Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The installation of these cameras has been strategically distributed across various key areas of the city. For instance, 100 cameras have been placed in Satpur, Ambad, and Indiranagar areas. Sarkarwada now has 32 cameras, while Chunchale is covered by 52 cameras. As many as 156 cameras have been deployed across Nashik Road, Upnagar, Deolali Camp, Panchavati, and Adgaon areas. Currently, another 84 cameras are in the process of being installed in the Bhadrakali area, further expanding the reach of the surveillance network. This comprehensive surveillance will expand even more with the help of the Smart City project. As part of this initiative, 1,300 additional CCTV cameras have already been installed at 350 different locations. These cameras are soon expected to become fully functional, integrating with the police's existing and planned network. The combined effort will provide extensive and robust security coverage across the entire city of Nashik, enhancing public safety significantly. A police officer, while talking to TOI, said, "With the exception of cameras in the Bhadrakali area, where plans are afoot for live transmission to the Bhadrakali police station, other cameras will be standalone with the capacity to store the footage for about a month. " The officer added, "Thus, the police can check the footage of the cameras as and when required. While investigating a crime, the police generally take help of CCTV cameras to check from where the criminals may have arrived and in which direction they left after committing a crime." Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The city police are getting the cameras installed from various companies using their Corporation Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. Under the guidance of CP Sandeep Karnik, the police are also appealing to the citizens, shopkeepers, and other traders to install cameras that capture the area in front of their respective establishments.

NMC chief, top cop review traffic situation at junctions
Nashik: The city's municipal commissioner Manisha Khatri, police commissioner Sandeep Karnik, and MLA Devyani Pharande conducted a joint inspection of several congested traffic junctions on Monday. The senior officers visited several busy locations, including Dwarka Circle, Shalimar, Mumbai Naka, Indira Nagar bypass, and other areas to assess encroachment issues and traffic bottlenecks. During the inspection, MLA Pharande proposed several solutions to the civic and police administration, including demolishing the Dwarka Circle underpass, relocating bus stops at Mumbai Naka and Shalimar Chowk, and establishing dedicated bus lanes at the Mahamarg bus stand. She also highlighted the need to address unauthorised autorickshaw stands that contribute to traffic congestion and pose safety risks. Officials noted uneven road surfaces in DGP Nagar, Indira Nagar, and other locations, prompting instructions for road levelling work. The administration had initiated encroachment removal at Dwarka Circle on Sunday to address traffic issues. Following the joint inspection, the NMC continued its anti-encroachment drive for the second consecutive day. The operation targeted illegal structures, sheds, and hoardings along various routes, including the stretch from Dwarka Circle to the crematorium in Nashik East division, Shahi Marg (the route through which the sadhus arrive at Ramkund to take a holy dip in the Godavari during the Kumbh Mela), Bagwanpura, and from Sarda Circle to Dwarka Circle. The drive resulted in the removal of 55 kiosks and encroachments from 26 shops along these roads.
