Nothing Phone 3 launched in India, brings new Glyph interface and tweaked design
The Phone 3 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. It sports a 6.67-inch OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. The base variant comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The other variant has 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.advertisementCompared to the previous Phone 2, the Phone 3 comes with a revamped camera system. In total there are now three cameras — all powered by 50-megapixel image sensors. One of the cameras also sports a periscope lens with 3X optical zoom. In addition, the ultra-wide camera too uses a 50-megapixel image sensor. Inside the phone there is 5500 mAh battery and the phone uses Nothing OS 3.5 software that has been augmented with some AI features. The phone is also IP68 certified against water and dust protection, which should help its credentials in market.Given that this is Nothing we are talking about, another big change is around design. First, the old Glyph interface which used lights arranged in thin lines on the back cover is gone. Instead, the phone now uses Glyph Matrix, which is essentially a large circle on the top right of the back cover. Inside the circle there are dot-matrix lights — 489 micro LEDs — which are customisable and can function in the same manner in which Glyph Lights used to do. In fact, the Glyph Matrix is one of the key features of the phone, so much so that Nothing has even put a round button on a back to control it and cycle through its various views.advertisementAnother big design change is the new camera module — or rather the lack of it. In fact, this is going to be a polarising aspect of the Phone 3. Unlike camera modules in other phones which are symmetric, Nothing has decided to break some rules and has given the Phone 3 a camera module where lenses are placed asymmetrically. It gives the phone a distinct personality, a kind of cool quotient that no other phone will possibly dare to match. But for some users it may come across too edgy or too out of line. Talking of camera module design, one nifty feature seems to be a red square that will glow whenever the camera is recording a video. As noted earlier, Nothing Phone 3 is going on sale in India from Flipkart and a few other stores on July 15. Although, pre-booking for the phone starts from July 1. Nothing says that those who pre-book the phone will also get Nothing Ear free with the phones along with one year additional free warranty.- EndsMust Watch

Mandya varsity gets AICTE nod to launch MBA, MCA programmes
Mandya: In a major boost to higher education in the region, Mandya University received approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to launch MBA and MCA programmes starting from the 2025-26 academic year. Additionally, the university is introducing emerging technology subjects—Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Cloud Computing—as optional electives in the Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) programme. Until now, students from Mandya aspiring to pursue postgraduate degrees in business administration or computer applications had to travel to other cities, often facing challenges related to travel, expenses, and accommodation. With this new development, students will now have the opportunity to continue their higher studies closer to home. Speaking to TOI, K Shivachithappa, vice-chancellor of Mandya University, said, "We received AICTE approval a few days ago. Many of our students pursuing BBA, BCom, and BCA were struggling to continue their studies in MBA and MCA due to the lack of local options. This initiative will provide much-needed relief and create new opportunities within the district." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending local enterprise accounting software [Click Here] Esseps Learn More Undo Affordability for students: VC The university has allocated 120 seats for MBA and 60 seats for MCA, with admissions being routed through the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). "This ensures affordability for students, with annual fees set at approximately Rs 75,000 for MBA and Rs 49,000 for MCA. In case seats remain unfilled through KEA, they will be filled through the roster system," Shivachithappa added. He also highlighted that the university has the necessary infrastructure and faculty in place to effectively deliver these programmes. "This move will also help the university generate internal resources and elevate its academic profile," he noted. Recognising the growing demand for AI and related fields, the university's syndicate approved the inclusion of AI, ML, and Cloud Computing as optional subjects in the BCA curriculum from this academic year. Looking ahead, the university is also preparing to launch Master of Physical Education (MPEd) and MEd programmes. While these will not begin this academic year, the groundwork for their introduction in the next academic cycle is already under way. This development marks a significant step in strengthening Mandya University's academic offerings and making quality higher education more accessible to local students.

Surat launches India's first solar smart bus stand with Wi-Fi, charging facilities
Surat on Wednesday launched India's first solar-powered smart bus station. Developed by the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC), the innovative electric bus depot at Althan has been built at a cost of Rs 1.60 crore and is being seen as a model of sustainable urban infrastructure for the rest of the high-tech facility is equipped with a 100 kW rooftop solar power plant and a 224 kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Designed in collaboration with the German development agency GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft fr Internationale Zusammenarbeit), the station provides 24x7 green charging support through solar energy and repurposed second-life batteries. advertisementAdditionally, the station offers amenities such as free Wi-Fi, lighting for buses, and charging points, contributing to an improved commuter experience. Prakash Pandya, Executive Engineer at the Light and Energy Efficiency Cell of SMC, said that the solar power plant captures energy during the day, which is then stored in second-life batteries and used to charge electric buses at night. This approach not only eases the pressure on the local electricity grid but also advances the use of renewable energy in public transport. According to estimates, the solar bus depot is expected to generate about 1 lakh units of electricity annually, translating to energy cost savings of approximately Rs 6.65 lakh. More importantly, it serves as a crucial step towards achieving net-zero energy goals and fostering sustainable transport solutions in the project as a blend of advanced technology and environmental responsibility, Pandya said the initiative sets a benchmark in the reuse of batteries and clean energy deployment. "This is not just about infrastructure," he noted. "It's a long-term effort to make public transport green, efficient, and future-ready," he added.- Ends
