Multi-Million Pound Luxury Holiday Retreat to Open its Gates for Charity Garden Event

A luxury holiday park nestled within one of the UK's most scenic landscapes will unveil the rich beauty of its 120-acre estate for charity.
Maes Mynan Park, located in the tranquil village of Afonwen near Caerwys, Flintshire, is set to open its gates to the public on Saturday July 12 for the National Open Garden Scheme (NGS), which has raised millions of pounds for nursing and health organisations over the years.
Visitors will have the rare opportunity to explore the privately-owned retreat, which lies within the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley National Landscape (AONB).
The multi-million pound site offers a captivating experience, with sweeping panoramic views, woodland, a sequoia grove, freshwater lakes and a stunning array of wild flora and fauna, birds and wildlife that flourish across the diverse landscape.
Acorn Leisure owners Peter and Louise Barlow hope the event's success will amplify both awareness and fundraising efforts.
To that end, there will be 32 stalls to attract footfall and support local businesses and artisans on the day of the event.
'This is a truly magical place that harmoniously blends luxury and nature,' said Louise.
'With its tranquil parkland, amazing panoramic views, lakes and woodland and a history steeped in legends of Welsh princes, Tudor royalty, and local industry, Maes Mynan Park offers a setting unlike any other, so we are delighted to share that with the public in support of such worthy causes.'
Peter added:
'Alongside the beauty of the estate and the significant investment we've made into its development, we believe in sharing this special place with second homeowners who want to be part of a naturally beautiful landscape.
'Opening up the park to the public for charity, so that everyone can enjoy the benefits of the hard work we, as a small team, have undertaken to change this old sand and gravel quarry into a hidden gem, that some call 'Little Switzerland', will be a great experience day for everyone who attends.'
The day will also celebrate sustainability and regional craftsmanship, showcasing more than 30 artisan producers and independent businesses from North Wales and the North West.
Highlights include handcrafted goods and culinary delights from acclaimed names such as Wernog Wood, Little Welsh Aromas, SheepFloof, Karen's Kakes and Confections, Kirsty Williams Ceramics, Cariad Gin, and Griff's Big Ribs BBQ.
Louise added:
'Guests will have the chance to engage with some of the region's finest producers. With handcrafted items, gourmet treats, and seating to admire the views and walks, it promises to be an inspiring and unforgettable day for everyone.'
Proceeds from the event will support a variety of UK charities through the National Garden Scheme, including Hospice UK, Macmillan Cancer Support, and Parkinson's UK.
The Maes Mynan National Open Garden Scheme Day runs from 10.30am to 4.30pm on Saturday July 12. Entry is £4 for adults (donated to NGS and its charities), with free admission for children and on-site parking. Limited wheelchair access available along tarmac road behind the lodge holiday homes.

Noel and Liam Gallagher 'take extreme methods to avoid clash' amid world tour

Following their 16 year rift that broke the band apart Oasis' management placed Liam and Noel Gallagher in separate hotels half an hour away from each other to protect relationship When Liam and Noel Gallagher took to the stage in Cardiff walking out hand in hand, it was a sight many of their original fans thought they would never see in their lifetime. And so in order to maintain their amicable reunion, it has emerged that the brothers were advised to stay in separate hotels for the first gig of their world tour, in a desperate bid to avoid a clash. The brothers, who are famed for their volatile relationship, were placed in hotels half an hour away from each other. According to The Sun on Sunday, the famous duo skipped partying after their first night in the Welsh city and were driven away from the Principality Stadium at approximately 10.30pm. ‌ ‌ A source told the publication: "The atmosphere was absolutely electric and Liam and Noel were delighted with the first night. They were a bit shell-shocked." They added: "It went better than anyone could have imagined. The lead up has all been carefully orchestrated, as everyone knows how delicate and fragile Liam and Noel's relationship is." The insider close to the band continued: "They don't want to over-expose themselves to each other. Having separate residences is the best option so they can relax in their own space." They explained: "They stayed in separate locations outside the city around half an hour away from each other." "They're happy families at the moment and they want to keep it that way. Liam has been off the booze for a while and sounds better than ever," they added. According to the source, Liam is determined to get eight hours sleep a night and is steering clear of alcohol and partying. ‌ Fans were left in awe as the band, who were once synonymous with the stereotypical rock and roll lifestyle, belted out their iconic hits including Wonderwall, Stand By Me, Live Forever and Half The World Away. And it seems a contributing factor in Liam's clean living lifestyle is his partner Debbie Gwyther. The source continued: "Debbie protects him from all the hype so he doesn't get carried away. They've swapped out Guinness for zero per cent alcohol beers and keep the vibe backstage as chilled as possible." ‌ Partying in the crows were Noel's daughter Anais, 25 and her mum Meg Matthews, 59. Liam's sons Lennon, 25 and Gene, 24, were also at Friday's gig. It has been reported that the Cardiff gig was emotional for their children who never thought the day would arrive when they would see their dad on stage as Oasis. And Anais was reportedly a "driving force in helping to reunite the brothers who at the time showed no intention of making the peace. The Mirror has contacted reps for Oasis for a comment.

Number of employee-owned businesses in Wales nears 100

As of now, 95 businesses in the country are employee-owned, surpassing the Welsh Government's target of reaching 74 by 2026. The announcement comes on Employee Ownership Day, celebrated for highlighting the advantages of businesses owned by their employees. Research indicates that such businesses are particularly successful, with employees showing increased engagement and commitment. The commercial benefits of this model are proving increasingly appealing to entrepreneurs, who see it as a way to attract and reward talented employees, while also fuelling business growth. One business that has transitioned to employee ownership is Cambrian Training Group. The Welshpool company, a leading provider of apprenticeship and vocational training across the country, celebrated 30 years in business by becoming employee owned earlier this year. The company was established in 1995 as a subsidiary of Mid Wales Tourism to deliver vocational and hospitality skills as part of the development of the region's tourism sector. It now employs 65 staff and has expanded its work-based learning, skills and apprenticeship programmes into a range of other sectors, including manufacturing, retail, and financial services. Arwyn Watkins OBE, of Cambrian Training Group, said: "Securing Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) status is a significant step in our journey. "Our employees are at the heart of everything we do, and this move ensures that they have a direct stake in our continued success. "The decision to move towards an EOT rather than opting for a trade sale was motivated by the desire to sustain the company's culture, values, and commitment to quality over the long term." Welsh Government's Business Wales and Social Business Wales service offers specialist advice to support such employee buy outs. The services offer fully funded and bespoke help to business owners contemplating employee ownership and share schemes. Rebecca Evans, cabinet secretary for economy, energy and planning, said: "By improving employee well-being and job satisfaction, the employee-ownership model plays a key part in strengthening the foundations on which every successful business is built. "I urge more businesses to explore the benefits on offer via Business Wales and Social Business Wales, to ensure Wales-based companies remain in Welsh hands."

Where to stay for the Wrexham Eisteddfod this August

The influx is due to the National Eisteddfod, which will take place in August and is expected to bring high demand for accommodation throughout the region. Caravan camping on the Eisteddfod Maes has already sold out, though limited tent pitches are still available both onsite and at the new Hwyrnos location. A spokesman for Wrexham Council said: "If you still haven't managed to arrange your accommodation for the Eisteddfod week, some availability remains within the area, although as demand is high, we'd recommend securing your booking as soon as possible." The council highlighted Wrexham's wide selection of verified hotels, bed and breakfasts, self-catering accommodation, and holiday parks—all ready to offer a warm Welsh welcome/ Visitors are encouraged to explore the wider region if they struggle to find accommodation in Wrexham itself. Regional tourism partners have listings for nearby areas, including Go North Wales, Visit Chester & Cheshire, and Visit Shropshire. Councillor Nigel Williams, lead member for economy, regeneration, and tourism, said: "If you're staying in the Wrecsam area for Eisteddfod week – why not explore some of our local attractions too? "We're home to the 11-mile UNESCO World Heritage Site at Pontcysyllte, we have two National Trust Estates (Erddig and Chirk Castle), plus other great places to visit such as the picturesque Ceiriog Valley on the edge of the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Xplore Science Discovery Centre, Ty Pawb (arts, markets and food hall), a vibrant traffic-free city centre, great pubs and bars including the Saith Seren (our Cymraeg community centre and pub), as well as some great places to eat. "We can't wait to give a Wrecsam Croeso to everyone." READ MORE: Young people share thousands of ideas to help shape the future of Wrexham The council has also encouraged local tourism businesses to make use of the free Helo Blod translation service to add a Welsh-language welcome to their marketing materials. Official accommodation listings for Wrexham County can be found on the Visit Wales website, while the North East Wales tourism partnership also offers a selection of accredited providers. For those willing to stay further afield, additional options are available through Visit Chester & Cheshire, Visit Shropshire, and Go North Wales.
