A Grab driver was left injured after he allegedly tried to stop his two passengers from fighting, only for them to turn on him.
Stomper Wind said he was "chased and attacked" along the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) towards Tuas, before the Central Expressway (CTE), sometime after 3am on July 4.
The 48-year-old recounted: "My two drunken male passengers picked a quarrel among themselves and were about to get into a fight while I was sending them to their destination. I told them to please refrain from doing so inside the car.
"I saw one man raising his fist, so I immediately stopped the car by the roadside and called the police. He was unhappy and kept saying I was a lady and asked why I called the police. He tried to punch me multiple times, but I dodged.
"After about five minutes, the other passenger joined in. Both of them blatantly chased me on lane 4 of the PIE, raining punches and kicks on me even when I was down on the road.
"I managed to stand up and run to lane 3. The two men got scared and ran away."
Wind, a full-time Grab driver, highlighted his helplessness that night.
He told Stomp: "I refused to continue the journey, so the men turned their anger on me. The whole time, I kept waving for help but none came. Many cars passed by, but no one even stopped to help.
"I first called 999 at 3.18am before the attack, but the police only arrived at 4.10am after many calls, because apparently they were unable to locate me."
According to Wind, a fellow private-hire (PHV) driver eventually stopped to help him. EMAS (Expressway Monitoring & Advisory System) and Aetos also responded to the scene.
"When the police arrived, they called the ambulance," said Wind, who contacted Stomp at 4.46am with photos of him bleeding.

Wind, who was conscious when taken to hospital, said he suffered injuries "mostly to the head". He also had a slight nose fracture and a blood clot in one ear.
Speaking to Stomp while hospitalised, Wind added: "Grab's hotline was not very helpful. Since I had purchased their insurance, they told me to do the claim myself. They later contacted me to ask about my condition after Stomp got involved."
Stomp understands that as part of the claims process, driver-partners are required to submit their insurance claims through the Grab Driver App as they will need to furnish personal documents such as incident details, medical certificate, and medical bills before it can be processed.
Those who have trouble submitting the insurance claim, or their next-of-kin, can reach out to Grab for assistance and support.
Wind said: "I have mixed feelings but am also quite disappointed. Drivers on the road can only fend for themselves. Now I can't work for a few days.
"Fares are going down and passengers are unreasonable. Being a PHV driver really sucks."
In response to a Stomp query, the police said they received a call for assistance along PIE towards Tuas at about 3.20am.
Police investigations are ongoing.
Wind was discharged from hospital on the evening of July 4 at his request.

50-year-old woman kept 79 dogs in Sembawang landed home, far exceeding 3-dog limit
Ivan Lim TNP July 25, 2025 A 50-year-old woman has been charged with keeping 79 dogs - mostly miniature poodles - in a landed property in Sembawang without licences and failing to microchip them. Singaporean Julia Moss faces 82 charges, the bulk of which relate to not licensing the dogs, Lianhe Zaobao reported. She is accused of housing the animals at a property along Wak Hassan Drive on Aug 28, 2024 - far exceeding the legal limit of three dogs for a private property. Moss also allegedly failed to meet the deadline to microchip the animals by Aug 27, 2024, a requirement imposed by the Director-General of Animal Health and Welfare on May 29 last year. On Jan 25 this year, she allegedly did not inform the authorities of her plans to relocate the dogs. The address listed in the charge was for another house, also along Wak Hassan Drive. She is further accused of failing to provide the Director-General with the new address where the dogs were moved to, which contravenes the Animals and Birds Act. The case has been adjourned for Moss to engage legal counsel. She is expected to return to court on Aug 20. According to animal welfare organisation Voices For Animals, they managed to rehome 37 of the 79 dogs. For keeping more than three dogs on a private property, Moss faces a fine of up to $5,000. For failing to microchip the dogs as directed, she could be jailed for up to 12 months, fined up to $10,000, or both. Each charge of owning an unlicensed dog carries a fine of up to $5,000. Helper stole $30k from employer in 28 days, sent it to husband in Indonesia and spent it on mobile games Ethel Tseng TNP July 18, 2025 An Indonesian domestic helper, left alone at home, repeatedly entered her employer's sister-in-law's room, stealing more than $30,000 over a span of 28 days. Most of the money was sent to her husband in Indonesia, while the remaining amount was spent on mobile games. On July 15, 28-year-old Mei Santi Andriani (transliterated) was jailed for 10 months after pleading guilty to two counts of theft. Three other charges were taken into consideration for sentencing. Shin Min Daily News reported that Andriani was employed by a 59-year-old woman but did not live with her. Instead, her primary duties were to care for the employer's 82-year-old mother-in-law and father-in-law, carrying out household chores such as cleaning and cooking. The elderly couple initially lived in a private residence in the Mandai area. On March 26, due to ongoing renovation works at the elderly couple's home, they temporarily relocated to a public housing unit along Yishun Ring Road. The elderly couple shared one bedroom, while Andriani and the employer's 53-year-old sister-in-law occupied separate rooms. Intruded into private room to steal The employer's sister-in-law told Andriani that she was only allowed to enter the sister-in-law's room for cleaning when she was at home, and that the room would usually be locked. However, while doing the laundry, Andriani discovered a key in a pair of trousers that belonged to the sister-in-law. She kept the key with the intention of using it to steal from the room. On May 6, Andriani used the key to unlock the room and discovered a large sum of cash in a wardrobe drawer. She took a bundle of cash and locked up after leaving. Counting the money in her own room, she found she had taken $4,700, which she deposited into her bank account later that day. Emboldened, Andriani continued stealing from the room. Between May 6 and May 28, she stole on at least 14 occasions, taking a total of $30,140 in cash. Each time, she deposited the stolen money into her bank account on the same day. She later sent a large portion of the money to her husband, who resides in Indonesia, while the rest was spent on mobile games and personal expenses.
