Kaantha trailer: The trailer for Selvaraj Selvamani's Dulquer Salmaan and Samuthirakani-starrer Kaantha was released on Monday. Dulquer, who celebrates his birthday today, July 28, and Samuthirakani play son and father in what looks like a retro tale of bruised egos. Kaantha trailer: The Tamil-Telugu bi-lingual is produced by Rana Daggubati and Dulquer Salmaan.
Kaantha trailer
The trailer for Kaantha begins with a studio announcing a horror film called Saantha, the first horror film being made in Tamil/Telugu. Set in 1950s Madras, Samuthirakani is shown as the director of the film, fondly called Ayya by everyone, who doesn't seem happy about the film's cast. Leading the film is his son, a superstar who was trained all his life by his father to be in films, and yet, something has gone wrong between them.
Even as Dulquer tells a co-star that no one respects Ayya more than him, the feelings don't seem reciprocated. Ayya is quick to choke his son and throw chairs at him. But after he decides to make the female actor, played by Bhagyashri Borse, both the 'hero and heroine', Dulquer seems at wits' end, deciding to hit back. He even tells the studio that the film will now be called Kaantha, not Saantha. The trailer ends by hinting at a war of ego between father and son.
The internet thought the trailer of Kaantha was 'superb' if reactions on X (formerly Twitter) and YouTube are anything to go by. 'Big fan of your gemini ganeshan role in Mahanati. Now this one also giving same vibes. Can't wait to experience this on screen,' commented one fan. 'more than expected. seems another banger loading,' wrote another. One person thought Kaantha was a 'sureshot hit' while a few others praised Dulquer for his script selection.
About Kaantha
Kaantha is written and directed by Selvaraj Selvamani and stars Dulquer, Samuthirakani and Bhagyashri as the leads. Jhanu Chanthar composed the music for the film, which will be released in theatres on 12 September. Eros Says Aanand L Rai Knew Of Raanjhanaa AI-Edited Climax. "Not Consulted," Hits Back Director

The controversy around the AI-edited climax of Raanjhanaa 's Tamil version, up for re-release tomorrow, doesn't seem to be nearing an end. Several filmmakers rallied behind Raanjhanaa director Aanand L Rai after he slammed production banner Eros International for this "gross violation", a move which he claims was made without his consent. What Eros Is Saying Ahead of the re-release of Ambikapathy, the Tamil dubbed version of Raanjhanaa, Pradeep Dwivedi, Group CEO, Eros Media World, in an exclusive interview with NDTV reiterated that Eros International is "the sole and exclusive copyright owner of Raanjhanaa" with full and exclusive rights to exhibit, adapt, and re-release the film in any format. Asked why the original creators of the film were not involved in narrative changes, Pradeep Dwivedi said, "While not legally required, Eros believes in fair engagement. In this case, despite the ongoing legal matter, our notice of creative intent was conveyed post-production to Mr Rai. We regret his response but stand by the decision to proceed responsibly and transparently. "We view Mr Rai's public outburst, especially timed just days after the regulatory disclosures advised previously, as a conscious attempt to shift focus away from the legal and governance issues he currently faces. It is unfortunate that a filmmaker of his stature would attempt to conflate legal accountability with creative victimhood." What Aanand L Rai Is Saying On Thursday, Aanand L Rai wrote a lengthy post on Instagram, expressing his displeasure over the AI-edited climax of Ambikapathy, the Tamil version of Raanjhanaa. While he didn't name Eros International, he stated that "None of us were consulted. None of us were heard" in the matter. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Aanand L Rai (@aanandlrai) "To watch Raanjhanaa, a film born out of care, conflict, collaboration, and creative risk, be altered, repackaged, and re-released without my knowledge or consent has been nothing short of devastating. What makes it worse is the complete ease and casualness with which it's been done. "Let me say this as clearly as I can: I do not support or endorse the AI-altered version of Raanjhanaa. It is unauthorised. I had no role in it. Neither did the team that made the film. And whatever it claims to be, it is not the film we intended, or made," the filmmaker wrote. While Aanand L Rai said the AI-supported ending of the film's Tamil version doesn't carry the spirit of the original they made, Pradeep Dwivedi of Eros Media World stated that the new version is a "reinterpretation". "Ethical Use Of AI," Says Eros "Creative reinterpretations-whether through alternate endings, remasters, or AI-are an established part of global cinema. This alternate version complements the original, which is still available. Ethical use of AI in this case did not erase or override original contributions but offers a wonderful new narrative lens," he added. Come tomorrow, when Ambikapathy releases in theatres with the alternate, happier, AI-edited ending, audiences will announce their verdict on which version they prefer: the not-so-perfect ending by director Aanand L Rai; or the AI-assisted one by producers Eros International.

'If you can send people to Mars...': LA residents protest against Elon Musk's Tesla diner; constant honking, massive traffic

Hollywood residents say their life has become hell since Elon Musk's Tesla diner opened on July 21. Elon Musk's Tesla Diner in Hollywood has already rattled the LA residents as they say their life has become absolutely hell since the retro-futuristic diner opened next door on July 21. There is a massive traffic gridlock, and as the diner is open 24X7, there is constant honking but the residents have been experiencing all of it since the construction began. 'Even with the blinds closed, it feels like we're at the world's worst rave,' Kristin Rose, a local, wrote in an email to Tesla and the building manager before moving out of her apartment. The construction began in 2023, and the work went on six days a week, starting as early as 4am. Now that it opened, the suffering doubled with emissions, noise coming out of the diner. Some residents claimed that their views got blocked by the diner's one of the two 45-foot movie screens. "If you can send people to Mars, you should be able to figure out how to make this doable for residents," Laura Kody, another local, said to ABC7. "We were really excited for the supercharger station; we thought it would bring good business to the area, but it has caused insane gridlock from 1 pm to 1 am," a Hollywood resident said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Ranked: The Most Stunning Underrated Coastal Getaways in Europe Learn More Undo "The gridlock is insane. I can imagine that if there's an emergency or something, an ambulance would literally not be able to get to us and that's extremely concerning for me because my parents are elderly," she added. Anti-Tesla protesters added to the noise this weekend as they were there in front of the diner with signs reading 'Fuck Nazi Billionaires' and 'Boycott Tesla'. 11-hour wait for Tesla burgers and fries Musk's idea of a 'old school drive-in, roller skates & rock restaurant' goes back to 2018 when he proposed this. Since opening on Monday, the retro-futuristic diner with electric vehicle-charging stations has had long lines of customers who are served burgers in Cybertruck-designed boxes. One customer posted to YouTube that he waited 11 hours for the restaurant to open.
