Blue Jays place outfielder Anthony Santander on 60-day injured list
The 30-year-old outfielder was placed on the 10-day IL on May 30.
Santander, who signed a five-year, US$92.5-million deal with Toronto in the off-season, has struggled at the plate with the Blue Jays. He's hitting .179 with six homers and 18 RBIs over 50 games.
Santander set career highs with 44 homers, 102 RBIs and 91 runs scored in 155 games for Baltimore last year.
In other news, Toronto added right-hander Lazaro Estrada to its major league roster and has made him active for the Jays' series opener against the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night.

GONDOMAR, Portugal (AP) — Liverpool players joined family and friends for the funeral of their teammate Diogo Jota and his brother on Saturday, two days after the siblings died in a car crash in Spain. The service will be held at Igreja Matriz church in the Portuguese town of Gondomar, where Jota had a home. Portugal's national team coach Roberto Martínez and several top Portuguese players also attended, including Manchester City duo Bernardo Silva and Rúben Dias and Manchester United's Bruno Fernándes. Jota, 28, and his brother, André Silva, 25, were found dead near Zamora in northwestern Spain early Thursday after the Lamborghini they were driving crashed on an isolated stretch of highway just after midnight on Thursday and burst into flames. The brothers were reportedly heading to catch a boat from northern Spain to go to England where Jota was to rejoin with Liverpool after a summer break. Spanish police are investigating the cause of the crash, which did not involve another vehicle, they said. They said they believe it could have been caused by a blown tire. Their bodies were repatriated to Portugal after being identified by the family. A wake was held for them on Friday. Jota's death occurred two weeks after he married long-time partner Rute Cardoso while on vacation from a long season where he helped Liverpool win the Premier League. The couple had three children, the youngest born last year. Jota was born in Porto but started his playing career as a child on nearby Gondomar. Silva played for Portuguese club Penafiel in the lower divisions. Springer had four homers in the series as Toronto moved into first place in the American League East, one game ahead of the Yankees. Addison Barger added three hits with a homer and two RBIs and Nathan Lukes had three hits and two RBIs. Trent Grisham hit a solo homer for the Yankees. Jasson Dominguez added four hits. Toronto scored once in the first against Clarke Schmidt. Springer walked and came home on Barger's double. Grisham led off the third against Chris Bassitt (8-4) with a homer to left center on a cutter. The Blue Jays regained the lead in their third. Lukes led off with a double to right and Springer homered to center. The Yankees tied the game in the fourth. Dominguez lined a triple to the gap in left center and scored on Anthony Volpe's single. Austin Wells doubled and Volpe scored from third on a wild pitch. Clayton Beeter (0-1) took over in fourth for Schmidt, who allowed three runs, four hits and two walks with one strikeout and was removed with right forearm tightness. Clement had a three-run home run and a two-run double, both in an eight-run second inning in the opener of a four-game series. Bo Bichette had a two-run homer and three RBIs, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. added a two-run homer and George Springer had a solo shot. Clement's five RBIs in the second tied a club record for an inning, according to Sportsnet Stats. Edwin Encarnacion had five RBIs in the seventh inning against the Houston Astros on July 26, 2013. The five RBIs were also a career-best. Clement and Alejandro Kirk each had three hits for the Blue Jays, who had 18 hits in winning their second in a row. The Athletics have lost 14 of 15.
