"There was a medical emergency involving one of our pilots in the early hours of July 4. As a result, the pilot was unable to operate the flight AI2414 from Bengaluru to Delhi, that he was rostered for, and was taken to a local hospital immediately," Air India said in a statement.
"He is currently stable but continues to be under the supervision of doctors at the same hospital," the airline said.
Live Events
Recently, India's civil aviation regulator has pulled up Air India for serious and repeated violations of crew safety norms, ordering the removal of three senior officials, head of crew rostering, from their positions in the airline's scheduling department.
The aviation watchdog has asked the Tata Group-owned airline to initiate internal disciplinary proceedings against these officials without delay. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has identified Choorah Singh, Divisional Vice President, Pinky Mittal, Chief Manager - DOPS, Crew Scheduling, and Payal Arora, Crew Scheduling - Planning directly, responsible for the continued non-compliance.
The action comes after Air India voluntarily disclosed that flight crew were being scheduled and operated in violation of licensing, flight duty time, and rest period regulations, key requirements for flight safety.

India draws red lines on key sectors as interim trade deal with US nears July 9 deadline: Report
With India setting its red lines on key issues in sectors such as agriculture and dairy for the proposed interim trade agreement with the US, the ball is now in Washington's court to finalise the deal, sources said. read more India has set clear red lines on critical sectors such as agriculture and dairy in negotiations for an interim trade agreement with the United States, leaving the next move to Washington, official sources said. The two sides are working against a fast-approaching July 9 deadline, which marks the end of a 90-day suspension period for the 26% reciprocal tariffs imposed by the US on Indian goods. These additional duties announced on April 2 as part of broader tariff hikes on dozens of countries were temporarily held back to allow space for trade negotiations. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'If the proposed trade talks fail, the 26 per cent tariffs will come into force again,' one of the sources said. India is seeking full exemption from the 26% tariff, though the 10% baseline duty remains in place. Officials said that if all contentious issues are resolved, an interim pact could be announced before the deadline. In February, India and the US launched formal talks for a broader bilateral trade agreement (BTA), with both countries aiming to conclude the first phase of the BTA by fall (September–October). The interim deal is intended as a stepping stone toward that goal. 'India has drawn its red lines… now the ball is in the US court,' a source told PTI, adding that resolution on agriculture and dairy sectors that have historically proved sensitive will be key to concluding the interim agreement. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal last week stated that India does not enter into any trade agreement based on deadlines and will accept the proposed trade deal with the US only when it is fully finalised, properly concluded and in the national interest. FTAs are possible only when both sides get benefitted and it should be a win-win agreement, he has said. 'National interest should always be supreme. Keeping that in mind, if a deal is made then India is always ready to deal with developed countries,' Goyal had said on July 4. The Indian team returned from Washington last week after holding talks with the US on an interim trade pact. Differences are also there on steel, aluminium (50 per cent) and auto (25 per cent) tariffs. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD India has hardened its position on giving duty concessions to the US on agriculture and dairy products as both are sensitive subjects. India has never opened the dairy sector in any of the previous trade pacts signed. US President Donald Trump last week said his administration is sending letters to the first batch of 10-12 countries, sharing details of reciprocal tariff rates and the entire process could be completed by July 9. His comments came amid increasing suspense in India on whether New Delhi and Washington would be able to firm up a much-anticipated trade deal before the US president's tariff deadline ends. He has, however, not named the countries. The president has stated that the reciprocal tariffs would come into effect from August 1. While the US is looking at duty concessions in sectors like certain industrial goods, automobiles (electric vehicles particularly), wines, petrochemical products, dairy, and agriculture items such as apples, tree nuts, and alfalfa hay; India may look at duty cuts for labour-intensive sectors like apparels, textiles, gems and jewellery, leather, plastics, chemicals, oil seeds, shrimp, and horticulture products. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The US is India's largest trading partner from 2021-22. During 2024-25, the bilateral trade in goods stood at USD 131.84 billion (USD 86.51 billion worth of exports, USD 45.33 billion of imports and USD 41.18 billion trade surplus). India's merchandise exports to the US rose 21.78 per cent to USD 17.25 billion in April-May this fiscal year, while imports rose 25.8 per cent to USD 8.87 billion. The two-way trade in services expanded from USD 54.1 billion in 2018 to an estimated USD 70.5 billion in 2024. India is also a key destination for American businesses such as professional, scientific, and technical services, manufacturing, and IT. The US accounts for about 18 per cent of India's total goods exports and over 6 per cent in imports and about 11 per cent in bilateral trade. India received USD 70.65 billion between April 2000 and March 2025, making Washington the third largest investor. In 2024, India's main exports to the US included drug formulations and biologicals (USD 8.1 billion), telecom instruments (USD 6.5 billion), precious and semi-precious stones (USD 5.3 billion), petroleum products (USD 4.1 billion), gold and other precious metal jewellery (USD 3.2 billion), ready-made garments of cotton, including accessories (USD 2.8 billion), and products of iron and steel (USD 2.7 billion). STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Imports included crude oil (USD 4.5 billion), petroleum products (USD 3.6 billion), coal, coke (USD 3.4 billion), cut and polished diamonds (USD 2.6 billion), electric machinery (USD 1.4 billion), aircraft, spacecraft and parts (USD 1.3 billion), and gold (USD 1.3 billion). All About UAE's New Golden Visa For Indians: Eligibility, Perks And More
Dubai: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has made its residency program more accessible to professionals across sectors. The Gulf nation has introduced a new type of Golden Visa based on nomination, albeit with some conditions, unlike the current practice of investing large amounts in either property or business in the country. The move comes as good news for Indian nationals, who make up one of the largest expat communities in the UAE. The expanded Golden Visa targets nurses, educators and content creators, broadening the pool beyond the original entrepreneur, investor, student and specialist segments drawn to the South Asian country by its tax advantages, world-class infrastructure, and stability. What The Golden Visa Originally Offered Launched in 2019, the program was originally tailored for high-net-worth individuals via real estate investment. In 2022, the minimum property threshold for a 10-year visa was dropped to AED 2 million, opening doors to a broader pool of investors. Immigrants could also get Dubai's Golden Visa by investing a large amount in a business in the country. What New Program Offers Apart from investors, entrepreneurs, and top students, the Golden Visa was expanded in May to now covers scientists, executives, frontline workers, school teachers, principals, and university faculty, nurses with 15+ years of experience, YouTubers, podcasters, and digital creators, accredited e-sports professionals above the age of 25, and Luxury yacht owners and maritime executives. Under the "new nomination-based visa policy," Indians can now enjoy the UAE's Golden Visa for life by paying a fee of AED 1,00,000 (INR around 23.30 lakh), beneficiaries and people involved in the process have told news agency PTI. Over 5,000 Indians are expected to apply for the nomination-based visa in three months, they said. India On The Testing Group India and Bangladesh have been selected for the first phase of testing this visa, and a consultancy named Rayad Group has been chosen to test the initial form of the nomination-based golden visa in India. According to Rayad Kamal Ayub, Managing Director of Rayad Group, Indias have a "golden opportunity" to get the UAE's Golden Visa. The Selection Process "Whenever an applicant applies for this Golden Visa, we will first check their background, which will include anti-money laundering and criminal record checks, as well as their social media," said Rayad Kamal told PTI. The background check will also show if and how the applicant can benefit the UAE's market and business activities in any other way, such as culture, finance, trade, science, Start-up, professional services, etc. "After this, RayadGroup will send the application to the government, which will make the final decision on the nomination-based Golden Visa," he added. Applicants seeking the UAE Golden Visa under the nomination category may obtain pre-approval from their home country without the need to visit Dubai. "Applications can be submitted through One VASCO centres (visa concierge service company) in India and Bangladesh, our registered offices, our online portal, or our dedicated call centre," he added. Benefits Of The UAE's Golden Visa After getting the Golden Visa, one gets the freedom to bring his or her family members to Dubai. "You can also keep servants and drivers based on this visa. You can do any business or professional work here," Rayad Kamal said, adding that the property-based Golden Visa ends in case of property sale or division, but the nomination-based visa will remain forever. The UAE government's initiative and India's selection as the first country for this visa reflect the strong business, cultural, and geopolitical relations between India and the UAE, which have become stronger after the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the two countries, effective May 2022. The Golden Visa nomination process is an agreement between the UAE and its (Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement) CEPA signatory/partner countries. This is a pilot project which has started with India and Bangladesh and will soon include China and other CEPA countries. RayadGroup and VFS have been chosen to vet the applicants and then forward them to the UAE authorities.
