Sweet Home of: The Choppak cheeseburger meal

Axios07-04-2025
I've driven past Choppers on Ashland hundreds of times, always wondering about the mysterious Choppak. This month, I finally tried it for our Sweet Home series.
The dish: The Choppak ($9.99) features a big juicy double cheeseburger layered with lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, mustard and ketchup on a griddle-toasted bun that's always paired with creamy coleslaw and thick, crunchy steak fries.
Proper pronunciation: While most people call it a CHOH-pak, the menu calls it a "happy meal for adults" or a Choppers package.
So, should we be saying CHOP-pack? Technically, yes, but staffers say no one really does.
The big question: A guy in line behind me said he regularly drives from the South Side for his Choppak fix, so I wondered how it compares to the South Side's famous Big Baby double cheese.

Apple fans snap up iPad Pro as Sky offers up payday deal for £27 a month

Sky is giving shoppers the chance to get the Apple iPad Pro by spreading the cost Apple enthusiasts who've just received their pay and are in the mood for a bit of indulgence might be in luck. Sky is currently offering Apple's top-of-the-range iPad Pro for just £27 a month, but only for a limited period. The latest model is Apple's premier tablet available - and it's now up for grabs with an option to spread the cost. The iPad Pro boasts the potent Apple M4 chip, a revolutionary dual OLED display, and naturally, all-day battery life. Sky is currently selling the 11-inch version for £27 a month but for those desiring a larger screen and more storage, the 13-inch model is also on offer for £37 a month. It's worth noting that each of these tablets comes with a 48-month contract - however, Sky lets customers trade in within 36 months of the contract ending. Apple aficionados have the option to shorten the contract if they're not keen on committing for that long - but be ready to shell out more each month. But for shoppers who don't care about the Apple ecosystem, there's alternatives to go for. Shoppers could pick up the Samsung Galaxy S9 FE for £449, complete with a free S Pen. Alternatively, for £17 a month, Apple fans can get the 11-inch iPad Air device with the new M3 chip. And for those pondering whether the M4 Apple iPad Pro is worth the investment, take our word for it - it's definitely a worthy purchase. So much so, tech reviewers at our sister paper the Daily Express awarded it nearly full stars when it was reviewed. Tech editor Dave Snelling commented at the time: "There's simply no denying that the new iPad Pro remains the best tablet you can buy. The new slimline design is simply stunning, the M4 processor is ludicrously powerful and the upgraded OLED screen is a thing of absolute beauty. "It's a total joy to use, especially with Apple fixing a number of issues found on the older models such as the front-facing camera placement and boost to the base-level storage. The Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard accessories are also improved, and you get other first-rate features, including amazing speakers, 5G connectivity, fast Wi-Fi and a decent rear camera. "It's very hard to knock the iPad Pro; in fact, it's pretty much perfect." However, Snelling did express some reservations about the device, adding: "The two problems here are the price and if you actually need all that power. There's now that upgraded M2 Air on sale from £599 or you could simply buy the 10th Gen model at the new price of £349. These are both excellent devices that do much the same thing as the Pro but without making such a big dent in your bank balance. "Yet, if you're after the crème de la crème of iPads and the cost doesn't deter you, then there truly is no better option than the 2024 Pro. It's both stunning and a powerhouse - we're thoroughly smitten with it."
