Ayurveda Expert Shares Why Neem Is The Ultimate Monsoon Skin Fix

Last Updated: Known for its antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and detoxifying properties, neem is the ultimate ingredient that can help treat all monsoon skin problems. The monsoon may bring welcome relief from the heat, but it also introduces a host of skin concerns, such as excess oil, fungal infections, breakouts, and irritation due to high humidity. Thankfully, nature offers a powerful solution in Neem, an age-old Ayurvedic remedy known for its antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and detoxifying properties. ' Neem is a versatile and time-tested herb that helps restore balance to the skin, especially in seasons like the monsoon when moisture and pollution aggravate common skin conditions," says Dr. Bhavana S. Gaitonde, Ayurveda expert at Himalaya Wellness Company. From acne control to dandruff defence, incorporating Neem into your daily routine can significantly reduce the seasonal toll on your skin and scalp. 1. Clarify Oily Skin with a Neem Face Pack Humidity often triggers excess sebum production and clogged pores. A neem face pack made with neem powder and water, rose water, or honey helps purify the skin, curb acne, and prevent future breakouts. Apply this clarifying mask 2–3 times a week to keep skin fresh and matte. 2. Soothe Rashes with Neem-Infused Bath Water Fungal infections, itching, and body rashes become common during the monsoon, especially in skin folds. Add neem to your bathwater by boiling its leaves and straining the water, or mix a few drops of pure neem oil into your bucket. This helps calm irritation and reduce bacterial growth. 3. Target Trouble Spots with Neem Oil Neem oil, when mixed with a carrier oil like coconut or almond oil, works wonders on pimples, mosquito bites, and other minor irritations. Apply directly using a cotton swab for antiseptic, anti-inflammatory action that speeds up healing and reduces redness. 4. Use Neem Water as a Natural Toner Pollution and humidity can lead to dullness and enlarged pores. Boil neem leaves, cool and strain the water, and use it as a toner after cleansing. This helps tighten pores, refresh skin, and acts as a natural antibacterial shield. 5. Detox Your Scalp with a Neem Hair Mask An oily scalp, dandruff, and hair fall often flare up in the monsoon. Mix neem powder with curd or water to create a scalp pack. Apply once a week before shampooing to control flaking, soothe itchiness, and strengthen roots for healthier, fuller hair. view comments First Published: August 02, 2025, 12:02 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. How To Adopt Korean Wellness Routines Daily For Long-Term Health And Balance

Last Updated: The Korean lifestyle emphasizes on intentional and slow living. Adopting simple practices from their wellness routines can help you lead a balanced life. Rooted in centuries-old traditions and modern self-care philosophies, Korean wellness routines offer a holistic approach to living a balanced and healthy life. From mindful eating to skincare rituals and mental well-being, here's how you can incorporate Korean wellness practices into your daily lifestyle. How To Adopt Korean Wellness Routines Daily For A Balanced Life 1. Start Your Day with Warm Barley Tea (Boricha) A staple in Korean households, boricha (roasted barley tea) is often consumed first thing in the morning. Caffeine-free and rich in antioxidants, this tea supports digestion, improves circulation, and helps detoxify the body. Swap your morning coffee with a cup of boricha for a gentle, gut-friendly start to your day. 2. Embrace Daily Skincare as a Mindful Ritual The famous Korean skincare routine isn't just about flawless skin; it's also a form of self-care. A consistent regimen of cleansing, toning, moisturising, and protecting your skin doubles as a meditative ritual. The focus on layering and hydration helps you slow down and tune in to your body's needs. 3. Eat Balanced, Plant-Forward Meals Korean meals are typically packed with fermented foods, vegetables, and balanced proportions of carbs and protein. Incorporate kimchi, seaweed, tofu, and rice into your meals for improved gut health and sustained energy. Don't forget banchan – small side dishes that encourage variety and moderation. In the Korean lifestyle, walking is a big part of daily life. Whether it's a stroll through the neighbourhood or a brisk walk in nature, staying active without strenuous workouts is key. Combine this with regular jjimjilbang (Korean spa) visits or home-based warm baths to relax your muscles and mind. 5. Practice 'Slow Living' with Intention Korean wellness emphasises slowness: doing less, but doing it better. From taking your time with meals to practising han, a quiet reflection of emotions, slowing down helps manage stress and improve emotional balance. Adopting Korean wellness routines isn't about overhauling your lifestyle overnight. Start small – swap in barley tea, tweak your meals, or take a mindful walk daily. Over time, these habits create a rhythm of care and balance that supports both physical health and mental clarity. view comments First Published: August 02, 2025, 09:53 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
