'We've tested hundreds of 2025's best cars and our favourite is near-faultless'
A team of car experts who have put hundreds of vehicles through their paces have unveiled their top choice from 2025's motors.
The experts from prestigious magazine Auto Express have scrutinised numerous motors to determine which model currently available in Britain reigns supreme.
Following thorough deliberation, they plumped for an electric car from a well-regarded Czech-German brand that's been making waves both on the road and racing circuit lately. The vehicle that won the day the Skoda Elroq, an electric family car.
When examining the Elroq, the testers praised it as a car that perfectly showcased Skoda's finest qualities, from its reasonable pricing to its impressive interior dynamics, reports the Express.
They noted that the Elroq clearly enhanced what Skoda has established its reputation on recently, whilst proving their forward progress remains unstoppable as the automotive world shifts towards electric cars.
They concluded: "In the end, however, we chose the car which, try as we might, we struggled to find any obvious faults with - and that all-round strength sealed its position.
"Everything we've come to expect and love from a Skoda is right here, with value for money at the forefront of everything it does. This is an EV that starts from not much over £30,000 yet feels like a car that's sized a class above most alternatives at that price point.
"The good news for the Elroq is that there's loads more to recommend. If Skoda wanted a model to showcase what its brand is all about, the Elroq shouts those qualities louder than any other. It's as close to faultless as a family car can be, and that's why it's a deserving winner."
Skoda isn't merely thriving in the new car market, but on the used car one too. Skodas are demonstrating their appeal as well. Motoring authority Mike Brewer has endorsed the Skoda Yeti as an excellent pre-owned purchase.
The Wheeler Dealers presenter told Car Dealer Magazine: "If you're looking for a bit more space for the family and you need to catty all that kit and caboodle around, then another recommendation would be the Skoda Yeti.
"Now this is a really strong car. It's got a really good VW platform that sits underneath it. They are reliable, they are rough and tough. You can bash them round. They've got hard plastics on the inside.
"If they get stained on the seats, they clean up really well. Think about those littleuns' in the back drinking their fruit juice. These cars are really hardy and that's why I'd recommend a Skoda Yeti.
"And Skoda aren't like they used to be. They really are great cars today."

Arsenal Files: Still no Benjamin Sesko transfer offer as Gunners wait for nervous Leipzig to act
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THERE is a growing sense of fear and anxiety at the Red Bull Arena around the future of Benjamin Sesko. RB Leipzig are in desperate need to sell players to rebuild their squad after missing out on Champions League football last season. Last summer, they raked in around £85m from Dani Olmo and Mohamed Sinakan. The year before, a whopping total of around £188m for Christopher Nkunku, Dominik Szoboszlai and Josko Gvardiol. And in 2021, they managed to convince Bayern Munich to fork out a record-breaking £21m to lure manager Julian Nagelsmann away. They had hoped that winger Xavi Simons – who they signed for a club record £70m including add-ons in January before asking to leave this summer – could generate a good return, but his recent form has not turned heads. In this window then, Leipzig have accepted that Sesko, 22, will be the man to fill up their kitty. The issue is that Arsenal have still not made a bid – and that is seriously worrying the German club. CASINO SPECIAL - BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS SunSport understands that, as it stands, negotiations over a fee that both clubs are happy to shake hands on are at a stalemate. And there are no signs of progressing, despite Arsenal and boss Mikel Arteta's well-documented admiration of the young Slovenian. Arsenal consider around £60m a fair price. Leipzig would prefer upwards of £70m, but the Gunners are ready to dig their heels in and hold out, playing hardball for their man. Arsenal know that Leipzig are getting desperate, in a weak negotiating position financially, and they are confident they represent Sesko's best chance of a move this summer with other suitors, for now, looking elsewhere for a No.9. Sesko's agent Elvis Basanovic has so far been reluctant to pressure Leipzig into a sale. There are frustrations that the 'gentleman's agreement' the the striker could leave for £60m is in danger of being broken. But Sesko's entourage know relations need to be kept sweet should his player stay in Germany, and has been keeping a lower profile than usual. 6 Inside Arsenal's frustrating striker transfer saga By Jordan Davies ARSENAL'S never-ending hunt for a world-class striker is in turmoil as deals for Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres stall. The Gunners were confident of doing their business quickly this summer after months of preparation by boss Mikel Arteta and new sporting director Andrea Berta. But inflated asking prices and broken gentlemen's agreements have derailed those plans and left Arsenal frustrated. Sesko believed he would be allowed to leave RB Leipzig for around £60million, while SunSport understands Gyokeres was told £59m would be enough to seal his own exit. But those price-tags have gone up, leaving Arsenal debating whether they represent value for money. While the players' camps are also growing restless, knowing the Gunners can only sign one of them. So what next? Will Arsenal keep waiting in the hope of fees eventually going down? Or turn to other targets, like Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike? Whatever they decide, with pre-season looming and the fixtures already out, Arteta will be desperate for them to move quickly to avoid another nearly season. The hope for Arsenal is that, in the coming weeks, Leipzig lose patience and lower their asking price, in need of the funds as soon as possible to get their own deals over the line. But SunSport understands they have still not yet highlighted a preferred Sesko replacement. There is, however, a growing unrest within the Leipzig fanbase which could also force the club's hand in negotiations. There are concerns Sesko will not react well to not getting his move, especially given their absence from the Champions League. Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta will not wait around forever though. The ideally want a striker through the door before their pre-season tour of Singapore and Hong Kong on July 19. And they have maintained an interest in Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres and Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike should the Sesko move collapse. In short, it looks a mess from the outside, but Arsenal remain calm over their approach. 6 Former Man Utd star Gabriel Heinze is getting straight to work in his new Arsenal role Credit: Getty HEINZE STRAIGHT IN FORMER Manchester United and Real Madrid defender Gabriel Heinze will join Mikel Arteta's coaching staff at Arsenal. The Argentine will fill in after the recent departure of assistant Carlos Cuesta, who became Parma's new head coach. And SunSport understands that Heinze is set to get straight to work by joining the squad on their warm-weather trip to Spain next week ahead of their pre-season two-week tour of Asia from July 19. Arteta is keen to integrate Heinze, 47, with the players quickly to develop lasting relationships, as well as helping his new man get to grips with the demands of supporting a Premier League squad. Argentine coach Heinze has spent most of his managerial career in his home nation, as well as a short stint in the MLS with Atlanta United.

Parking mistake could cost drivers £2,500 and points on their licence
Experts have warned drivers that they could be hit with a hefty fine and points on their licence for making a simple parking mistake - here's everything you need to know Experts have issued a stark caution to drivers, highlighting a common parking mistake that could leave them with hefty fines and jeopardize the safety of their car. Select Car Leasing has stressed that vehicles should never be left unattended without the handbrake being applied, even if they're parked in gear. Managing director Graham Conway implored motorists to engage the parking brake whenever leaving their vehicle. His advice was uncompromising: "The law is clear - you must use your vehicle's parking brake each and every time you leave it unattended." READ MORE: Kickers' 'durable' Back to School shoe range that 'last all year' He added a stern warning stating, "Simply leaving it in gear - even if you're on a completely flat road - to prevent movement simply isn't enough, and you're liable for a major fine and points on your licence." Under the rules set out by the Highway Code, it is mandated that drivers must shut off the engine and put the handbrake on before exiting an unattended vehicle, reports the Express. Although some may regard it as common sense, adhering to this guideline can avoid the potential for a vehicle to roll away, potentially colliding with other cars or endangering people nearby. Offences stemming from a disengaged handbrake leading to an accident can incur fines as steep as £2,500 and add penalty points to a driver's record, which can subsequently drive up insurance costs. Conway recognised that though opting for the gearbox rather than the handbrake could reduce wear on certain parts, it's still not worth the gamble of facing the fine. He explained: "Some drivers might argue that leaving their car in gear prevents unnecessary wear and tear on the handbrake, meaning lower maintenance costs further down the line. "But that view ignores crucial safety implications and is also a false economy when you consider how steep the fines are."
