Glastonbury Festival getaway and clean-up gets underway
Thousands of weary music fans are heading home as Glastonbury Festival has come to an end for another year. It comes hours after US pop star Olivia Rodrigo headlined the Pyramid Stage and closed the festival at Worthy Farm in Somerset. The team of volunteers will begin cleaning up the site to prepare the land for a fallow year in 2026. Revellers were urged to take all of their belongings with them and to leave their campsite tidy.People were encouraged to leave the site between 00:00 and 06:00 BST to get ahead of the queues and avoid the heat, as temperatures are expected to reach up to 31C (88F).
Those beginning their journeys later were advised to cover up with light, airy clothing, carry water and apply sunscreen regularly.

The BBC says it should never have broadcast the vile rants of Bob Vylan at Glastonbury and should have cut the live stream when he started chanting 'death to the IDF'. So how did it happen? It has emerged that BBC director-general Tim Davie was himself at Glastonbury on Saturday afternoon and whilst ruling that the performance should not subsequently be available on demand, did not pull the livestream from iPlayer. Where were the protocols to ensure anti-Semitic political propaganda was not sent out unexpurgated on the airwaves, courtesy of the long-suffering licence-fee payer? And if such rules existed why were they not enforced by Mr Davie? The incident could not have come as a surprise. Glastonbury attracts all sorts of preening, self-absorbed nonentities who think they have a monopoly of moral and political rectitude. Surely someone at the BBC must have done their due diligence and suspected that an act like Bob Vylan, which revels in controversy, would land them in it. They knew of the risk because an on-screen warning was issued about the 'very strong and discriminatory language'. At the very least, BBC executives should have insisted upon a delay allowing editors to switch coverage to another act in the event of a nauseating stunt of the sort we witnessed on Saturday. The Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy told MPs she wanted to know why this act was broadcast live by the BBC and the feed was not cut. 'I want explanations,' she said. Now that we know that Mr Davie was intimately involved in this disastrous episode he must consider his own position.

The pregnant TV star, 30, and her presenter husband, 36 - who tied the knot in 2023 - will bringing their journey to becoming parents to screens, after sharing last month that they are expecting their first child. The Made In Chelsea couple - who are known for their infectious energy and no filter truth-telling - will take viewers through the steps of the next chapter in their lives in a 'refreshingly relatable series'. The docuseries will explore everything from Sophie's pregnancy to balancing their busy professional lives, as well as moving into their first family home, navigating support – and unsolicited advice. Fans will be also treated to a closer look of how the IT couple managed to build up their top-charting podcast. Disney+ promises 'head-turning' twists as the couples spend the summer living together, and production is set to begin later this year. The iconic British game show originally saw a contestant question three potential dates hidden behind a screen – which would then slide back to reveal their chosen match. Though not yet officially confirmed, it was previously reported the new version will take place on a tropical island, just like ITV 's Love Island, hosted by Maya Jama – with contestants battling it out for a dream wedding on golden sands. A TV insider previously told The Sun: 'This sounds like a radical departure from the old Blind Date, one that definitely has hints of Love Island about it. 'But fans will recall a lot of the dates took place in hot, sunny climes abroad, and producers want to recapture some of the steamy fun, and expand upon that. MAYA Jama has hit back at rumours that Love Island is a "fix" after fans claimed that producers are "too involved". The TV presenter, who has hosted nine series' of the ITV2 dating show, insisted that the show is all "real", despite producers "encouraging" Islanders to have certain chats. 3 3 3 Appearing on The Chunkz Show, Maya also admitted she refuses to find out in advance who will be dumped from the villa, saying she only gets the results the same time as the Islanders. Maya said: "I've never said the wrong name, but there are cameras constantly around and they like the dramatic pauses. "There is a lot of me saying something and then it waits. It's funny with the new Islanders, where they're not used to me saying something and then pausing for ages and they're all looking around like 'is she frozen?'.
