Scottie Scheffler won his 16th PGA Tour trophy on Sunday at Muirfield Village. The World No. 1 became the second player ever to record back‑to‑back wins at Jack's Place. It was no surprise that he received major news on Wednesday.

Scheffler became the first player to qualify for the Ryder Cup on Wednesday. But that is not all; he will lead Team USA in the tournament, aiming to get his captain the first victory at Bethpage Black.
'Representing the United States at the Ryder Cup has been one of the greatest honors of my career, and I look forward to doing so for a third time this September,' Scheffler said after hearing the news.
'I will do whatever it takes to help our team reclaim the Cup and cannot wait to play in front of the passionate New York spectators at Bethpage Black.'

Keegan Bradley, the $50 million golfer and captain of the team, claimed that Scheffler is the "ultimate team player".

"Scottie is the ultimate team player and I have no doubt that he will be ready and motivated come September." He said. "I could not be more excited to have him as a member of the U.S. Team."
This will be Scheffler's third consecutive appearance at the tournament, the first one being in 2021, where Team USA won 19-9.
The other five players, as per rankings, are Xander Schauffele, Bryson DeChambeau, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa and Russell Henley.
Ben Griffin improved his rankings by 7 spots and is now next in contention with 1334 points behind Henley.

Kitayama, who tied the tournament record with a career-best 60 on Saturday to enter the final round within one of the lead, birdied six of the first eight holes to take control on a 91-degree afternoon at the TPC Twin Cities. Kitayama led by one playing the par-5 18th when he hit 5-iron onto the back slope of a bunker. He blasted out to about 18 feet and took two putts for par to finish at 23-under 261.
