Rainfall update: IMD's red alert in Assam, Meghalaya, 3 more states; Delhi-NCR braces for more showers
The weather department in its latest weather bulletin alerted against 'extremely heavy rainfall' at isolated places over Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on August 3.
'Extremely heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Kerala and ghat areas of Tamil Nadu on 05th August,' IMD stated amid fisherman warning for coastal areas adjoining Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal until August 7.
Isolated heavy rainfall warning is in place for the following regions: In Tamil Nadu, Kerala until August 8
Over coastal and North Interior Karnataka between August 5 and 8.
Over coastal Andhra Pradesh over the next 2 days and in Rayalaseema until August 6
In Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab over the next 3 days
In Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh until August 6.
In Uttarakhand until August 8
Over East Uttar Pradesh and northeast Rajasthan until August 5.
The weather agency states, 'Isolated heavy rainfall likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim' until August 8; 'Gangetic West Bengal on 07th; Jharkhand on 03rd" and in Bihar until August 4, on 7th and 8th.
'Madhya Pradesh on 03rd & 04th August with isolated very heavy rainfall over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim on 04th; Bihar on 03rd August.'
For August 4, an orange alert for heavy rains is in place for Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Sikkim, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.
No rainfall alert for Delhi-NCR is in place, although the national capital received intense showers on Sunday morning. As per IMD's weather forecast dated August 2, the skies across Delhi-NCR are expected to remain 'generally cloudy.' IMD forecasted a few spells of light to moderate rain and thundershower. The maximum and minimum temperatures in Delhi are likely to settle around 31 to 33 degrees Celsius and 24 to 26 degrees Celsius respectively.

Light rain and humid weather recorded in Delhi on sunday
New Delhi: Parts of the city experienced light to very light rain on Sunday morning, even as several areas recorded rain from late Saturday night until the early morning hours. India Meteorological Department (IMD) earlier forecast that the city was likely to see light to moderate rain on Monday. However, it later revised this to light to very light rain, and no colour-coded warning was issued. Meanwhile, no major rain occurred on Sunday, while the day turned humid with a heat index or 'feels like' temperature of 43.9 degrees Celsius at 3 pm. Isolated areas of the city recorded drizzling, with Pragati Maidan recording 0.1mm and Pusa recording 0.5mm of rainfall respectively between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm. IMD issues orange alert in 8 districts of Gujarat
Gandhinagar: India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Mahisagar, Aravalli, Gandhinagar, Mahesana, Khera, Sabar Kantha, Dahod, and Panchmahal districts of Gujarat. Moderate rain and thunder showers are expected to take place in these districts, which can cause waterlogging, leading to traffic congestion.
