Molly Bish to be remembered with vigil 25 years after disappearance in Massachusetts

A vigil marking 25 years since Molly Bish disappeared will be held in Warren, Massachusetts on Saturday. The vigil will be held on the Warren Town Common at 7 p.m. on Saturday and all are welcome to attend. This year's theme is "Because of Molly..." and will touch on her life and legacy. After the vigil, attendees will walk to Comins Pond, where Molly was last seen before she disappeared. "We've been doing this for a long time, we made a promise to Molly that we would never give up and we'd keep searching and trying to find the answers that we haven't had," said Molly's mother, Magi Bish in an interview with WBZ-TV on Friday. "There's been days of sadness and struggle and today I'm joyful that people are still remembering Molly after 25 years. We are sad we still don't have the answers of who, why this happened to her." Disappeared 25 years ago On June 27, 2000, 16-year-old Molly was dropped off at Comins Pond for her lifeguarding job. Magi Bish dropped her off and was the last person to see her before she went missing. Her shoes and her lifeguard kit were found left behind on the beach. "Who would imagine going to work, brand new job, so excited, it was her first job that was going to pay real money and she was totally ecstatic about it," said Magi Bish. "And that's why, as things unraveled, quickly, we knew Molly would never leave her post. And unfortunately, we knew that was really a scary beginning of what became a long search and we didn't find Molly for three years." Three years later, Molly's remains were found in the woods in Palmer. Even though a deceased person of interest was named in 2021, the case still remains unsolved. "Hope is a special place" "There's newer ideas, new DNA, new people on the case reviewing, having new tactics, you know, directions," said Magi Bish. "So we haven't given up. Hope is a special place, you've got to have hope." Magi Bish said she's sad over but mostly feels gratitude for the kindness shown to her and her family and all the support and help they've received.

Molly Bish disappeared 25 years ago in Massachusetts. Her family says "we haven't given up" on the case.

Friday marks 25 years since Molly Bish disappeared in Warren, Massachusetts. On June 27, 2000, her mother Magi dropped the 16-year-old off at her lifeguarding job at Comins Pond. Magi Bish was the last person to see her daughter before she went missing. Molly's shoes and her lifeguard kit were left behind on the beach. "We knew Molly would never leave her post. And unfortunately we knew that was really a scary beginning of what came along," Magi Bish told WBZ-TV in an interview on Friday. "We didn't find Molly for three years. It was horrendous." Her remains were found in the woods nearly three years later. But even though a deceased person of interest was named in 2021, the case still remains unsolved. Remembering Molly Bish Molly's older sister Heather says grief comes and goes "like a tsunami." "There's all these dates. Birthdays and Christmas and the day they found Molly's skull and the day she was abducted," Heather Bish said. "You have all these dates that come up throughout the year that can be really hard days." She remembers her little sister as a tomboy who loved playing sports and impersonating "Forrest Gump." She said Molly was so proud to be working as a lifeguard. "I took a lot of responsibility for her at a very young age and perhaps that's why I feel so desperate to find out what happened to her," Heather Bish said. "And sometimes I feel really cheated that I didn't get that adult relationship with her. We were just beginning to have to have that." Despite all the time that has passed, Magi Bish said "we haven't given up." "You can't give up because we promised Molly we'd never, never forget her, never let her down," Bish said. "Today we feel very optimistic that someday this case will be solved. There's newer ideas, new DNA, new people on the case." "Molly's Love" A candlelight vigil will be held Saturday in Warren. The Bish family, who have become advocates for missing children over the years, say they are grateful for all the support they've received since Molly's disappearance. They say they're still inspired by "Molly's love." "Molly's love continues to this day by all the outpouring of people who come and help us," Magi Bish said. "And maybe we've helped a lot of people by giving them new laws, giving them legislation that would protect them, but I think we've been the recipients of much love."

Former Albuquerque Christian school teacher accused of child sex abuse arrested in Idaho

Jun. 26—U.S. Marshals arrested a former Albuquerque Christian school teacher accused of child sex abuse in Idaho on Thursday, according to police. Kelly McEachran, 66, is charged with criminal sexual penetration and criminal sexual contact of a minor under 13. The victim is an 11-year-old girl who McEachran taught at Hope Christian School, according to a criminal complaint filed in 2nd Judicial District Court. McEachran's lawyer, Christopher Dodd, said that McEachran was on vacation in Idaho and in the process of turning himself in to authorities when arrested. Since the headlines broke, another former student has come forward alleging abuse, according to an Albuquerque Police Department news release. Other students have also called APD with information about more potential victims. No additional charges have been filed against McEachran following these allegations. Hope Christian School could not be reached for comment. A 2016 video posted on Facebook suggests that McEachran was also a pastor at Legacy Church. In the video, posted on Legacy's account, McEachran is referred to as "Pastor Kelly." The mega-church's attorney, Nicole Westbrook, said he worked in an administrative role a decade ago. The video has since been removed. In McEachran's classroom, the alleged abuse went on for five to six months during the past school year, according to a petition for protection filed by the victim's family in 2nd Judicial Court. The girl told police that when she had questions, McEachran would invite her to sit beside him at his desk, where he would touch her inappropriately. "The police never sought to get his side of the story — they went straight to an arrest warrant," Dodd said. Police first began investigating the case more than two months ago, according to court documents. Police were first dispatched to reports of child abuse at Hope Christian on April 7. McEachran was placed on leave that day, the complaint details. Investigators later searched McEachran's classroom to corroborate details of the girl's story on May 23. A warrant for McEachran's arrest was issued Tuesday. Investigators are urging anyone with information on the case to speak with the department's Crimes Against Children Unit by calling (505) 924-6032.
