Detective department to take over probe in Kolkata gang-rape case: Police
This comes after a female student was allegedly gang raped inside the South Calcutta Law College in Kasba area in the capital city of West Bengal on June 25.
Five days later, on June 30, the Kolkata Police said that the three main accused in the case were arrested in less than 12 hours.
Earlier, BJP fact-finding committee member Manan Kumar Mishra stated alleged that the police were 'hiding' the family of the rape survivor and not allowing anyone to meet the security guard, who is the fourth accused in the incident which took place on June 25 inside the campus of a law college in Kolkata.
He further alleged that there was an attempt to 'tamper' with the First Information Report to change the name of the accused.
Mishra, told ANI, 'We visited everyone there and met other college staff also. When we saw some documents, it showed that some tampering had been done with the FIR. By looking at the document, it looks like someone attempted to change the name of the accused... We tried to talk to the victim, but it looks like the police are hiding the family of the victim and the family members... The guard is the best witness in this case, but they have also arrested him and are not letting him meet anyone...'
'We will submit our report; however, that is a different thing, how the government of Mamata Banerjee will work on this...' he added.
Meanwhile, the Alipore court on Tuesday sent the three main accused to police custody till July 8.
The Court also sent the security guard, the fourth accused, to custody till July 4.
The accused, Monojit, Pramit, and Zaib, will remain in police custody until July 8. The security guard, Pinaki, will be in custody until July 4. (ANI)

Uttarakhand CM orders crackdown on misuse of govt schemes, FIRs registered
Taking strong action against the misuse of government welfare schemes, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed officials to identify and act against individuals who have fraudulently availed benefits using fake documents. Acting on his instructions, two separate FIRs have been registered at Kotwali Nagar and Thana Rajpur police stations in Dehradun. The action follows complaints submitted to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dehradun by the District Supply Officer and the Ayushman Bharat Department. Investigations revealed that a number of individuals with annual incomes exceeding ₹5 lakh had obtained ration cards meant for economically weaker sections. These fake ration cards were then used to illegally generate Ayushman cards and claim subsidised health services under the scheme. Upon verification by the Supply Department, several ration cards were found to be fake, prompting swift legal action. CM Dhami has instructed that no ineligible person be spared and that strict legal action be taken to prevent the abuse of public welfare resources. Earlier on Saturday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Dhami flagged off the first group of pilgrims for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from Tanakpur, marking the official commencement of the sacred journey. The group of devotees arrived in Tanakpur on Friday night and was welcomed by the Chief Minister at the Tourist Rest House (TRC). He personally interacted with the pilgrims before sending them off with best wishes. On June 20, after a five-year gap, the revered Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through Sikkim also recommenced with the ceremonial flagging off of the first batch of pilgrims by Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur from the Nathula Pass.
