Free agent edge rusher Von Miller has three "very interested" teams

NBC Sports17 hours ago
Several big-name free agents remain without a home for 2025 as training camps approach. Von Miller is one of those.
The edge rusher, who the Bills cut on March 9, said this summer that he wants to continue his career.
NFL Network's Brian Baldinger, who played college football with Miller's agent, said Joby Branion told him Miller has 'three very interested teams.'
'I think Von feels like there's a pretty good chance he's going to sign some point either before camp or -- I mean, I don't think Von's too crazy about going to training camp,' Baldinger told the DNVR Broncos podcast. 'Most guys that age aren't. They know what they need to do. He looks in great shape. So, I would say he's going to get signed here [relatively soon].'
The Bills saved $8.4 million in salary cap space by cutting Miller, who signed a six-year, $120 million deal before the 2022 season. In three seasons in Buffalo, Miller played 36 of a possible 50 games and totaled 14 sacks, 41 tackles and 23 quarterback hits.
Miller is an eight-time Pro Bowler and a two-time Super Bowl champion.

Ice Cube shares honest thoughts on Tom Brady joining Raiders ownership

Let's get a meeting on the books Tom🤝 The rap legend and unofficial president of Raider Nation, Ice Cube, is embracing the Las Vegas Raiders' new minority owner, former seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady. It's never a bad thing to be associated with the greatest winner in NFL history, even if his actual contributions remain a mystery. No one expects Brady to be in the actual trenches working to turn the Raiders' franchise around, but he should be around for a suggestion or two if the team needs it. "I mean Tom, I think he's a winner. I don't know how much he really can do, you know? But add a lot of suggestions to the suggestion box," Cube said in a recent social media upload from Games with Names. It's worth noting that the New England Patriots are slated to host their season-opener against the Las Vegas Raiders in Foxborough on September 7. That will come nearly a full month after Brady's statue is scheduled to be unveiled outside of Gillette Stadium. There could be more camera cuts to the press box than a Taylor Swift-attended Kansas City Chiefs game for that matchup. Follow Patriots Wire on Twitter and Facebook.

Commanders Retiring Hall of Fame Receiver Art Monk's No. 81

The Washington Commanders said Tuesday they are retiring Hall of Fame wide receiver Art Monk's No. 81 this season. Monk is the sixth player in franchise history to get that honor, joining Darrell Green, Sammy Baugh, Bobby Mitchell, Sonny Jurgensen and Sean Taylor. The team announced that Monk would have his number retired on November 2, when the Commanders host the Seattle Seahawks for a Sunday night game in Week 9 of the upcoming NFL season. Monk was part of all three of Washington's Super Bowl teams during the organization's glory days and is arguably one of the greatest players in franchise history. He played 14 of his 16 NFL seasons with Washington before finishing his career with the New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles. From his debut in 1980 through 1993, Monk caught 888 passes for 12,026 yards and 65 touchdowns during the regular season and 69 passes for 1,062 yards and seven TDs in the playoffs. An All-Pro pick in 1982 and a three-time Pro Bowl selection, Monk was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2008. The Commanders did not retire any player numbers for most of their history. Other than Baugh, whose number was honored in 1953, the Commanders did not retire any numbers until 2020 when Mitchell's turn came up, kicking off a stretch of five retired numbers in six years. While Monk's number was not retired by the Commanders until 2025, no player in a Washington uniform has worn it since he last put it on in 1993. The Associated Press contributed to this report. Jim Kelly dealing with ‘darkest days' during newborn grandson's health emergency

Bills legend Jim Kelly and his family are asking fans for prayers amid heartbreaking news about the health of Kelly's newborn grandson. The quarterback's grandson, who was born last week, is dealing with 'unexpected medical conditions,' according to a Bills statement from last Thursday. On Monday, Kelly, 65, reposted the statement on Instagram, writing as part of a lengthy caption: 'We never imagined we would be here in this place of heartbreak and suffering again. Please pray for our daughter Erin, her husband Parker, and their precious newborn baby boy.' Advertisement The news comes 20 years after Kelly's son, Hunter, died at age 8 in August 2005 after being diagnosed with Krabbe Leukodystrophy. Hunter's condition and tragic death inspired Kelly and his wife, Jill, to launch a foundation, Hunter's Hope, that researches treatments for Krabbe Leukodystrophy and broadens public awareness about the disease.
