Karisma Kapoor replaced Juhi Chawla in this superhit film, shook Box Office with its earnings; Movie is…

You may have often heard about actors or actresses in the film industry being replaced overnight by other stars. This isn't something new; it has been happening for decades. Sometimes, it's due to scheduling conflicts or other reasons. Something similar happened almost 30 years ago, when Juhi Chawla was the first choice of the filmmakers for a particular film. She was even signed for the role, but due to unforeseen reasons, she backed out. The role eventually went to Karisma Kapoor, and the film featured Govinda as the male lead. We are talking about a 1995 comedy masala, directed by David Dhawan. It was one of the first successful movies of Karisma Kapoor. Over the years, the movie has become a cult classic and is now considered one of the greatest Hindi films ever made. The name of the film is ' Coolie No. 1 ' and the fact is also true that Dhawan first reached out to Juhi for the lead actress role. But it had to go to Karisma. In the 1990s, Govinda and Karisma Kapoor were one of the most popular on-screen pairs, delivering several superhit romantic comedies. One such iconic film was Coolie No. 1. Let's find out why Juhi opted out of the project and how much the film went on to earn at the box office. Why did Karisma Kapoor replace Juhi Chawla in Coolie No. 1? According to IMDb, producer Vashu Bhagnani and director David Dhawan initially wanted to cast Juhi Chawla as the lead actress in Coolie No. 1. At the time, Juhi was busy shooting for Ram Jaane with Shah Rukh Khan and was also committed to several other projects. Due to her packed schedule, the role eventually went to Karisma Kapoor. In the film, Kapoor played her character brilliantly, and Govinda's comedy made it even more successful. You can watch the film Coolie No. 1 for free on YouTube. According to Sacnilk, the film was made on a budget of Rs 3.50 crore and went on to earn Rs 21.15 crore worldwide. Saiyaara Director Mohit Suri Says Film Sets Are His Home: 'I've Been There Since I Was 17'

Last Updated: Saiyaara director Mohit Suri believes film sets prepared him for life as a filmmaker. He spent over 50% of his life on sets, starting as an assistant at 17 and directing at 22. Director Mohit Suri, who has turned the tides for the struggling Hindi film industry with his film 'Saiyaara', has spent a generous part of his life on film sets. The director feels that being on sets prepared him for life as a filmmaker, and taught him the conviction to believe in his stories and his actors. The director spoke with IANS in the light of humongous success of 'Saiyaara', and shared that his conduct on a film set comes from years of subconscious learning during his stint as an assistant director. Mohit told IANS, 'I've been on the set since I was 17. I was an assistant director for five years, and then I started directing at the age of 22. I spent more than 50% of my life on a set and being a director. Now I'm 44. I think that's the real me". He said that film sets are his natural space, and he not social events or media events, where he has to play the character called Mohit Suri. He continued, 'I think I'm doing a performance where I'm living in real life. When I have to go socializing, for clubbing, when I went there, they cut a cake for me in my club. I'm acting there, I didn't know how to fit in there. I'm very comfortable on the set and I want to be on the set for the rest of my life. So if you ask me, for me, it's like breathing about how I have to conduct myself on a film set. For me, to make friends on a film set is way easier than to make friends in real life". 'I cry, I laugh, I'm serious when I have to be, I'm light-hearted when I need to be. But it's the natural me. The unnatural me is when I have to go out for social events", he added.
