1 in critical condition, man arrested for impaired driving after 4-vehicle Brampton collision
Multiple people are in hospital and one man was arrested for impaired driving after a four-vehicle collision in Brampton Thursday afternoon, police say. Around 4:15 p.m., officers responded to a collision at the intersection of Highway 50 and Coleraine Drive, Peel Regional Police said on X. Police reported multiple injuries, including one person who was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition. Peel paramedics told CBC Toronto they took two people hospital with injuries. A man was suspected of impaired driving and has been taken into custody, police said. The intersection was closed following the collision, and police warned drivers to take alternate routes.

Man arrested after allegedly threatening pedestrians with knife

Winnipeg police were called to the intersection of Portage Avenue and Main Street at 6:39 p.m. Friday, following multiple reports of a man armed with a knife threatening people. According to the city, one of the pedestrians managed to escape by jumping into a passing security vehicle and calling police. Officers arrived to find the suspect still in possession of a knife. He tried to flee but was arrested near Main Street and McDermot Avenue. The knife was recovered and no injuries were reported. The man faces weapons-related charges and a charge for failing to comply with a release order.

RCMP in Halifax have charged a man who barricaded himself inside a home in Eastern Passage, N.S. The man is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court on Tuesday. He faces charges including: five counts of assaulting a peace officer two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose two counts of resisting arrest two counts of mischief one count of failure to comply with an undertaking At approximately 3:35 p.m. on Friday, police responded to a report that a man was attempting to break into a home on Cow Bay Road, according to a Saturday news release. Police said the man returned to a home on Orion Drive and refused to leave when they arrived on the scene. Police asked neighbours to shelter in place, and an RCMP negotiator was brought in to assist with the crisis, the release said. The man allegedly lit a fire inside the residence, prompting police to call fire services to the scene. An RCMP emergency response team arrived, and the man left the home but refused to comply with police instructions, the release said. The man allegedly assaulted officers while resisting arrest. Police used a Taser while detaining and arresting him, it added. Police said the man sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital by EHS. The investigation is ongoing.
