Nashik police conduct seminar on emergency preparedness and coordination with NCC, NSS and others
" He also guided attendees on how to handle emergency situations, the possibility of cyberattacks, and preventive measures against these, such as not downloading posts from unidentified sources and people.DCP (HQ) Chandrakant Khandvi said, "Cadets of the NCC and NSS can be deployed as volunteers during emergencies. These cadets can be provided training through video conferencing. Furthermore, joint mock drills of cadets can be organised with the civil defence, fire brigade, and disaster management teams. Cadets can be given identity cards and certificates and they can be assigned work as required in emergency situations." Questions from NCC and NSS cadets were duly addressed during the seminar. Assistant commissioner of police Sandeep Mitke later proposed a vote of thanks to end the session.

Nashik police to seek more manpower for Kumbh Mela
Nashik: In view of the forthcoming Simhastha Kumbha Mela, the city police will be seeking additional manpower from state govt. Currently, a manpower of approximately 3,200 has been sanctioned for the city. CP Sandeep Karnik has instructed ACPs of the city to study the needed manpower in their respective jurisdictions so that additional manpower can be sought from govt. ACPs have been asked to study the jurisdiction of every police station under them, the sanctioned number of posts for each station, crime rate over five years and the number of rallies, agitations, hunger strikes, corner meetings, processions, VVIP visits, character verifications, etc, in every police station under them. The existing force with the police stations in the city is as per the norms decided in 1960. With the passage of time, population has increased, so have industrialisation and urbanization and social media use. These have changed the lifestyle of people leading to more political and religious crimes, cybercrime, etc. Hence, the manpower as per norms decided about six decades ago is falling short. Govt too has decided to make changes in deployments in police stations. A proposal for more manpower for the city police commissionerate ahead of the Kumbh Mela will also be put forward. ACPs have been instructed to compile details and submit to respective DCPs. This would then be submitted to CP Sandeep Karnik.
