Andhra CM to meet Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman during two-day Delhi visit
Naidu will push for pending fund releases, progress on major infrastructure projects including the proposed Polavaram- Banakacherla Link Project, and issues related to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
He is scheduled to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah on July 15, followed by meetings with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, IT and Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil, Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, NITI Aayog member Dr VK Saraswat, and the MD of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. Later in the evening, he will attend a memorial meeting held in honour of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao at the Prime Ministers' Museum and Library in Delhi.
On July 16, the Chief Minister will continue meetings, including a key session with the Finance Ministry in the North Block and will participate in a business conference hosted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). He is expected to return to Amaravati on the morning of July 17.

In meetings with Union ministers in New Delhi, including Home Minister Amit Shah, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu sought the Centre's support for the Polavaram-Banakacherla link project, which he said would help drought-proof the Rayalaseema region. Naidu said the project proposes to divert 200 TMC of floodwater from Polavaram to the Banakacherla regulator in Kurnool district. Even after meeting the needs of upper and lower riparian states, surplus water from the Godavari flows for 90 to 120 days, he told Shah. Andhra Pradesh, being the last state on the river's course, has a rightful claim to fully utilise this water, he said. The Chief Minister said a revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be submitted soon and sought timely approvals. The Polavaram project is located in Eluru and East Godavari districts, while Banakacherla lies in Kurnool. The plan involves a three-part water transfer system: the Bollapalle reservoir in Palnadu district, lift irrigation systems, and tunnels through the Nallamala hills. Naidu said the project would support national missions such as Jal Jeevan, Blue Revolution, and Make in India. He also raised concerns about the state's financial condition and urged the Centre for additional support. He informed Shah that the 16th Finance Commission has been requested to consider the financial losses suffered by Andhra Pradesh due to bifurcation while allocating funds. In his meetings with Shah and NITI Aayog member V K Saraswat, Naidu also raised other issues concerning the state's development. The Chief Minister thanked the Centre for its support during the state's 'challenging times' over the past year and said Andhra Pradesh is working to rebuild its economy with Central assistance. With Saraswat, Naidu discussed plans to set up aerospace and defence industries in the Rayalaseema region. They spoke about the region's suitability for such industries and steps needed to attract investment. Delhi Metro Rail Managing Director Dr Vikas Kumar also met the Chief Minister. They discussed cooperation on the construction of metro projects in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada.

Talks on Banakacherla premature, untenable: Telangana government to Jal Shakti ministry
HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has requested the Ministry of Jal Shakti to either revise the agenda for Wednesday's meeting of chief ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh or defer any discussion on the AP government's proposed Polavaram-Banakacherla link project until all statutory requirements, interstate consultations and clearances are fully complied with and all objections resolved. It also requested inclusion of the items proposed by it in the agenda for the meeting. Any discussion on AP's project was 'premature and untenable', Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao said in a letter to the Secretary of Jal Shakti. Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil has convened a meeting in Delhi on Wednesday with chief ministers of Telangana and AP, A Revanth Reddy and N Chandrababu Naidu, and to discuss river water issues. The AP government submitted Polavaram-Banakacherla as an agenda item. Telangana has objected to a discussion on AP's project 'at this juncture'. There is no clarity on whether the Jal Shakti Ministry will drop the Banakacherla item from the agenda or not. If the ministry does not drop it, Revanth might stage a walkout from the meeting after registering his dissent, sources said. However, he is expected to make his stand crystal clear on all irrigation-related issues of the state before walking out, the sources added. Meanwhile, the chief secretary in his letter said: 'Given the unresolved and substantive objections of the Polavaram Project Authority (PPA), Godavari River Management Board (GRMB), Central Water Commission (CWC), and the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC), the lack of statutory clearances, and the ongoing violations of binding legal provisions and tribunal awards, it is unequivocally premature and procedurally untenable to discuss the Godavari-Banakacherla Link Project at this stage. Proceeding otherwise would undermine the authority of the Government of India's own regulatory mechanisms and set a precedent contrary to the rule of law.' 'The government of Telangana appreciates the initiative to address inter-state water issues. However, we must formally place on record our objections to the inclusion and discussion of the Godavari-Banakacherla (Polavaram-Banakacherla) Link Project at this juncture, and request that the agenda be revised accordingly,' Ramakrishna Rao said in the letter to the Secretary of the Ministry of Jal Shakti on Monday.
