All Blacks loose forward Wallace Sititi is to undergo surgery on an ankle injury and will miss the three-test series against France in July, the team said on Thursday.
The 22-year-old number eight, who was World Rugby's Breakthrough Player of the Year in 2024, will be replaced in the squad by Christian Lio-Willie.
Lio-Willie, who is uncapped, was already with the squad as injury cover for Luke Jacobson so openside flanker Dalton Papali'i has now been called up to fill that role.
New Zealand host France in the opening test in Dunedin on July 5 before further clashes in Wellington and Hamilton on the following weekends.

'I'm pretty sad' — Ons Jabeur became emotional before first-round Wimbledon exit due to injury

WIMBLEDON, LONDON: Ons Jabeur, a Tunisian tennis star who reached back-to-back Wimbledon finals in 2022 and 2023, was forced to make an early exit from the same tournament this season during her first-round match against Viktoriya Tomova. The 30-year-old athlete was emotional before retiring from the match as injury cut short her campaign. This unexpected exit is a surprise not only for Jabeur but for the fans as well, as she was known to be a consistent contender for the Wimbledon title in recent years. The athlete lamented: 'I wasn't expecting not to feel good. I have been practising pretty well the last few days, but I guess these things happen.' She added, 'I'm pretty sad. Doesn't really help me with my confidence and what I keep pushing myself to do, even though it was a very tough season for me. I hope I can feel better.' Jabeur's season performance During her first-round match at Wimbledon, Jabeur needed medical assistance as the first set began. After only 26 minutes of play, the athlete left the court and covered her face with a towel as she returned. After the medical check-up, Jabeur returned to the match but lost the first set with a score of 7-5. The athlete tried to continue the match in the second set but fell behind with a score of 2-0 before deciding to retire from the match. This early exit from Wimbledon follows various injury setbacks that have hindered her career since 2024. Back then, she was forced to retire from the 2024 U.S. Open due to a shoulder injury. That also ended her season early. In 2025, she made a comeback at the Australian Open but was eliminated in the third round. She later struggled with a leg injury at the 2025 Miami Open. With these physical concerns, she dropped to No. 59 in the WTA standings — a steep decline from her No. 2 ranking in 2022. On social media, The Tennis Letter shared the unfortunate news: 'Ons Jabeur retires from her match against Viktoriya Tomova at Wimbledon… Awful to see this.' The post also stated: 'A 2-time Wimbledon finalist who's had some of her most emotional times on a tennis court at this event… She just can't get her body healthy… Hopefully, better times are coming.' Netizens commented on the post and remarked, 'Second withdrawal this season, after Miami,' 'It's so heartbreaking to see Ons going through bad phase, hope for a injury free season soon,' 'That's such a sad exit from Wimbledon,' and 'Sorry for her, but maybe it's time to listen to her body (and mind) and retire.'

England's Mead says no football talk with Dutch partner Miedema ahead of Euros clash

England's Mead says no football talk with Dutch partner Miedema ahead of Euros clash England forward Beth Mead said she wants her partner Vivianne Miedema to play well at Euro 2025, just not when the Netherlands striker lines up on the opposite side of the pitch for their Group D match on July 9. Manchester City's Miedema, the Women's Super League's all-time top scorer, and Mead began a relationship while they were teammates at Arsenal. Mead said there was an air of inevitability that England and the Netherlands would be drawn together at the tournament in Switzerland. "When the draw was made, we both sat there and said 'of course that's happened," she told reporters on Monday. "We're both very, very competitive and professional. We're both excited for the tournament and to be able to play in it again. "We keep in contact but when it gets closer to our games, we don't talk football whatsoever. "Obviously, we want each other to do well but not against each other." England begin their campaign against France on July 5, while Netherlands play Wales. Kellaway, Toole released from Australia squad for Fiji test

MELBOURNE :Wingers Andrew Kellaway and Corey Toole were released from the Australia squad on Tuesday as Joe Schmidt's preferred team to face the British & Irish Lions moved into clearer focus. Kellaway will return to his New South Wales Waratahs squad for their tour match against the Lions in Sydney on Saturday, ruling him out of selection for the Wallabies' game against Fiji on Sunday. Uncapped at test level, Toole will also miss out on the Fiji test, the Wallabies' last warmup before the July 19 series-opener against the Lions in Brisbane, to join his ACT Brumbies squad ahead of their tour match against the Lions next week. Waratahs backs Joseph Suaalii and Max Jorgensen have been retained in Schmidt's squad for Fiji, with the former capable of playing in the centres and both giving Schmidt options at fullback and on the wings. Schmidt also has the Western Force duo of Harry Potter and Dylan Pietsch as wing options in his squad along with Queensland Reds speedster Filipo Daugunu. Kellaway's release follows prop Taniela Tupou's return to the Waratahs on Monday. Andy Farrell's Lions will familiarise themselves with the first test venue of the Wallabies series when they meet the Queensland Reds at Lang Park on Wednesday. The Lions thrashed Western Force 54-7 in Perth in their first tour match in Australia last Saturday but Farrell expects a tougher test against the Reds, who are coached by future Wallabies boss Les Kiss. "Les has done a fantastic job with them to play a great brand of rugby and are able to play in many different ways," Farrell told reporters.
