All set for Mega Parent-Teacher Meet on July 10
The mega 'Parent Teacher Meeting' will be held in this direction on July 10 across the district. Speaking to the media on Saturday, District Collector Dr S Venkateswar stated that this event follows last year's successful meet organised by the State Education department.
At the district level, the programme will be conducted under the supervision of the in-charge Minister Angani Satya Prasad. The event will see widespread participation from elected representatives including MLAs, MLCs, MPs, ZPTC, MPTC members, MPPs, and Sarpanches.
The programme will be simultaneously held in all government and private schools, government and private junior colleges, and intermediate colleges across the district.
Dr Venkateswar said that the meet was aimed at building mutual understanding among students, teachers and parents. 'It will be conducted in a festive environment with a focus on holistic educational development,' he said. The event will start at 9 am and continue until lunch, where parents, students, and public representatives will participate in a community meal.
Feedback on the mid-day meal will also be collected from parents, and a special menu has already been finalised for the day.
As part of the event, Holistic Progress Reports of students will be handed over to their parents. 'Sarvepalli Radhakrishna kits' have already been distributed to students in the district.
Children participating in the event will wear government-issued uniforms, and the 'Thalliki Vandanam' amount has already been deposited into mothers' accounts.
For those with Aadhaar-related technical issues, the district will ensure the pending amounts are credited within 2-3 weeks, provided the Aadhaar details are updated by July 10.
Aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam Par', the event will also include a tree plantation drive, where students will plant a sapling in the name of their mother.
The social forestry and education departments will ensure adequate sapling supply to all schools.
Private school managements are also being engaged to ensure their participation.
In case of space constraints, schools are encouraged to collaborate and hold the programme jointly at a common venue.
The Collector noted that the health department will inform parents about students' health status as part of the programme.
The meeting was attended by RIO Rajasekhar, Samagra Siksha Superintendent Suresh and other officials.

The Congress on Sunday accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of conspiring with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to disenfranchise voters in Bihar while criticising the Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls (SIR) being carried out in the poll-bound state. According to ECI, all individuals whose names weren't included in the 2003 electoral rolls need to prove that they are actual citizens of India, by submitting any one out of 11 documents, such as a birth certificate or ID card issued by the government. ECI says this revision is necessary due to rapid urbanisation and migration in Bihar, non-reported deaths, and concerns about illegal foreign immigrants. The list of documents asked for has been criticised on the basis that it doesn't include commonly available documents such as Aadhaar card or a voter card, although ECI has clarified that the list is supposed to be 'indicative, not exhaustive.' Taking to X, Kharge said that public opposition has forced ECI and the BJP to backtrack. Referring to an ad posted by ECI, which asked voters to fill out the necessary form and submit to their Booth Level Officer (BLO) even if they didn't have the required supporting documents, he said – 'This is part of the BJP's tactic to mislead and confuse the public… Bihar is the birthplace of democracy. The people of Bihar will surely respond to this BJP attack on democracy and the Constitution in the upcoming elections.' ECI has denied the claims that there have been any modifications to the procedure of the SIR. 'SIR is being conducted as per instructions dated 24.06.2025 only as there is no change in the instructions', it said. The poll body also warned the public about 'incorrect and misleading statements' being made by unnamed persons to confuse people.

KTR demands probe into urea shortage in Telangana
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K. T. Rama Rao on Sunday demanded an investigation into the fertiliser shortage in Telangana. He lashed out at Congress government over the fertiliser shortage and asked it to explain to farmers why there is a statewide shortage of 1.94 lakh metric tonnes. "Why has the price of a sack of urea, which should be ₹266.50, now become ₹325? This should be explained not just to farmers but to all the people of the state," he said in a post on X. "Who is running this black-market business from behind the scenes? Who is causing this artificial shortage, and who are the middlemen hoarding even fertilisers? An investigation must be conducted immediately," the BRS leader said. KTR wanted to know why the government is unable to give the farmer even a sack of fertiliser, even after making Aadhaar cards mandatory. The BRS leader alleged that the government failed to implement Rythu Bharosa or waive farm loans. Even if farmers take loans for farming, there is a shortage of fertilisers. The urea shortage in the state has threatened farming activity during the Kharif season. The shortage has resulted in the price of urea rising to Rs 325 per 45-kg bag against the subsidised rate of Rs 266.50 to Rs 268. Last week, Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao urged the Centre to act immediately to ensure a timely and sufficient supply of urea. In a letter to Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers Jagat Prakash Nadda, he appealed for urgent steps to address the acute shortage of urea during the ongoing agricultural season. The state minister mentioned that the Centre allocated five lakh tonnes of urea to Telangana for April, May and June but supplied only 3.06 lakh tonnes, leaving the state grappling with a shortfall of 1.94 lakh tonnes. Rao also wrote a letter to Union Ministers from Telangana G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, urging them to request the Centre to ensure immediate supply of urea to overcome the shortage.
