Mötley Crüe's Nikki Sixx Says ‘Health Issues' Prevented Band From Performing at All-Star Final Ozzy Osbourne/Black Sabbath Show

Yahoo21 hours ago
Just about every major hard rock band of note — or at least a representative or two — made it to the stage on July 4 for what was billed as Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath's final-ever gig. The celebration of all things Ozzy at Villa Park in Sabbath's hometown of Birmingham, England featured sets from Metallica, Slayer, Alice in Chains, Anthrax, Tool, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, and many more, led by musical director Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello.
One conspicuous absence was Mötley Crüe. The veteran metal band that helped kickstart the hair metal revolution of the 1980s was nowhere to be found at the Back to the Beginning show earlier this month, and now Nikki Sixx is explaining why. When a fan wondered if 'Motley Crue wasn't invited to perform at Black Sabbath's farewell?,' asking if Sixx 'would have liked to have been there?,' the 66-year-old bassist gave a simple, if slightly vague answer.

'We have been having health issues within the band,' Sixx replied. At press time it was no known which member of the group is ailing and a spokesperson for the band had not returned Billboard's request for additional information.
Shortly after answering the fan's question, Sixx — who had a near-death experience in 1987 after a night of drug-fueled partying with members of Guns N' Roses and Ratt — posted a longer note about his own health. 'As some of you know I take my health extremely serious. I work HARD and i'm not interested in dying from work and BS STRESS .I work up my blood twice a year and WE'RE focused on always evolving health my goal,' wrote the musician who recently celebrated 24 years of sobriety.
'Just got back today's newest results and considering some misadventures in the past this 66 year old pirate ship looks ready to go back to sea,' the note continued. 'I have a wonderful wife, 5 golden children and a beautiful granddaughter. Do you think any part of my past indulgences Is worth destroying the beautiful life I built? Never. This is it. Either get your shit tighter or die a slow death crawl. We all die, some just give up sooner….I'm planning on cracking 100. That will piss off the critics.'
In April, the band bowed out of their scheduled May 17 appearance at the Boardwalk Rock Festival in Ocean City, MD due to a medical issue affecting singer Vince Neil. A month earlier, they announced that their Las Vegas residency at the Dolby Live at Park MGM — originally scheduled for March 28-April 19, had been pushed back to September due to a 'required medical procedure' Neil's doctors had suggested.
'To all the Crüeheads who were looking forward to see us this Spring, I'm truly sorry. My health is my top priority so I can bring you the awesome shows you deserve, and I can't wait to return to the stage,' Neil told fans at the time. 'Thank you for all the well wishes that keep reaching me. Your support means more than you know.'

Drake's New Single Debuts At No. 1 — But Not On The Most Important Chart

Drake's 'What Did I Miss?' debuts at No. 1 on eight Billboard charts but narrowly misses topping the ... More Hot 100, landing at No. 2 behind Alex Warren's "Ordinary." LONDON, ENGLAND - JULY 12: (EDITORIAL USE ONLY) Drake performs live on stage during day two of Wireless Festival 2025 at Finsbury Park on July 12, 2025 in London, England. Drake is headlining an unprecedented all three nights of Wireless Festival. (Photo byfor ABA) Drake is used to hitting No. 1 whenever he releases new music. The Canadian superstar typically scores a huge launch with either an exciting single or a full-length project, and his latest tune "What Did I Miss?" is no exception to this trend. The track brings the rapper back to the highest reaches on many Billboard rankings as it arrives. While it doesn't debut atop every list, including the Hot 100 — the most important of them all — it does manage to begin its run at No. 1 on multiple rosters, earning Drake even more leaders in the U.S. "What Did I Miss?" Launches at No. 1 "What Did I Miss?" debuts at No. 1 on eight different Billboard charts. The tune performs well enough to lead tallies focused on streaming activity, pure purchases, and overall consumption, but only when looking specifically at genre-focused rosters. Drake commands both the Streaming Songs and Digital Song Sales charts with 'What Did I Miss?' The same cut also manages to lead all of the following half-dozen genre-specific lists: Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs, R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales, Hot Rap Songs, Rap Streaming Songs, and the Rap Digital Song Sales rankings. Drake Extends His No. 1 Collection Drake is already familiar with the top spot on every tally he reaches with "What Did I Miss?" This week, the Grammy winner racks up his fifteenth leader on the Digital Song Sales chart, which is an impressive figure, but still the lowest number among all the rankings where he leads this frame. The same single becomes his thirty-first No. 1 on both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts simultaneously. "What Did I Miss?" Narrowly Misses the Hot 100's Top Spot Drake almost conquers the Hot 100 again this week, but "What Did I Miss?," appropriately, just misses the summit. The single kicks off its time in the runner-up spot, coming in behind "Ordinary" by Alex Warren, which is turning out to be one of the biggest songs of the year in the U.S. The track gives Drake his eighty-first top 10 smash on the Hot 100, and he extends his lead for the most placements inside that region among all artists. The same cut also becomes a top 40 hit on the Billboard Global 200, Rap Airplay, and Rhythmic Airplay tallies, debuting at Nos. 9, 21, and 36, respectively.

Morgan Wallen Matches The Beatles

Morgan Wallen lands three top 10 songs on the Hot 100 this week, matching The Beatles and Kendrick ... More Lamar with 10 frames of triple hits. LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - SEPTEMBER 23: (FOR EDITORIAL USE ONLY) Morgan Wallen performs onstage during the 2022 iHeartRadio Music Festival at T-Mobile Arena on September 23, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo byfor iHeartRadio) Morgan Wallen scores three top 10 hits in America yet again this week, as a trio of his most popular recent releases live inside the highest tier on Billboard's competitive Hot 100. All three of them are currently on the decline, pushed downward by Drake's brand new single 'What Did I Miss?,' which opens at No. 2. Another frame with multiple smash hits helps the country singer-songwriter match some of the most successful artists in Hot 100 history for a special place in the chart annals. 10 Weeks With Three (Or More) Hot 100 Top 10s This week marks the milestone tenth in which Wallen has claimed three top 10 hits at the same time on the Hot 100. Billboard notes that he is just the sixth musical act to rack up that many frames with at least a trio of appearances inside the region. With an even 10 to his credit, Wallen is now on the same level as both The Beatles and Kendrick Lamar, who managed the feat many decades apart from one another. Drake Leads, Followed By 50 Cent And Justin Bieber Drake leads all artists in this capacity, as he has landed three or more top 10 hits simultaneously on 19 occasions. He's followed by 50 Cent with 15 such instances, and Justin Bieber, who has done so 11 times throughout his career. "What I Want," "Just in Case" and "I'm the Problem" Wallen's biggest hit in America at the moment is "What I Want," a collaboration with Tate McRae. That tune debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100 less than two months ago and has remained inside the upper reaches of the list ever since. This frame, it dips from No. 2 to No. 3, pushed down by Drake's latest smash. Wallen also sits at Nos. 4 and 8 with "Just in Case" and "I'm the Problem," respectively. Both of those cuts dip slightly this time around. Coincidentally, those two tracks stalled at No. 2, missing out on adding to Wallen's growing collection of champions. Morgan Wallen's 13 Hot 100 Hits Wallen fills a lucky 13 spots on the Hot 100 this week. That's a huge number of spaces for any one artist to claim, and it's something the Grammy nominee has accomplished many times before. Wallen increases his total as "Don't We" reappears at No. 94, while all of his other 12 tunes drop from where they sat last frame.

STANS is set to examine Eminem's iconic career through the eyes of his most rabid fans over his nearly three decades in the spotlight. Slim Shady's prominent collaborators contributed to the doc along with the fans, whom he provided the soundtrack to their lives. The documentary was based on the 2000 hit of the same name, 'Stan,' which arrived in May that year as the third single from The Marshall Mathers LP. Produced by 45 King, the storytelling track about an obsessive fan peaked at No. 51 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has more than 1 billion streams on Spotify. 'Stan' has even become common vernacular in the music world for crazed fans, as the word was added to the Merriam-Webster dictionary in 2019. Eminem made his participation official when he took to social media in 2024 to call for his most diehard fans to get involved. In addition to Em's Shady Films, DIGA Studios, Fuqua Films and MTV Entertainment Studios are all on board as producers of the poignant documentary. Watch the STANS teaser trailer below.
