Transport truck damages hydro pole in Cambridge

Grandbridge Energy crews are repairing a hydro pole in Cambridge that was hit by a transport truck.
In a social media post at 1:29 p.m. Friday, the Waterloo Regional Police Service said Fountain Street South was closed between Shantz Hill Road and King Street West.
Grandbridge energy said crews were replacing the pole.
'The force of the large truck that hit the pole was tremendous as evidenced by the damage,' a social media post from the utility said.
Police encouraged drivers to find an alternate route while the repairs were completed.

TTC routes are back on a regular schedule following a Tuesday morning crash that sent two people to the hospital and temporarily detoured streetcars. Toronto paramedics tell CP24 the crash happened at around 7:15 a.m. in the Bathurst and Dundas streets area. They say two adult patients were brought to the hospital. One with serious, non life-threating injuries was taken to a trauma centre and the other person sustained minor injuries. The TTC had detoured the 511 Bathurst streetcar for a couple hours as a result. The City of Toronto says both southbound and northbound lanes of Bathurst from Dundas Street West to Robinson Street have also reopened. Police have not said the cause of the crash.

2 people hurt in taxi crash in northwest Calgary

Two people were hurt in an early morning crash on Parkdale Boulevard N.W. on Aug. 5, 2025. Two people were hurt after an early morning crash in West Hillhurst. Emergency crews were called to the scene, on Parkdale Boulevard near 27 Street N.W. at about 4 a.m. Tuesday. Police have not released any information about the crash, but it appears that a southbound taxicab somehow drifted into the centre median, where it hit a pedestrian crossing pole. EMS said two occupants of the vehicle were treated at the scene. Parkdale Boulevard was completely shut down for the crash, but police have since reopened the road. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
