Lorraine Kelly says Mariah Carey was 'refreshed' and Lady Gaga never showed for interviews
Lorraine Kelly has been at the helm of her self-titled ITV daytime show for 15 years and within that period she has chatted with thousands of A-listers. Recently though, Lorraine shed light on the two celebrities who delivered the least pleasant experiences during their time together.
Speaking at the 2025 Hay Festival of Literature and Arts, a bold audience member fished for juicy revelations. Not shy about naming favourites, Lorraine warmly recalled her time with George Clooney.
"George Clooney is adorable. He just is. He's my favourite," Lorraine gushed over. Yet it appears that encounters with personalities like Mariah Carey and Lady Gaga weren't quite as charming, each leaving a different kind of sour note.
Lorraine disclosed that conversing with Mariah Carey was a bizarre ordeal. Reflecting on the peculiar situation, Lorraine explained: "The one that was difficult, not because she was horrible... but Mariah Carey was 'refreshed'. It's good we were [pre-recording] it because her first answer was 10 minutes long, and did not make any sense.
"But I always give people the benefit of the doubt."
When it came to Lady Gaga, the songstress kept Lorraine on tenterhooks for an exasperating five or six hours, all ending in no actual interview, reports the Mirror.
Exasperated, Lorraine recalled: "They kept saying 'she's getting in the car, she's getting in the car', and of course my crew have all been up since God knows when... they need to go home to bed!" Lorraine then shared, "She never turned up; I don't know what happened there."
The host's revelations come in the wake of speculation that she might leave her morning ITV show at the end of next year, following a significant reshuffle of the daytime schedule.
Lorraine will now only be broadcast for 30 weeks a year instead of throughout the year, with each episode being reduced from an hour to 30 minutes. A source disclosed to the Mirror: "Lorraine was not happy about what is happening and also had concern for the production team which will be cut back too."
A source informed The Sun on Sunday: "Lorraine was asked if she wanted to retire, having just celebrated her 40 years on breakfast TV, but she instead chose to see out her contract.
"Bosses thought it would be an ideal opportunity for her to spend more time with family, especially given how little she was on her own show last year. Many think it is unlikely she will stay on after her current contract and that is further proven by the fact that the boss of her show will be part-time and on a one-year contract.
"She is a hugely valued member of the ITV history and is likely to do other shows at the channel, with some thinking she may explore documentaries, travelogues and passion projects."
The Mirror has reached out to a representative of Lorraine for comment.
It's not only Lorraine's show that's been impacted by the cuts. Loose Women will also occupy the 12.30-1.30pm slot on a seasonal basis of 30 weeks.

Hollyoaks tour cancelled ahead of huge anniversary over 'low ticket sales'
The upcoming Hollyoaks Live tour has been dropped by its promoters, who are said to have 'over-estimated' the appeal for the production, which is external to the TV show A huge tour for a major TV show has been dramatically axed due to low ticket sales. Hollyoaks Live, which is an external production from the Channel 4 soap opera, was expected to hit the road, giving fans an insight into the popular programme but bosses have been forced to pull the plug. But while a string of famous faces from the show had signed on the dotted line to meet with fans, the production, which was due to take place in October, will no longer be going ahead. Soap stars including Nick Pickard, Kieron Richardson, Jorgie Porter, Gary Lucy, and Ashley Taylor Dawson were set to meet fans who had splashed out a whopping £161 for meet and greet tickets, allowing them to ask burning questions about their favourite TV show. It comes after reports Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set for new 'goldmine' offer - but could face issue. However, sources have claimed that bosses behind the production had "overestimated" the appeal for the show, which was due to take place in Manchester, Glasgow and London, had been left with no option but to cancel the entire tour. "The promoter massively over-estimated the appeal a live stage show would have to Hollyoaks' core audience," a source said. They went on to tell The Sun: "The ticket prices were incredibly high for a show that's popular with teenagers. "The decision was made to pull the tour rather than have a loss-making venture with empty theatres." But those who purchased tickets for the events will be offered refunds at their points of purchase. It's understood that the tour was organised by an external production team, with Hollyoaks and Channel 4 having very limited involvement in the planning. A spokesperson for the tour said in a statement: "Due to unforeseen circumstances, the planned theatre events with Maple Tree Entertainment featuring Hollyoaks cast are not going to take place as planned. "We are sad to disappoint those who had purchased tickets but they will be refunded via the venues." However, it's a stark contrast for ITV soap, Coronation Street, which is going ahead with a live theatre tour. Long standing cast members from the Manhcester based soap opera will appear at theatres across the nation to discuss their time on the show, in a production which has been billed An Audience with Coronation Street. Fans will pay more than £30 with the promoters promising "behind-the-scenes secrets, share hilarious stories, and relive heart-warming moments from the iconic ITV show". Hosted by This Morning's resident soap expert, Sharon Marshall, the show promises to be filled with laughter, nostalgia, and "more than a few jaw-dropping surprises!" Each event will feature five Coronation Street stars live on stage, including a surprise Corrie legend. The line-up will vary at each venue, with fan-favourite cast members including Andrew Whyment (Kirk Sutherland), Jack P Shepherd (David Platt), Samia Longchambon (Maria Connor), and Simon Gregson (Steve McDonald), with more names to be announced soon. Additionally, former show legends will also appear on stage. The tour will start in September and includes dates in London, Sheffield, Manchester and Glasgow. Liam Neeson 'madly in love' with Pamela Anderson as couple spark romance rumours

The tight connection between Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson has sparked global speculation as the duo remain tight-lipped about whether romance is blossoming between them.
