Delhi BJP chief accuses ILBS of labour & PF law violations
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva has written to Central Provident Fund Commissioner Ramesh Krishnamurti alleging serious violations of labour laws and provident fund regulations at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS), an autonomous institution under the Delhi government.
In a letter dated May 15, Sachdeva alleged that the employer's contribution towards provident fund (PF) at the super-speciality hospital for liver and biliary diseases is reportedly limited to only 8% of the employees' salaries, in contravention of the statutory requirement of 12%. He alleged that an equivalent amount is deducted from employees' salaries.
When asked, ILBS Director Dr S K Sarin said, 'So far, I have not received any complaint from anyone.' Sarin further said that he will look into the details as soon as he receives any official intimation.
In his letter, Sachdeva wrote, 'The specific issue relates to PF contributions being made by the institute, which, as per information received, are not in compliance with statutory requirements.'
'The salary figures submitted to the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) are shown to be lower than the actual amounts, thereby misrepresenting the contribution as compliant,' he added. This manipulation not only violates the Employees' Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952, but also undermines the financial security of the employees, he further said.
'Moreover, it is alleged that these actions are taking place with the full knowledge and complicity of senior officials at the institute. Employees, most of whom are on contractual appointments, reportedly refrain from raising these issues formally due to fear of termination and other reprisals. I am also informed that these irregularities have been going on for a few years now and largely unchecked,' he said in his complaint.
Despite attempts, Sachdeva could not be contacted for a response.

No road, ailing woman carried on cot to hospital in Simdega
Gumla: A 65-year-old woman from a remote village in Simdega was carried on a cot for nearly four kilometres to reach the nearest roadhead for her onward journey to the hospital due to lack of a pucca road. On Saturday, Gango Devi of Chundiyari village developed a severe back pain after taking a fall at her home. The lack of a road in their village meant an ambulance could not reach her doorstep. Locals of the village then stepped forward to help. They carried Gango on a cot and trekked through the undulating terrain to reach the state highway at Barpani. With the ambulance parked at the highway having broken down, locals then pooled money, hired a private ambulance and took her to the hospital. Jyoti Prakash Kullu, the mukhiya of Keshalpur panchayat, said this was not the first such instance. "On April 16, a pregnant woman from the same village was carried on cot to the roadhead and then to a hospital. Despite the issue being flagged several times, local elected public representatives and govt officials have been ignorant," he said. Besides Chundiyari, adjoining villages in Pakartarn panchayat are also facing the same problem. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 「たった10秒」ぽっこりお腹やってみて! 大正製薬 続きを読む Undo "No proposal has been made for building a road. Neither has an engineer visited the area," Rajat Lakra, mukhiya of Pakartarn panchayat, said. As the video clip of Gango went viral, BJP's state president Babulal Marandi criticised the state health department. Stating that such an incident was shameful, Marandi wrote on X, "It is a shame that such incidents are happening when the Hemant Soren govt had allocated Rs 3,497 crore for health and Rs 5,300 crore on road and bridge infrastructure. Where did all this money go? We know the answer to that." Stating that the incident had exposed the prevalent corruption in state, Marandi asked Hemant to ensure that such a thing is not repeated. Responding to Marandi's allegation, state health minister Irfan Ansari said, "The terrain is hilly and hence ambulance cannot reach Chundiyari village. I have rolled out a bike ambulance scheme to ensure people in far flung areas get the benefits of health services. Change will to show on the ground gradually." With inputs from Ranchi

Babita Phogat cycles in Delhi's Fit India initiative, promotes healthy lifestyle
New Delhi [India], June 29 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former wrestler Babita Phogat participated in the 'Fit India Sundays on Cycle' initiative in the national capital on Sunday, promoting the importance of health and fitness among citizens. Speaking to ANI on the sidelines of the event, Phogat said, 'It feels great. I urge everyone to stay healthy... If we stay healthy, not only our body but also our mind will remain healthy. A healthy mind resides only in a healthy body.' She credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for launching the Fit India Movement, which, she said, had inspired people across the country to adopt a healthier lifestyle. 'Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the Fit India campaign, and today, many people have joined to keep themselves healthy. I thank all the people who are joining the Fit India campaign,' she added. Meanwhile, over 15000 participations from more than 500 locations in the country is expected this Sunday, with the movement being consistently organised in deep pockets like Chitradurga (Karnataka), Solal gaon (Assam), Janjgir Champa (Chhattisgarh), Pandharpur (Maharashtra), and more, a release from the Union Sports Ministry noted. Speaking ahead of the special edition, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya said, 'The Fit India Sundays on Cycle initiative resonates with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to action for a healthier, cleaner and more active India. Taking this people's movement forward, the upcoming edition will be particularly meaningful as our 'Swacchata Senanis' come together to uphold the essence of the nationwide cycling drive.' The Sports Minister has also urged all municipal bodies and urban local bodies across states to replicate the event in their own regions, ensuring maximum participation and visibility. Launched in December last year, with just 500 cycling enthusiasts, the Fit India Cycling Drive has since evolved into a national movement. As of now, the movement has been organised in more than 10,500 locations across the nation with the participation of more than 3.75 lakh individuals. These cycling drives are conducted by several Khelo India Centres (KICs), Khelo India State Centres of Excellence (KISCEs), SAI Training Centres (STCs), Khelo India Accredited Academies (KIAAs), and National Centres of Excellence (NCOEs) across the country. NIMHANS Northern campus in Bengaluru gets Centre's nod
BENGALURU: The Union Government has granted in-principle approval for the construction of a 300-bed Post-Graduate Polytrauma Centre under the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) at Kyalasanahalli near Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), Bengaluru. The facility, estimated to cost Rs 498 crore, is aimed at providing advanced emergency and trauma care to accident victims in and around the Bengaluru region. The approval was issued by the Department of Expenditure under the Union Ministry of Finance, following a proposal submitted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). The land for the project, measuring 39 acres, had been allotted to NIMHANS in 2012-13, during the tenure of the BJP-led state government in Karnataka. The proposed facility will serve as NIMHANS' Northern Campus and will include not just the trauma hospital, but also residential quarters for staff, hostels, guest houses, administrative blocks, and other support infrastructure. The Finance Ministry has laid down several conditions for the project. These include optimising manpower and infrastructure as recommended by NITI Aayog in its 2021 report, ensuring the trauma centre also caters to regular patients, and monitoring outputs and outcomes regularly for mid-course corrections. The ministry has also asked the Health Ministry to frame a long-term national policy for emergency and serious injury care. The Centre will provide critical care for patients suffering from multiple and complex injuries, particularly head, brain, chest, abdomen, and skeletal trauma, during the crucial 'Golden Hour.'
