Race 7: 1, 2, 5

INSIDE MAIL - TAMWORTH
RACE 1: Dutton Electrical Mdn Plate 1000m
SHE CAN DANCE (7) was sold for $100,000 to Tracey Bartley at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale. Born and raised at Newhaven Park. This stunning black coloured filly is by Lonhro and is a full-sister to Group 2 winner Heatherly. Form reads poorly but she is first-up off a very nice Wyong trial. CAPSITY (8) is a two-year-old taking on older horses, on debut as well, but has shown enough in her trials to suggest at least some degree of talent.
Bet: She Can Dance to win
â– â– â– â– â–
LIBBY (7) has placed at five of her nine starts. Ridge Wilson has given the daughter of Reliable Man the beautiful lead-in to 2100m. IMEZAAKI (2) has been with Craig Clegg here at Tamworth the last two of his 19 starts. So far as his resume is concerned, the son of Ocean Park is a Hawkesbury winner and was third in the Group 3 Grand Prix no less. Gives the impression he wants 2100m now. SHAMISTER (5) was beaten an inch over 2200m at Dubbo last Sunday.
Bet: Libby to win, box trifecta 2, 5, 6, 7
â– â– â– â– â–
PRIDE OF NATIONS (13) is trained here by Sue Grills. The filly was $11 to $26 on debut here on June 16 and only beat one home. Only a hunch but she is surely better than that. Hunch number two is; the Kermadac progeny are mostly swimmers so maybe this filly will go better on the Heavy. YANABAH (7) has run nine times for four seconds and a third and a few of those seconds were by very slender margins. HALLE BEE (9), likewise, is consistent.
â– â– â– â– â–
ARTIE'S MAGIC (6) is another of the Sue Grills brigade. This one is by Flying Artie (naturally) from a Pins mare out of a pretty good New Zealand family of milers, 2000m and even the odd two-miler present. Artie's Magic was $6 to $8.50 on debut here on June 16 and held his ground admirably when midfield. Won't be a maiden for long. LOUISBURGH (2) and JUSTICE WARRIOR (1) have been nominated for other races next week closer to their homes. If they're out, SNAP DECISION (4) goes in.
Bet: Artie's Magic to win
â– â– â– â– â–
BETTER TOMORROW (3) has drawn wide and doesn't have the best record on wet tracks so we could see this Lonhro gelding saved for Saturday's Mungindi Cup. In the event he is absent, all roads lead back to the local ARRABBIATA (11) who, quite literally, hasn't put in a bad one for Melissa O'Gorman and regular jockey Mikayla Weir. Not saying she can't win on Heavy but any improvement would be of great benefit. THE GREAT ARMADA (4) has been running well in some very strong races lately.
Bet: The Great Armada each-way
â– â– â– â– â–
CRESTA RUN (4) is a daughter of Your Song who won his Group 1 by panels on a Heavy track. This filly has finished runner-up at her only two starts on a Soft so the track perhaps is less of a worry than it might be. Same goes for the wide draw, there will be plenty of scratchings. ATOKA (18) is one of the best roughies on the day in my opinion, but only if it is Heavy. TAKEOVER LAD (3) from the astute Wayne Brown camp has all the form and consistent nature to play a major role
Bet: Cresta Run to win, Atoka each-way
â– â– â– â– â–
RACE 7: L & K Electrical & Air Conditioning (Bm58) 1200m
CHEAP GAS (5), the cleverly-named son of Santos, is trained at Mudgee by Derek Piper who has managed to secure Aaron Bullock for the ride here. He's also managed to find himself on the receiving end of a desirable barrier and on top of all that, Cheap Gas was a monumentally impressive winner at his only Heavy run. HOLLYWOOD GOLD (1) is an emergency for Saturday's Highway which illustrates how well this talented son of Casino Prince is going at the moment.
Bet: Cheap Gas to win
â– â– â– â– â–
ZAKOR (2) has been a good horse dating back to when he broke his maiden status at this track over this same 1000m trip. He has gone on to win three more together with 10 placings, some of them in provincial company. Slow is better than heavy for him seemingly. OUR BOY OLLIE (1), the local with Bullock on, is such a genuine and consistent racehorse. Handles the Heavy without being a muddie. WHO GOES THERE (3) is unbeaten in all three starts at this (home) track and trip.
Bet: Zakor to win

Peter Snowden unearths spring contender with Raging Force bringing up hat-trick at Rosehill

Don't miss out on the headlines from Horse Racing. Followed categories will be added to My News. Raging Force, Sydney's winter two-year-old sprint find, seems destined for stardom after another exciting win at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday. Champion jockey Tommy Berry is the number one ticketholder in Raging Force's growing fan club after a dominant win in the Thank You ATC Members Handicap (1100m). Berry said the promising young sprinter is simply 'too good' to be racing at this stage of the season. • PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. SUBSCRIBE NOW! 'Raging Force definitely has stakes potential,' Berry said. 'He is still learning his craft but I loved the way he took that gap in the straight. 'He still has to make more improvement which I think he will. He's improving with every start and you don't see how good they are until they race against the better quality of horses because that brings the best out of them.' Trained by the maestro Peter Snowden, Raging Force was confidently backed into $1.70 favouritism and completed a hat-trick of wins when he scored easily by 2¼ lengths from Horseshoe Hill ($7) with nearly three lengths to Lull ($21) third. Raging Force showed promise at the early season barrier trials but pulled up sore when unplaced on debut in the Breeders Plate. Snowden gave the two-year-old plenty of time to recover and waited until winter to take the gelding back to the races, winning the Red Crown at Muswellbrook first-up, then winning by a big margin at the Kensington midweeks before making the rise to Sydney Saturday grade look routine. 'Raging Force was very good today,' Berry said. 'I was very proud of the way he reacted to the situation that unfolded in the first furlong and a half. 'When he jumped so well I was a bit positive to try and hold that lead but they went quick and I let them cross. 'He got his head up for two or three strides but then came back under me. It just shows his versatility, how 'smart' he is now and how much he is willing to work with us. 'I could have sent him to the line without the stick today but I did that last time and I thought I would help him find the line as he has tougher tasks ahead. 'I still feel he will be better at 1200m and 1400m when he can get into a rhythm, relax, and it is not all 100 miles an hour. He is simply too good for them at the moment.' Raging Force continues the outstanding season of leading syndicator Scott Darby of Darby Racing which has already yielded more than 100 winners including the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes, Group 2 wins in The Ingham, Shannon Stakes, and Ajax Stakes, Group 3 wins in the Sydney Stakes, Brisbane Cup, Sweet Embrace Stakes, Newcastle Stakes, Parramatta Cup, Queen Elizabeth II Cup and Liverpool City Cup, plus a host of Listed races. 'I purchased Raging Force at the Classic Sale for $150,000. We bought him purely on type, he is a lovely horse,' Darby said. 'He will have two weeks off then we will plan a spring campaign for him.' The promising rising three-year-old is a son of Snowden's former crack sprinter Cosmic Force, winner of the 2019 Pago Pago Stakes by seven lengths before finishing unplaced as favourite to Kiamichi in the Golden Slipper. Snowden wasn't on track at Rosehill but his stable representative Aaron Lau confirmed there are plans to set Raging Force for some of the better three-year-old races in spring. 'We're going to tip him out for a couple of weeks. Obviously, the spring isn't far, it will be on our doorstep very shortly,' Lau said. 'We just wanted to get today over and done with and see where he stood. He was up against a few last start winners and Bjorn's horse (Baker, trainer of Horseshoe Hill) goes very well, as does Blake Ryan's, he rates his horse (Just Awesome) as well so it was nice to see Raging Force do it today. 'He's got a great attitude, a lovely, big action and he's probably better on top of the ground as well. He's very progressive and it's exciting going forward.' Raging Force's hat-trick of winter wins means he is 'officially in the black' with nearly $170,000 prizemoney – and the promise of a lot more to come. Berry said Raging Force's improvement from race to race was evident in the first 200m of his Rosehill Win. 'All he wants to do is relax and when he jumped he put his head straight on his chest but I thought we will end up three pairs back on the fence so I had to push him along to hold the lead,' he said. 'Then they wanted to go too quick so I asked him to come back and after a couple of strides he was sweet. 'I stayed about a length and a half back so I had options to go around them if I needed but I could see Regan's horse (Bayliss on Just Awesome) runs around a bit. I thought he is going to give us some room at some point and he did. 'But I think Pete's masterstroke was to take him away to Muswellbrook and then even after that another trip away to Wyong for the trials as education. 'He may have still won those two races anyway but I don't think he would have executed as well today if he had not had those trips away.' TBirds star's telling call on Super Netball's big hits as three-peat bid heats up

Adelaide Thunderbirds defender Matilda Garrett says her team has been instructed to avoid making big hits as Super Netball's physicality has gone up a notch this season. The Thunderbirds are fourth on the ladder with two rounds remaining this season — after beating the Melbourne Vixens last weekend, they take on the Melbourne Mavericks and Sunshine Coast Lightning in the run to finals. Watch every game of the 2025 Suncorp Super Netball season, LIVE on Kayo. New to Kayo? Get your first month for just $1. Limited time offer. Netball has always been a contact sport but there have been some particularly heavy collisions on court this season as players go flying, desperate to get a hand on the ball and force a deflection. Earlier this season there was a brutal collision as Mavericks skipper Amy Parmenter got crunched by Firebird Macy Gardner, which sparked debate over whether it should have been a send-off. In another big hit, Swifts defender Tegan O'Shannassy crashed to the court after contesting a ball with Giants star Jaime-Lee Price. Speaking to Garrett said the TBirds aimed to 'stay in play' and avoid giving away penalties for big hits where possible. 'You know, there's so many strong bodies on the court,' Garrett. 'Specifically, I can talk on behalf of the Thunderbirds, we're always trying to be as clean as possible. 'Cathy Fellows, who is the mastermind behind our defensive game plan, she always will tell us to pull out if we're going to get called by the umpire because you want to continuously be applying pressure and as soon as the whistle is blown, then the pressure's no longer there. 'So I think for us, we're always continuously trying to stay in play and apply pressure as best as we can. 'In terms of the physicality of the season, I think it's hard to win intercepts and to win balls. 'So yeah, potentially that's where it might be perceived that the physically has increased, but I think it's been around for a few seasons now.' It would be an incredible achievement given the TBirds have been without star goal keeper Shamera Sterling, who announced her pregnancy on the eve of the season. Garrett, who has made her Australian Diamonds debut in recent years, has been swapping GK and GD bibs with fellow Jamaican star Latanya Wilson in the defensive circle. 'I am probably more comfortable playing goal defence, but I think it's been an awesome opportunity to have a goal at keeper,' she said. Plenty of teams have gone back-to-back to win domestic netball premierships, but the Thunderbirds are striving to outdo some of the greatest teams ever by winning three titles in a row. But the TBirds will have to get past pre-season favourites the NSW Swifts and the West Coast Fever, who have won 10 games in a row. 'It would mean the absolute world to us,' Garrett said about the prospecting of winning three premierships in a row. 'We know how hard it is to make finals, let alone win premierships. We're in a pretty cool position, but we're just gonna take it game by game and we've got to worry about this weekend and hopefully getting a win. and then one more game as well to try and secure finals. 'Then who knows what can happen in finals.' Garrett was full of praise for the Thunderbirds not-so-secret weapon George Horjus, who switched from wing attack to goal attack in last week's win over the Melbourne Vixens. 'Georgie just an absolute workhorse and she's extremely versatile,' Garrett said. 'It's pretty incredible. There's not many people that can play both goal attack and wing attack. 'She is just so seamless. Last week she started in wing attack and then was swung over into goal attack and her ability to go in and still be as accurate as what she is, is a credit to her. 'She just does so much work in our front line and she's also a big playmaker in both positions, which is pretty threatening. Georgie is a is a huge asset to our team.' Every match of round 13 is available to stream via Kayo Freebies or BINGE.
