Nebraska coach Matt Rhule praises quarterback Dylan Raiola during radio appearance
Nebraska's head football coach had high praise for his starting quarterback. Matt Rhule made the comments about sophomore starting quarterback Dylan Raiola while appearing on the Jim Rome Show last week. Rhule not only praised his quarterback's leadership but also disclosed that multiple schools had contacted Raiola, despite his never entering the transfer portal.
'And everyone reached out to him. He could have taken the easy way out and left and gone into the portal and gone to someplace where he could start over where he doesn't have to do as much himself. But he chose to stick it out and fight."
The quarterback will also work out with some elite talent later this month. Raiola will be attending the Manning Passing Academy on the campus of Nicholls State University from June 26 to June 29. The Cornhuskers' head coach also praised the off-the-field traits that Raiola has developed since the end of last season.
"Where I see him growing is in the phases of leadership and the phases of mental toughness, handling adversity. I think he's going to have a great year."
Nebraska will open the 2025 college football season on Thursday, August 28, when the Huskers face the Cincinnati Bearcats at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. The kickoff time has not been determined yet.

Texas A&M transfer Chris Hacopian dominates Cape League with Player of the Week nod
Summer league baseball has treated Texas A&M players well across their respective leagues. The Cape Cod Baseball League recently recognized an Aggie transfer as its Player of the Week. On July 27, third baseman Chris Hacopian was named the Cape Cod Baseball League Franklin Sports Player of the Week. He dominated against high-level competition, leading the league with nine hits and tying for the lead in total bases with 12. He slashed .500/.526/.667/1.193, racking up three RBIs and a stolen base with the Y-D Red Sox. Hacopian has been a standout all summer, ranking in the top 10 for hits (32), doubles (6), and triples (1). He also placed in the top 20 for RBIs (16), batting average (.274), slugging percentage (.393), and OPS (.739). These numbers bode well for Aggie fans eager to see another reliable bat in the 2026 lineup. Check out the official announcement from the Cape League's X account below. Shedeur Sanders' Madden 26 rookie rating revealed
Madden ratings for Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel are out 🫣🫣🫣🫣Shedeur - 67Gabriel - 66 EA Sports released its Madden 26 ratings on Wednesday, and while Travis Hunter was the top-rated rookie, where did his former Colorado football teammate and Cleveland Browns rookie Shedeur Sanders land? Sanders experienced an unprecedented draft slide and was not selected by the Browns until the fifth round, but he still ranks as Madden 26's No. 4 rookie quarterback. Sanders holds an overall rating of 67, which is higher than his Browns teammate Dillon Gabriel (66 OVR). The former Colorado star also owns a 78 speed rating, 65 strength, 81 agility, 79 change of direction, 94 injury and 58 awareness. It is mildly surprising to see Tyler Shough ranked ahead of Sanders, but with Shough's speed rating sitting at 84, the difference likely comes from that. Sanders will have a chance to improve his rating throughout the season, and so far during training camp, he has looked the part. Follow Charlie Strella on X, Threads and Instagram. UNC WBB to open up 2025-2026 season against 3-time National Champions
Who will the UNC women's basketball team face to kick off its 2025-2026 season? See you in the ATL 👋 Under the guidance of head coach Courtney Banghart, the UNC women's basketball team is turning itself back into a talented, respectable postseason regular. North Carolina made a Sweet 16 run during its 2024-2025 campaign, the second time doing so in four seasons. The Tar Heels beat Oregon State and West Virginia en route to this year's Sweet 16, before falling to archrival Duke. UNC competes with and knows how to beat the country's top teams, as evidenced by victories last year over ranked Kentucky, Duke, California and NC State squads. North Carolina will start its 2025-2026 season against the best team across women's college basketball. On Tuesday, the Tar Heels announced they will face the South Carolina Gamecocks on Thursday, October 30 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. This is the first announcement of any UNC opponent for next season. North Carolina officially kicked off its 2024-2025 slate with a November 4 thrashing of Charleston Southern, so expect a regular-season game to short follow South Carolina this season. The Tar Heels and Gamecocks are no stranger to each other, most recently facing off in the 2023 ACC-SEC Challenge. UNC nearly shocked the college basketball world on that November 30 night, holding a halftime lead, but the eventual NCAA Tournament Champions pulled away for a 65-58 victory. North Carolina will return 10 players from last year's roster, most notably guards Reniya Kelly and Lanie Grant, but says goodbye to the talented leadership trio of Alyssa Ustby, Maria Gakdeng and Lexi Donarski. The Tar Heels will be tested early and, even though their matchup with South Carolina won't count for anything official, can prove they belong amongst the country's top programs with a strong showing.
