he said.

RM100 Cash Aid To Have RM3 Bln Retail Injection, Boost Consumption
BUSINESS By Siti Radziah Hamzah KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 (Bernama) -- The targeted fiscal measures announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Wednesday are anticipated to enhance near-term consumption, especially for essential goods and household items, according to Kenanga Investment Bank Bhd (Kenanga IB). In its research note, Kenanga IB said among the fiscal measures, the one-off RM100 cash aid to every Malaysian citizen aged 18 and above, which would be disbursed on an individual basis rather than per household, was widening the consumption impact. 'We maintain a neutral stance on the consumer sector following the government's surprise RM100 cash aid announcement under the Basic Rahmah Contribution (SARA) programme, which marks the first cash aid for all adult citizens in Malaysia and could temporarily boost near-term spending ahead of the year-end festive season,' it added. While the scale is smaller than previous stimulus rounds, Kenanga IB noted that mass-market retailers such as MR DIY, AEON, and Padini might see a modest uplift, supported by seasonal momentum and improved sentiment. It added that additional cost-of-living measures, including a 3.0 per cent cut in the RON95 fuel price, toll hike suspension, and an expanded Jualan Rahmah MADANI programme, would further ease pressure on consumers. 'All in, we estimate about RM3 billion retail injection, comprising RM2.2 billion from the new RM100 cash aid, RM300 million from Rahmah MADANI sales and RM500 million in toll savings,' Kenanga IB said. The investment bank noted that although the RM100 aid was restricted to essential items, the increase in disposable income might still lead to spillover spending and consumers were likely to reallocate some of their usual budget toward discretionary purchases. 'The impact is likely to be more meaningful for the B40 group, where RM100 represents about 4.0 per cent of monthly household disposable income, compared to 2.0 per cent for M40 and 1.0 per cent for T20,' it added.

TH To Roll Out Digital Passport Submission For Haj
GENERAL KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 (Bernama) -- Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) is working to introduce a digital passport submission system for Malaysian haj pilgrims to minimise the need for them to visit TH branch offices in person, the Dewan Rakyat was told today. Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Zulkifli Hasan said the initiative is among TH's ongoing efforts to enhance and improve efficiency in haj management for the comfort of the pilgrims. "May the administration and management of Malaysia's haj pilgrimage continue to be among the best in the world, God willing," he said when replying to a question from Datuk Adnan Abu Hassan (BN-Kuala Pilah). Zulkifli said various measures have been implemented by TH to ensure optimal management of the pilgrimage, including the introduction of a digital haj medical record book, which helps medical personnel check pilgrims' health records online. "This also aims to prevent the loss of physical medical books. In addition, the haj mobility application was introduced to assist staff in coordinating pilgrims' movements throughout the haj season," he said. Meanwhile, Zulkifli said all eligible Malaysian pilgrims successfully obtained their haj visas, including those who encountered technical issues during biometric registration via the Saudi Visa Bio mobile application. He said the achievement was the result of close cooperation between TH, the Embassy of Saudi Arabia, and relevant technical agencies. However, TH is aware that a small number of pilgrims experienced difficulties registering biometric data through the app. "The issue stemmed from technical factors such as mobile device incompatibility, inaccurate facial or fingerprint scanning, and the need for ongoing technical system upgrades in line with current developments," he said when replying to a question from Datuk Seri Dr Ismail Abd Muttalib (PN-Maran). Zulkifli said TH has taken several proactive measures to help ease pilgrims' use of the application, including providing complete guidelines and support through its official portal at for downloading and using the Saudi Visa Bio app.

Malaysia Urges ASEAN Unity To Build Integrated Semiconductor Supply Chain
BUSINESS KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 (Bernama) -- Malaysia is ready to collaborate with ASEAN partners and beyond through joint investments, research partnerships and knowledge sharing to turn regional ambitions into reality, said Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry Deputy Minister Liew Chin Tong. Speaking at the ASEAN Semiconductor Summit (ASEMIS) 2025, Liew stated that ASEAN's strength lies in unity, underpinned by its strategic location, vibrant workforce, strong innovation and manufacturing capabilities, and a growing digital economy. 'What we need now is policy alignment, infrastructure readiness and cross-border collaboration to realise this potential,' he said. Liew said that as Malaysia chairs ASEAN this year, one of its key Priority Economic Deliverables (PEDs) is the development of an ASEAN Framework for an Integrated Semiconductor Supply Chain, which is targeted for completion before Malaysia hands over the chairmanship. Moreover, he said Malaysia's sophisticated semiconductor ecosystem is well-positioned to move from outsourced manufacturing – 'Made in Malaysia' – to a new emphasis on 'Made by Malaysia': the creation of Malaysian technologies. The country aims for more Malaysian companies to evolve into multinational corporations (MNCs), innovating technologies for the world. 'Also, together with ASEAN companies, to build a sustainable and resilient value chain. Our policies should be geared towards creating Malaysian, Singaporean and ASEAN semiconductor MNCs in the future,' he said. Malaysia's commitment was reaffirmed last year when Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim unveiled the National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS), a bold and forward-looking policy aimed at positioning Malaysia as a global hub for semiconductor innovation, manufacturing excellence and advanced talent development. At the heart of the NSS is the goal to create 10 Malaysian technology companies with US$1 billion in annual revenue each, and another 100 semiconductor-related local companies with RM1 billion in annual revenue, he added.
