India pacer Akash Deep is impressing in England with his brilliant bowling performance in the second Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Edgbaston. But back home, people are sharing videos of his other talents.
Soon after he took two wickets on Day 4 of the Test on Saturday, a video of him singing a Bhojpuri song by popular singer-actor Pawan Singh has gone viral on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram. In it, he can be seen in a function holding a microphone and impressing everyone with his skills.
Akash is considered a good friend of Singh in Bihar. The duo has shared photos together previously.
Coming in as a replacement to fill the big boots of Jasprit Bumrah, Akash picked up four wickets in England's first innings at Edgbaston.
On Saturday, his two wickets were bowling opener Ben Duckett before doing the same to Joe Root with a ball-of-the-series contender that was angled in but seamed away to take out his off-stump.
'He is an attacking bowler that asks questions, bowling at the stumps a lot," India's bowling coach Morkel said after the day. 'I think that's one of the golden rules here in England: asking questions on the stumps. So for these sort of conditions in the UK, it suits his style. And coming back from injury and seeing him running in with high pace, it's a nice sign for us.
'That was a dream delivery… top quality player Joe Root and to dismiss him in that fashion just shows the quality of Akash, what he can do… The more confidence you give him, almost like there's a little bit more energy behind the ball and hopefully that delivery he will play over in his phone tonight, and then bring a couple more of those tomorrow," he added.
India reduced England to 72/3 in their chase of 608 runs and will aim to wrap up the rest on Day 5 to level the series 1-1.

ENG vs IND: Gus Atkinson added to England squad for Lord's Test against India
Pacer Gus Atkinson was added to the England squad ahead of its third Test match against India set to be held at Lord's in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The announcement came on Sunday, moments after India's massive 336-run win over the host in the second Test at Edgbaston to level the series 1-1. Atkinson was ruled out of the first two Tests of the series due to a hamstring injury picked up during England's one-off Test against Zimbabwe in May. The Surrey and England bowler has impressed in his 12 Tests thus far, taking 55 wickets at an average of 22.30. Atkinson also holds an impressive record at Lord's. He has taken 10 wickets in the two Tests he has played there at an impressive average of just 10.22. In his last outing at the ground against Sri Lanka, he took seven wickets (including a second innings five-for) and scored his maiden first-class century. Atkinson's arrival is a much-need boost to England's pace bowling stocks after a bruising outing at Edgbaston. Aside from the trio of Chris Woakes, Josh Tongue, and Brydon Carse that played in Birmingham, England have Jofra Archer, Sam Cook, and Jamie Overton in reserve.

Akash Deep draws high praise from Nasser Hussain as he eyes maiden Test five-wicket haul
Birmingham [UK], July 6 (ANI): India's pace sensation Akash Deep has turned heads with another brilliant spell in the final innings of the ongoing Test against England at Edgbaston, leaving the hosts reeling at 153/6 at Lunch on Day 5. Chasing an improbable 608, England still needs 455 runs to pull off a miracle, but the damage already inflicted by Akash Deep has made survival their only realistic goal. Former England captain Nasser Hussain was full of praise for the young pacer, who removed Ollie Pope and Harry Brook in a fiery morning spell to push England into deeper trouble. 'I think he is a highly-skilled bowler - and at you all the time,' Hussain said on Sky Sports, adding that 'It's not just the cracks in the pitch (why he's had success).' 'He is a wonderful bowler,' he noted. Akash Deep, who picked up 4/88 in the first innings, has already added 4/58 in the second, putting him on the brink of a maiden five-wicket haul in Test cricket. His relentless accuracy and control have been instrumental in India's dominant position. Hussain also lauded India captain Shubman Gill's decision-making, particularly the timely use of off-spinner Washington Sundar, who trapped Ben Stokes lbw just when the England captain was starting to find some rhythm. 'England had done quite a bit of the hard work,' Hussain noted, as quoted from Sky Sports. 'Stokes, who hasn't spent a lot of time in the middle, was beginning to find his rhythm and the ball was getting soft,' he noted 'So it was a really good decision to notice it had just flicked the front pad (for Stokes' lbw dismissal) and for Gill to bowl off-spinner Washington,' he said. Praising Gill's tactical acumen, Hussain added, 'Gill has got most things spot-on in that session and even done things most of us wouldn't - the end Deep bowled at.' With four wickets already in the innings, Akash Deep will be eyeing his first five-wicket haul in the format, and if the conditions hold, there's every chance he could seal the match in style. Gill hails
Birmingham [UK], July 6 (ANI): Following his side's historic 336-run win over England at Birmingham, Indian skipper Shubman Gill expressed happiness with the performance of the bowlers in absence of pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, especially pacer Akash Deep, who he termed as a 'magnificent' contributor with a historic ten-wicket haul, getting movement from the new ball. Gill's extra-ordinary combo of double ton and century and a ten-wicket haul by Akash Deep emerged as major highlights as India put an end to their winless run at Birmingham after seven losses and a draw, winning the match by 336 runs. Speaking after the match in the post-match presentation, Gill said that the team was 'spot on' with its improvements and the bowling and fielding was 'tremendous to see'. 'We knew if we got 400-500 on this kind of wicket, we would be in the game. Not every time we are going to drop that many catches. Not every game will be like Headingley,' he added. On his bowlers, he continued, 'They were magnificent. The way we were able to get through their top order, they bowled brilliantly. Even Prasidh, he did not get as many wickets but he bowled brilliantly.' Speaking about Akash Deep, Gill lauded him for hitting the 'right line and lengths'. 'He bowled with so much heart. He was getting the ball to move both ways, which was difficult on a pitch like this. He was magnificent for us,' he added. Gill was also happy with his own performances, saying, 'I am definitely feeling comfortable with my game, and if we are able to win the series with my contributions, it'll be great. As I said before, I want to play as a batsman, go out as a batsman and make decisions as a batsman. Sometimes you won't take some risks when you're thinking as a captain, which you have to do as a batsman.' Speaking on the prospect of pace spearhead Bumrah bowling at Lord's in the third Test and himself captaining the side, he said, 'Definitely (If Bumrah will be back). Very excited for it (Bumrah being back). No bigger honour than to captain your country in a Test match at Lord's.' Coming to the match, England once again opted to field first. After getting KL Rahul (2) early, a 80-run stand between Yashasvi Jaiswal (87 in 107 balls, with 13 fours) and Karun Nair (31 in 50 balls, with five fours) helped India gain some footing in the match. Skipper Shubman Gill had valuable partnerships of 203 runs with Ravindra Jadeja (89 in 137 balls, with 10 fours and a six) and a 144-run stand against Washington Sundar (42 in 103 balls, with three fours and a six), helping India towards 587, scoring 269 in 387 balls himself, with 30 fours and three sixes. Shoaib Bashir (3/167) was the pick of the bowlers for England, while Chris Woakes and Josh Tongue also managed two England's first innings, India had them on the ropes with 84/5. However, a 303-run stand between Harry Brook (158 in 234 balls, with 17 fours and a six) and wicketkeeper-batter Jamie Smith (184* in 207 balls, with 21 fours and four sixes) sent India on an endless hunt for leather and answers. However, Siraj (6/70) and Akash Deep (4/88) got something out of the new ball and tumbled down the last five wickets for 20 runs, bundling them down for 407 runs, gaining a 180-run lead. India's response was a swift half-century partnership between Jaiswal (28 in 22 balls, with six fours) and KL Rahul, who also continued his good run with a 10-boundary-filled 55 in 84 balls. A 110-run stand for the fourth wicket between Rishabh Pant (65 in 58 balls, with eight fours and three sixes) and Gill upped the attack, while Gill managed yet another epic 175-run stand with Jadeja, scoring 161 in 162 balls, with 13 fours and eight sixes. Jadeja scored an unbeaten 69* in 118 balls, with five fours and a six. India declared at 427/6, leading by 607 runs and setting England a monstrous 608 runs to win. During the run-chase, England was restricted to 50/3. Jamie Smith (88 in 99, with nine fours and four sixes) was the only glimmer of hope for England as they were skittled out for just 271 runs, losing by 336 runs, thanks to a brilliant spell from Akash Deep (6/99), who ended up taking a ten-fer. Gill took home the 'Player of the Match' award as India levelled the series 1-1. (ANI)
