Owaisi: When water, blood can't flow together, why play cricket against Pakistan?
Owaisi said his own conscience will not allow him to watch that cricket match between India and Pakistan.
Participating in the special discussion on Operation Sindoor in Lok Sabha, Owaisi said when Indian airspace is closed for Pakistan's aircraft, their boats cannot enter India, trade is stopped, 'with what face India will play a cricket match with Pakistan'?
'Does this government have so much courage to make a phone call to (families of) those killed (in Pahalgam attack) and say that we have taken revenge in Operation Sindoor and you now watch Pakistan's cricket match? This is regrettable,' he said.
Owaisi also asked the government to point out who was accountable for the terror attack. 'If the accountability is fixed on L-G ( Lieutenant-Governor), then dismiss L-G. If accountability is on IB or the police, then take action… accountability will have to be fixed,' he said.
The Hyderabad MP urged the government to not make national security and foreign policy issues of politics and not make unity of the country a medium of getting votes.
Owaisi said unity and amity will have to be maintained in the country to defeat forces like Pakistan Army, ISI and others whose aim of life is to weaken India.
Aazad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) MP Chandrashekhar asked the government to clarify who helped the terrorists in crossing the border and entering Pahalgam. 'Had the security agencies received any input about this attack? If yes, then what action was taken on that input? Is the government implementing a standard operating procedure (SOP) for ensuring the safety of tourists? When the security review of sensitive places like Pahalgam was done last time, what shortcomings were found, and why did the Prime Minister not visit Pahalgam after the terror attack?'
Chandrashekhar demanded the government should reinstate Chamar regiment and also form Gujar, Mahto and Yadav regiments in view of rise in terror activities.
Revolutionary Socialist Party's N K Premachandran said when the success stories of Operation Sindoor are being discussed, a critical analysis should also be done of the failures faced during Operation Sindoor and Pahalgam terror attack. Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday said the mining policy being framed by the Centre would provide ease of doing business as all clearances will be given in three months so that the extraction process starts in the fourth said all bottlenecks would be removed under the new mining policy. The Minister for Road Transport and Highways was speaking at the "India@100 charting Vidarbha's journey to a Developed India" in Nagpur. Talking about various developments taking place in Gadchiroli district in Vidarbha in the fields of mining and steel, he said a mining policy was being framed by the central government. "This mining policy came up for an approval in the cabinet meeting recently. However, the prime minister was not fully convinced about it and after I gave some suggestions, he (the PM) directed the cabinet secretary to discuss and review the policy with me," he said. Gadkari said he suggested that the policy should allow the mining process to start as soon as said he suggested that the environmental clearance should be given in a maximum of one month."Similarly, the state and central government will give all the necessary clearances. Accordingly, all required permissions will be given in three months and then production should start in the fourth month," he said."This will create ease of doing business as all bottlenecks will be removed...," he said. Talking about creating more employment opportunities in Vidarbha, the minister recalled the statements of Mahatma Gandhi and country's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Devendra Fadnavis Defends Public Security Bill, Warns Urban Naxals Of Arrest
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has made it clear that the Special Public Security Bill is not for taking action against those who criticise the government, but warned that those who act like urban Naxals will be arrested under it. The Maharashtra Special Public Security Bill, 2024, which seeks to prevent unlawful activities of Left Wing Extremist organisations with focus on urban Naxalism and "passive militancy", was passed by the state legislature during the recent monsoon session of the state legislature. The bill, which has stringent provisions, including hefty fines and jail term up to seven years for those found guilty, has sparked criticism from civil society groups and opposition parties, who view it as a tool to suppress dissent under the pretext of national security. Talking to reporters here on Saturday, Fadnavis said the law was not against demonstrators or those who criticise the government. "If you act like an urban naxal, you will be arrested," he said when asked about Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray's challenge to the CM to arrest his party workers under the newly-passed legislation. On Raj Thackeray's charge that the CM wanted to forcibly teach young children Hindi but not Marathi to those coming from outside, Fadnavis said Marathi is mandatory in Maharashtra, but an additional Indian language should be learnt along with it. "I am opposed to laying a red carpet to English instead of an Indian language," he said.
