Mayor Kraham comments on recent attacks on Jewish community
Kraham issued the following statement:
'Following the horrific terrorist attacks in Colorado, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania, I am deeply troubled by a growing wave of antisemitic violence and hate across our nation.
'We must fiercely condemn these acts of violence and reject hateful antisemitic rhetoric of all kinds. They have no place in our community, our government or our politics.
'Over the last few weeks, I've been in touch with Binghamton's Jewish faith leaders to reaffirm the City's commitment to the safety of our Jewish friends and neighbors. The Binghamton Police Department will continue to work closely with places of worship and faith-based community organizations to ensure security and peace of mind.'

Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville blasted New York democratic socialist mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani's refusal to condemn the phrase 'globalize the intifada,' which is associated with violence against Israel. Queens, New York State assemblyman Mamdani, a Ugandan-born Muslim with Indian heritage, won the race to become the Democratic Party's nominee for New York City mayor, but Republicans and even some Democrats have blasted the democratic socialist as too extreme. Carville called Mamdani out during an appearance Tuesday on 'The People's Cabinet' podcast after host Daniel Koh mentioned the popularity of some of his economic ideas in New York City. While Carville agreed the emphasis on affordability is similar to some of his own core ideas, he noted that there are generational sea changes happening in politics. 'Yeah, I mean, come on, man, just, s—, just get it out your mouth,' Carville said in frustration. 'Why do you think he won't do that?' Koh asked. To most people, myself, it means, you know, 'violence.'' According to the American Jewish Committee, the phrase 'calls for people from around the globe to participate in rising up against Israel.' Sergey Brin, the co-founder of Google parent company Alphabet (GOOGL), has accused the United Nations (U.N.) of being 'transparently antisemitic' following a report that was published alleging technology firms profited off the 'genocide carried out by Israel' in Gaza. The U.N. reportedly calls out big technology companies such as Alphabet for their connections to Israel. An angry Brin called the U.N. 'transparently antisemitic' during an internal forum with employees of Alphabet, according to multiple media reports. Brian was apparently angry that the U.N. report accuses Google and its parent company Alphabet of profiting from the war between Israel and Hamas by providing cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to the Israeli government and military. 'Deeply Offensive' Brin wrote in a forum for staff at Google DeepMind, the company's AI division, 'With all due respect, throwing around the term genocide in relation to Gaza is deeply offensive to many Jewish people who have suffered actual genocides. I would also be careful citing transparently antisemitic organizations like the UN in relation to these issues.' Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly said that the war is a defensive act after Hamas attacked Israel, killing 1,195 people and taking 251 hostages on Oct. 7, 2023. Brin's comments were reportedly made on a Google Chat forum that has nearly 2,500 members, most of whom are AI researchers at the company. Brin has said in the past that he and his Russian Jewish parents immigrated to the U.S. to escape the antisemitism they faced in the former Soviet Union. He remains on Alphabet's board of directors and is still actively involved with Google, particularly in AI research. GOOGL stock has declined 7% this year. 'I'm a frame person,' he declared as he spoke about portraits. 'Sometimes I like frames more than I like the pictures.' He spoke of flags, clocks, lamps, medallions, and more. Then the conversation took a golden turn as Trump spoke at length about the room's moldings and whether they would look better with gold leaf or gold-colored paint.
