Strawberry perfumes are trending for summer 2025, here are 10 of the best that won't sour quickly
All of a sudden, fresh strawberry scents have been appearing left and right – by my tally, five have launched so far this year – and it seems like the berry has become the bona fide 'it girl' of the perfume world. What gives?
"Strawberry is having a total renaissance in fragrance," says Gustavo Romero, founder of the Fragrance Alliance Network. "We're in this wave of nostalgic, playful beauty—think TikTok's obsession with coquette aesthetics and the collective craving for dopamine-inducing scents after years of minimalist 'clean girl' perfumes. Strawberry fits right in. It's fun, recognisable, and instantly mood-boosting," explains Romero.
Strawberry scents have technically been around for years. I even grew up dousing myself in a candied strawberry mist from Bath & Body Works. That said, perfumers have finally found a way to make strawberry smell greener, juicier, and more life-like, which gives the note newfound sophistication. The process hasn't been simple or straightforward, mainly because strawberries don't produce essential oil. "Perfumers have to build their scent profile using a cocktail of aroma molecules," explains Romero, and he says there's a very fine line between producing the scent of vine-ripe berries versus a scratch-and-sniff strawberry sticker.
When I spoke with Phlur's creative director, Chriselle Lim, at the launch of Strawberry Letter last year, she told me the perfume took years to develop due to the berry's finicky nature. "Strawberry is a beautiful, vibrant note, but it can be tricky to get just right," she says. "It has a natural tartness that can lean too sharp or sour if it's not balanced properly. The key is in the layering, you have to pair strawberry notes with ones that enhance the fruit's juiciness without overpowering it."
Romero emphasises the fact that it's not just a matter of engineering the perfect strawberry note. "If you don't balance the tartness with something creamy or warm, it can lean sharp or sour," he says. "On top of that, strawberry is volatile—it smells juicy and delicious at first, but it can fade quickly on the skin if other ingredients do not support it."
And now that perfumers have started to master that delicate balancing act, we're seeing more strawberry scents that are bright and airy, as well as some that are jammy and rich rather than perfumes that are nothing more than syrupy sweet.
"Strawberry notes are often sweet and colourful on the skin, reminiscent of a natural strawberry," says DSM-Firmenich perfumer Berenice Watteau. "Some can have a jam-like and appetising effect, while others could be a bit fresher and slightly tart, like an apple." It all depends on your body chemistry—remember, all scents will smell a little different on everyone, as well as the other notes that make up the finished perfume.
"When mixed with vanilla, strawberry becomes creamy, sensual, and totally addictive," explains Watteau. "As for florals, strawberry can either amplify the flower's natural sweetness or add a touch of bright, fruity colour to the overall scent." Strawberry can even take on a more sultry identity when paired with warm woods or spices, like oud and pink pepper.
Research shows that people continue to look for fragrances that feel nostalgic, comforting, and joyful. "Humans are naturally drawn to scents that make them feel good, and strawberry, with its inherent sweetness and joy-evoking qualities, perfectly fits that role," says Watteau.
Lucky for you, the best strawberry perfumes are ripe for the picking just in time for spring. Whether you want to smell like a blooming strawberry field or a succulent strawberry shortcake, you'll find your perfect strawberry match below.

Mom Gives Birth to Healthy Baby Boy, Then One Test Changes Their Lives
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A woman who had a healthy pregnancy and smooth labor was shocked to discover that something was wrong after giving birth to her baby boy, Brooks. Brooks failed the initial hearing screening the first time shortly after birth. It was then re-done, and he failed two more times. He was invited back for a fourth time, and again, he failed. His mom, Morgan Deakin, 23, initially thought it was due to mucus being in his ears - a common issue for newborns. But, at just three weeks old, Deakin and her partner Leon, 25, were told their baby is completely deaf. "It changed our lives entirely, and shaped the way we see life," the Scotland-based mom told Newsweek. "At first, it was overwhelming — there were so many emotions, from shock and grief to worry about what his future might look like." Deakin holding her son, Brookes. TikTok/@morgandeakinx According to the Scottish Government, around 1.1 babies per 1,000 births are born with permanent bilateral deafness. In comparison, the CDC states that about 2 to 3 out of every 1,000 children in the United States are born with a detectable level of hearing loss in one or both ears. Deakin regularly goes viral on TikTok, sharing her son's story (@morgandeakinx). In one clip detailing the diagnosis, she explained that they cried for days, then on the third day, their mindset adjusted. "It sunk in that crying isn't going to do anything. We've been in a great mindset since then," she said. She told Newsweek: "It's not the journey we imagined, but it's one we're embracing — and Brooks is showing us every day just how strong, resilient, and full of potential he is. "We also have changed as individuals, I would say. We are kinder in our hearts and see the world in a different light — a beautiful, kind, caring, and diverse little world which we were slightly ignorant to before. It has shaped us into better parents." Deakin feeding Brooks after his hearing aid fitting. A close up of the ten-week-old baby with the device in his ear. TikTok/@morgandeakinx At ten weeks old, Brooks received hearing aids for the first time, which has left the internet in tears. She told Newsweek: "The hearing aids haven't helped at all at the moment; their purpose is to stimulate the auditory nerves to keep the auditory pathways open. "Although Brooks has not been able to be exposed to sound just yet, it is allowing him to get used to wearing them. Hopefully, further down the line, he can get cochlear implants and wear these as he's used to them." So far, the video has over 76,000 views and more than 5,300 likes. "Awww little angel. makes you realize the things we take for granted," said one commenter. Another wrote: "I am almost fully deaf but I can speak & communicate so well due to learning to lip read. He will pick up SO much by just watching you. You're amazing parents to your lovely boy." Morgan told Newsweek: "We've quickly found ourselves thrown into a whole new world of audiology appointments, learning about communication options like BSL and auditory verbal therapy, and figuring out how to advocate for him. But as time has gone on, it's also opened a different perspective. "We've met incredible professionals and other families, started learning more about deaf culture, and realized how many ways there are for Brooks to thrive and communicate."

YouTube is testing Instagram-style collabs
YouTube has started testing a new collaboration feature, similar to Instagram's and TikTok's. A Google employee explained on YouTube Help that it will allow creators to add collaborators to a video so that they can be recommended to each other's audiences. The test is only available to a small group of creators for now, but it sounds like YouTube has plans to expand its availability in the future. Lindsey Gamble, an influencer marketing consultant and advisor, has posted a screenshot showing how the experimental feature works on Threads. As you can see in the image Gamble posted, adding collaborators would show their names next to the creators on their channel. If there are too many, at least on mobile, the collaborators would show as "...and more" next to the creator's name. Tapping on it would bring up the list of people involved in the project, with the Subscribe button next to their name. On Instagram and TikTok, the creator who uploads the content will have to invite another account as a collaborator, who'll then have to approve the invitation. That'll most likely be the case here, as well, in order to ensure that creators don't randomly add other users to their videos. It's not clear, however, whether the collaborators can see details typically reserved for the uploader's eyes. As with any experimental YouTube and Google product, the company will be taking the testers' feedback into account before deciding if it'll give the feature a wide release. fff
