Mum of missing Brit receives chilling mystery messages year after son vanished
The heartbroken mum of a missing Brit who vanished while on holiday with his apparent girlfriend was sent chilling messages about her son's disappearance a year later.
Michael Frison, 26, disappeared while camping in Sardinia, Italy - and his mum believes he was with Jersey-born Niomi Orlandini, who he met online in July 2024 having arrived just days earlier to volunteer on a farm.
Mum Cristina Pittalis, 49, started a campaign to help find her missing boy - however, as reported by the Mirror, she revealed she received messages from a mystery account. One read: "I tried to believe it was an accident."
Cristina, originally from Sardinia but living in Chard, Somerset, said she believed the Facebook account sending her these "anonymous and disturbing" messages was by "someone with insider knowledge".
The devastated mum said the words from the Facebook account "reference guilt, fear, and the inability to remain silent", according to The Sun. The mysterious messages said: "You cannot live a lie without it finding you eventually.
"I've seen it in nightmares. This isn't about blame, it's about the silence that eats away. I tried to forget. I tried to believe it was an accident. But the fear… it doesn't go."
Michael vanished on July 13, 2024 - just days after arriving on the Italian island. Despite extensive searches of nearby woodlands, caves and mountains, no trace of him has ever been found.
Cristina has since moved back to Sardinia, with her 11-year-old son, to desperately try and find Michael, as she urged Interpol to investigate his missing person case. The mum said he flew from Bristol Airport to Olbia on July 2, 2024, and drove to his grandparents home to celebrate his 25th birthday and his grandma's 70th.
According to Cristina, Niomi asked to join Michael on his travels and he cancelled his return flight to the UK in order to stay with the woman for a week, according to The Sun. His mum said the pair went to volunteer on a local farm, owned by a German couple. Michael and Niomi reportedly slept in a tent about "100 metres away" from the German couple, who stayed in a campervan.
Cristina revealed the last message her son sent before he vanished, saying: "He texted me saying he was going to sleep and that he'd call me tomorrow. He ended it with a heart emoji." Michael had reportedly gone out for a walk and returned in a confused state, showing signs of heatstroke.
He then left again - this time barefoot - and never came back. His clothes and trainers were later discovered nearby the site. Despite this, Cristina believes the heatstroke theory doesn't add up saying it was "extremely unlikely" he would suffer in the heat, as he'd previously lived on the island, and said it was "completely out of character" for him to abandon his belongings and wander off. She also called on Niomi to step forward with any information.
She said Michael's younger half-brother Emanuele, whose father died in 2017, was "devastated" by his brother's disappearance. She said: "The three of us were extremely close, the two of them, they used to do everything together. It's horrible, he lost his father and now he lost his brother."
A friend of Cristina's previously launched a GoFundMe to support the family's search efforts, raising over £10,000 to help cover travel, legal costs, and awareness campaigns.

British expat gored in front of horrified crowd during bull run in Spain
Spectators at an event in Spain were left horrified after a British expat was injured by a bull who became separated from the pack. He remains in hospital after sustaining a leg injury A Brit expat has been hospitalised with a gored leg after he was rammed by a bull during a busy event. The man, aged 47, was watching the performance, organised by the Passio pels Bous bullfighting association, when a bull from the pack charged at him in the town of Pedreguer, Spain. The animal hurled the man against a protective barrier, injuring his leg. Workers at the event rushed over to help the resident and took him to a transport station. A doctor said that the man had also suffered major nose injuries. He was taken to Denia Hospital and underwent a CT scan but had suffered no internal damage. The man, who frequently attends bull events, remains in hospital at this time, reports Olive Press. It comes after five people were hospitalised on the first day of the Running of the Bulls festival in Pamplona old town. The victims, all described as men aged between 21 to 49, were injured after the animal escaped. One man sustained a serious chest trauma injury and multiple rib fractures. One person who took part described the ordeal and said: 'It was panic out there today. It's a miracle if only one person ended up getting gored. It could have been into double figures.' One of the bull's became separated from the rest of the animals and threw one runner into the air. The 90 stone ( 575 kilo) bull, called Caminante, slammed the man down onto the ground. A Red Cross representaive said one person had suffered a gore wound and had been among five people taken to hospital. The victim is said to have been gored in the arm.

Family releases pictures of couple killed in house fire
Peter Eric Greener, 77, known as Eric, died on Wednesday night, and his partner Sheila Jackson, 83, died on Thursday morning following the fire at their home on South John Street in St Helens in the early hours of Tuesday. Merseyside Police has said an accelerant was used to start the blaze. On Friday, pictures of the couple, including one showing Mr Greener with his arm around Ms Jackson, were released by their families through police. A force spokesman said: 'We are still in the early stages of the investigation and part of our initial inquiries will be to establish why the fire was started at their house. 'We are appealing for anyone with information to come forward, particularly if you live in the area of South John Street and recall seeing or hearing anything suspicious at around the time of the incident.' Earlier this week, Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath said: 'This is a truly shocking incident and I'm sure that the community and everyone in Merseyside will be utterly appalled at what has happened. 'It's difficult to comprehend how someone could deliberately start a fire while two elderly people are inside the home. 'It's absolutely sickening, and we are determined to find the person or people responsible.' Anyone with information should contact Merseyside Police by calling 101, quoting incident reference 25000580909, or through social media via X @MerPolCC or on Facebook at Merseyside Police Contact Centre.
