Wazza, 39, has been on the hunt for a fresh gig after departing Plymouth Argyle at Christmas.

The Red Devils icon managed just five wins in 25 games over a seven-month period.
And it marked another underwhelming dugout performance following spells at Derby, DC United and Birmingham.
Rooney has since enjoyed spending time as a pundit, working on Amazon Prime while featuring on the Stick to Football podcast.
He also captained and managed England at Soccer Aid earlier this month, scoring the fastest goal in the charity match's history before ex-United teammate Carlos Tevez banged in four to hand victory to a World XI.
However, Rooney is now truly back in the beautiful game after landing a new job.
But it is not another managerial stint for England's former captain.
Instead, Rooney has linked up with a luxury training camp for children called Football Escapes.
The company organises half-term retreats for kids and their parents in exotic locations like Cyprus, Portugal and the Maldives.

Now, Rooney will get his boots back on for an October retreat to Dubai, having previously worked for them during an event in February.
He will teach aspiring youngsters the ropes alongside a fellow Premier League icon in ex-Tottenham and England defender Michael Dawson.
But training with Rooney doesn't come cheap.
Football Escapes are advertising a seven-day stay for a family of four at the 5-star Jumeirah Beach Hotel for £8499 on their website – and that's BEFORE flights.
A statement read: 'By popular demand, Wayne Rooney will be returning to Dubai, alongside Michael Dawson, for a week of Football Escapes magic this October Half Term, 20th - 24th October 2025.
'The kids will train daily, in their personalised kit, with our ambassadors and UEFA-qualified coaches, building their confidence and their skills with coaching from none other than Wayne Rooney.

I had the chance to train with the Emirates Great Britain SailGP team ahead of their home race in Portsmouth come July and their power and endurance is something you just don't grasp when watching on TV For a lot of sports you can make your own, relatively successful, prediction of how fit their competitors are. Rugby players for example speak for themselves, as would say a cyclist or a long distance runner. Their shape and size somewhat giving them away. When it comes to sailing though, me included, to tend to go in slightly blind. When you watch footage of them competing you see as much of the boat as you do the sailors themselves. So when I was invited to train with the Emirates Great Britain SailGP team I wasn't sure what to expect. Alongside myself, a relatively active individual but far from professional athlete, was England rugby great Danny Care and ex-Harlequins and Red Roses star, Shaunagh Brown. We were tasked with five exercises. Some a bit more tailored to sailing, others perhaps favouring rugby and some pretty neutral. Overseeing the action was Professor Greg Whyte OBE - a world renowned sport scientist and the human performance coach to the SailGP Emirates Great Britain team. It is safe to say it only took the first exercise to be complete for me to realise that, yes, these sailors had it. Neil Hunter had all the top tier physical characteristics you'd expect and Nick Hutton was absolutely shredded. Ellie Aldridge, the reserve sailor, was also in top condition. We embarked on a 30 second effort on the grinder. 30 seconds, not long right? Think again. The key here was maximising your output but making sure there wasn't a mammoth drop off. This movement is what trims the sails on the boats when the sailors are competing - in simple terms "the engine of the boat". They can be on these for minutes at a time when competing, but their max efforts had Hutton and Hunter well ahead of the pack. The final five to ten seconds really do take you to a dark place, so I can't fathom what minutes would be like. The SailGP athletes spend around 15 hours a week on that grinder machine. Base endurance is the core of what they are trying to achieve. The boats they compete in are only accessible for events so everything the athletes are doing is simulating race day. Imagine an F1 driver not jumping into the car until the first lap of qualifying. A simple exercise of who can smash out the most chin ups saw sailing edge out rugby with Hutton getting the better of Care - any mself, although that was no great surprise. Efforts on the Wattbike came next with the sailors needing less than ten seconds to produce their max efforts, hitting it hard when they got the go ahead from Whyte. Perhaps a personal highlight, and an entertaining show of competitiveness, was on the sled push. We were all timed and it was a race across eight metres. Pride was clearly at stake and, with one person still left to go, the SailGP Emirates Great Britain team were not top of the leaderboard. Hutton had the final say was told by his colleague Hunter that their reputation rested on him producing on his one and only run. If being out on the water is about relishing the concept of "your time to shine" and producing when its most needed, then boy did the man from Scotland come up trumps. A mega show of power saw him top the time charts to the delight of his team-mates. I think whenever you train with anyone your respect for them goes up and what took me back the most was the sheer power output they were capable of. The Emirates Great Britain team have already claimed victory at one of the events this year, coming out on top in Australia. Ahead of their home race in Portsmouth they look primed to close in on championship leaders Spain.

Enzo Fernandez will be even better next season
The Argentina midfielder, signed from the Portuguese giants for a then British record £106.8million two years ago, took time to find his feet at Stamford Bridge. But he excelled in the second half of the 2024-25 season, finishing the campaign with eight goals, and has continued to shine at the Club World Cup. The 24-year-old scored in the opening win over Los Angeles FC and created two goals in as many minutes as the Blues beat Esperance Tunis 3-0 in their final group game on Tuesday. Their reward is a last-16 clash with Benfica in Charlotte on Saturday. Maresca told reporters at his pre-match press conference: 'I'm very pleased with Enzo, especially because, first of all, he's a nice boy. He's polite, he's a good boy. 'Then he's worked very well in all aspects inside the pitch, outside the pitch. Our struggle at the beginning was (for him) to understand the way we want to play. 'But he is doing fantastic in terms of numbers, goal assists. This is what we want from our attacking players. 'I've said many times that I prefer to have the attacking players score 10-12 goal each, rather than just a striker with 40 goals. 'So his contribution this season has been top and I am sure next season will be even better.' Despite that, Fernandez could face competition for his place after Maresca suggested he sees Brazilian Andrey Santos more as an attacking player than a defensive one. The highly-rated 21-year-old has rejoined the club this summer after a successful loan spell at Strasbourg and made his debut as a second-half substitute against Esperance. Maresca said: 'His season has been very good but I think you need time to adapt. 'In terms of position, I see Andrey in this moment in more like Enzo's position than Romeo's (Lavia) position. 'The Premier League demands (players) to be physically strong. In this moment, I see Andrey more of an attacking player than defensive in the field.' Maresca added that he hopes 19-year-old defender Josh Acheampong will stay with the club despite being linked with Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund. He said: 'My idea or my plan with Josh is quite clear. I think he potentially can be a top defender for this club. I feel the best plan for Josh is to be with us.' Maresca would also like England international Trevoh Chalobah to stay, but offered no guarantees. He said: 'All the players that are here with us, I don't want to lose them but when the transfer window is open, unfortunately, anything can happen – not only for Trevoh, for (all) the 25 players of the squad.' Maresca expects a tight contest against Benfica. He said: 'It's going to be a balanced game, a tough game. In this kind of game the small details are very important.'

Current boss Filipe Luis was a fine left-back in his playing days, and has helped improve the defensive side of his game. With even the biggest Brazilian clubs selling their young stars, one of the ways that they have been becoming more competitive is to buy in from neighbouring countries. In fact, Brazil now treats the rest of South America in the same way that Europe treats Brazil, picking up some of the best talent. Advertisement An excellent recent example is that of Alvaro Montoro, an 18-year-old Argentine who has just been picked up by Botafogo. The attacking midfielder came through the ranks at home with Velez Sarsfield. His breakthrough came in this year's group stages of the Copa Libertadores, South America's Champions League. His skill and strength of character were quickly apparent as he weighed in with three goals. Botafogo signed him on the eve of the Club World Cup. Advertisement They have been delighted by his displays in training - and even more with the substitute appearances he has been making during the competition, where he is looking entirely at home in high pressure situations. He was not considered a big name in 2021 when he was still at home with Independiente Santa Fe. But Fluminense played against him, liked what they saw and picked him up for a bargain fee. Advertisement A squat little figure, for the Colombia national side he is often used as a disciplined member of a central midfield trio. For Fluminense he is a right winger with freedom to roam. He combines well, turns and surges at the opposing defence and - and he showed against Ulsan of South Korea, he strikes a mean free-kick. Arias was by far the best Fluminense player in the side that went down 4-0 to Manchester City in the Intercontinental final at the end of 2023. He demonstrated that he could hold his own in such company, and it is surprising that major European clubs did not make a move. Advertisement Age is against him - he turns 28 in September, and the current market prefers teenagers. But he is so good - and versatile - that someone should surely take a chance. Another Colombian international midfielder who has made his name in Brazil is Richard Rios of Palmeiras. His is a fascinating story. Rios was a futsal player, representing his country in an international tournament in Rio. Flamengo liked what they saw, and offered him an 11-a-side career. Advertisement After bouncing around between Brazil and Mexico, Palmeiras acquired him in 2023 and he has since become a fixture for club and country. Rangy, classy, dynamic and competitive - sometimes too competitive - Rios had an excellent Copa America last year and is confirming the good impression in the current tournament.
