
Mass Yoga demonstration held at Mahanandi
Speaking on the occasion, Raja Kumari emphasized the significance of incorporating yoga into daily life to attain physical well-being and mental peace. She noted that this state-wide initiative, launched in the run-up to International Yoga Day on June 21, is being implemented under the slogan 'Yoga for One Earth – One Health.'
She highlighted the health benefits of regular yoga practice and reiterated the State Government's vision to ensure a happy and healthy population by 2047 under the Swarnandhra mission. She said the Yoga Andhra campaign is being held across key tourist and spiritual sites such as Srisailam, Mahanandi, Ahobilam, Belum Caves, and Pacharla Jungle Camp through well-structured planning.
Speaking at the event, Joint Collector Vishnu Charan said that yoga activities are being conducted throughout the month at the village, mandal, and district levels as part of the government's directive. He added that competitions in three categories are also being organized across the district.
Earlier in the session, Yoga Guru Asha from the Ramachandra Mission and her team led participants through various yoga asanas such as Vrikshasana, Vakrasana, Setu Bandhasana, Tadasana, Uttanapadasana, Pavanamuktasana, Ardha Chakrasana, Shalabhasana, Ustrasana, Padahastasana, and Dandasana.

Ten students fall ill after consuming khichdi at State-run school for girls in Khammam
Around ten students were taken ill after reportedly consuming khichdi at the Tribal Welfare Ashram High School for girls in Kalluru town of Khammam district on Monday. Sources said that several students complained of nausea and stomach ache after having breakfast at the school on Monday morning. They were rushed to the local Community Health Centre and their condition is stated to be stable. Mandal-level officials of the Revenue and other allied departments visited the hospital and enquired about the health condition of the students. The cause of illness is suspected to be a 'half-cooked' dish, sources added. Meanwhile, various student organisations sought immediate steps to prevent reoccurrence of such incidents in State-run residential schools and welfare hostels.

Collector conducts surprise inspection of PHC in Srisailam
Srisailam: District Collector G Raja Kumari emphasized the need for doctors to remain accessible to patients and provide them with quality healthcare services. On Sunday, she conducted a surprise inspection of the Primary Health Centre (PHC) and Community Health Centres (CHCs) in Srisailam, assessing the functioning and infrastructure of these medical facilities. During her visit, she stated that the State government is giving high priority to public healthcare, allocating significant funds to support the medical needs of the underprivileged. She urged doctors at government hospitals to approach their duties with empathy and ensure the poor, who often cannot afford private treatment, receive timely and effective care. She directed healthcare personnel to improve maternal care services and increase institutional deliveries at PHCs. She stressed the importance of ensuring that essential medicines are always available to patients and instructed staff to maintain cleanliness in and around hospital premises. As part of the inspection, she reviewed data on the number of deliveries conducted monthly, daily patient visits, availability of doctors and staff, and the presence of essential medical equipment in all wards. She personally interacted with medical staff and patients to understand existing challenges and encouraged the team to work diligently to enhance the hospital's reputation and service quality.

Nalam Kaakkum Stalin rolled out in Nagapattinam District
Following the formal launch of the Nalam Kaakkum Stalin scheme by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in Chennai on Saturday, a health camp under the initiative was held at the Government Higher Secondary School in Karapidagai, Keezhaiyur Panchayat Union, Nagapattinam district. District Collector P. Akash visited the camp and reviewed its operations. He was joined by Tamil Nadu Fisheries Development Corporation Chairman N. N. Gowthaman and Kilvelur MLA V.P. Nagai Mali. The Nalam Kaakkum Stalin scheme is an extension of the State's public health outreach efforts, which include flagship initiatives such as Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam, Innuyir Kappom, Nammai Kaakkum 48, Varumun Kappom, and Nadappom Nalam Peruvom. Under this scheme, comprehensive full-body health check-up is conducted in community-based camps. Special provisions are made for early screening of cancer, including oral, breast, and cervical cancers. Eligible individuals can be enrolled in the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS) at the camp site. Test reports and documentation will be issued on-site, assisting patients in pursuing treatment when necessary. At Karapidagai camp, medical test reports and CMCHIS health cards were handed over to beneficiaries by the Collector and accompanying dignitaries. Velankanni Municipal Chairperson Adayana Shyamila, Vice-Chairperson Thomas Alva Edison, Government Medical College Dean R. Vijayakumar, and Deputy Director T. Uma (Welfare), along with senior medical staff, nurses, and health inspectors were present.
