People have been warned not to harass and intimidate staff at the controversial Cosmeston Lakes Aqua Park. Plans to move the Cardiff Bay Aqua Park to the eastern lake at the park near Penarth were unveiled in May with an opening date set for July 5.
A trial of the inflatable water course is set to last eight weeks over the summer months. But the plans have sparked fierce backlash from local residents, environmentalists and conservation groups who argue it poses a threat to both public safety and sensitive wildlife habitats.

Since the plans were announced, a number of peaceful protests have been organised by opponents, including on June 14 when hundreds gathered to form a "human chain" around the lake.

Then, on June 25, just 10 days before the scheduled opening, a demonstration was planned outside the Senedd in Cardiff Bay.

However, the group involved in organising peaceful action against the aqua park has condemned members of the public who "intimidate", "embarrass" or "insult" staff who have been on site setting up the attraction.
Save Cosmeston and the Vale shared a statement on Facebook implying that young workers were among those targeted, adding: "We do not condone this."

The statement reads: "Just a reminder here that we are not here to intimidate staff of the aqua park or embarrass them, they are not the issue in this battle.
"They are merely people trying to earn a living and should not be made uncomfortable in any sort of way.
"Especially young people who are just expanding their skill set. We do not condone any harassment / insults / embarrassment to any of the aqua park staff.

"Any members of the public that have been known to, or will in the future engage in actions that do this, should know that we do not condone this and will not be associated with the group further.
"All the hard work done by the group and the members of the community so far cannot be discredited by this behaviour and it does not align with any of our values or the messages we have put out at any protest.
"We believe in legal, respectful and viable methods of opposing the aqua park. Thank you."

Confidence that Llanharan bypass work will start as soon as possible

Confidence that Llanharan bypass work will start as soon as possible The council leader says it is a priority and that he is confident it will start in earnest once it gets planning permission Cold and frosty weather in Llanharan, as all of Wales will be feeling colder (Image: WalesOnline/Rob Browne ) The Llanharan bypass is a 'priority' for RCT council with the leader saying he's confident work will start in earnest once it gets planning permission and a contractor is appointed. Councillor Andrew Morgan was responding to a question from Brynna and Llanharan councillor Janine Turner at Rhondda Cynon Taf full council on Wednesday, June 25 who said that the statement earlier this year that the Llanharan Sustainable Transport Corridor had been given the go-ahead following a redesign was very welcome news. ‌ She asked the leader for update on the progress made since then and to outline some of the key steps for the scheme to be delivered. ‌ Cllr Morgan said the scheme was a priority for the council and that there had been a lot of work going on in the background to take it forward. The council has allocated £5.05m in the capital programme towards the project. He said the scheme had been 'redefined' in terms of embedding sustainable transport policies while still seeking to take the bulk of the traffic out of Llanharan. Article continues below The scheme was delayed because of the roads review by Welsh Government but the council has now had the green light to take it forward. To get all the latest politics, health and education news, sign up to our Wales Matters newsletter. The council is working on a funding package but the next key stage is that the pre-planning application consultation is expected to start during September and October. All the consultation documents will be made available online and in person at Llantrisant Leisure Centre from September 19 to October 17 with consultation days to be organised in Llanharan itself in October. ‌ Cllr Morgan said the road scheme is very much in line with what they previously looked at in terms of the corridor and it doesn't deviate much from that but has just been redesigned in terms of things like landscaping and drainage. He said 'what that does mean is that we substantially reduce in-built carbon' which will be close to 20,000 tonnes and the ancient woodland has been protected. They've also looked at junctions and making sure there's a good flow of buses and that they don't get caught up in traffic. ‌ 'There's an awful lot of small changes but the primary thing is the scheme is going ahead as far as we're concerned. We will need to get planning permission. 'We are in conversation with Welsh Government. We are committed to this in terms of using some CIL (community infrastructure levy) funding from the housing development down there and committing our own funds.' He also said they'd secured some further money around the active travel element. Article continues below Cllr Morgan said that once they do get planning and appoint a contractor 'I am confident the scheme will start in earnest'.

Residents angry over state of Cardiff park which council is refusing to take on

Residents angry over state of Cardiff park which council is refusing to take on The park, built as part of a brand new housing development in 2012, has been eyesore for some time and Cardiff council are still not taking it on from the developer Persimmon Homes The playground at Wyncliffe Gardens in Pentwyn, Cardiff, has yet to be handed over to Cardiff council 12 years after it was built (Image: John Myers ) Residents are angry about a neglected park in Cardiff which was built 13 years ago but has still not been taken on by Cardiff council. The playground at Wyncliffe Gardens in Pentwyn was built at the time the estate was constructed well over a decade ago as part of the developer Persimmon's section 106 obligations. But it is still in the hands of Persimmon because the council won't take it on as it stands. In a statement to WalesOnline this week a council spokesperson confirmed the local authority has been working towards adopting the playground for years. ‌ It will only take the site on once it is satisfied Persimmon has restored the area to a certain standard. Never miss a Cardiff story by signing up to our daily newsletter here ‌ Locals say the park is an eyesore and dangerous. When we visited this week some said it was an embarrassment to the community. Parts of the playground were no longer there, including a missing swing and in some cases whole apparatus were missing and the surface was sticking out. When we visited this week some said it was an embarrassment to the community (Image: John Myers ) Liberal Democrat councillor Joseph Carter said many parents feel they can no longer use it. He said: 'It is shocking seeing the Wyncliffe Gardens delay so much over the years and neither Persimmon or Cardiff council step in to make it safe. "When my children were younger we'd come here as it was one of our best playgrounds. Now it is dangerous and has been seriously neglected. We need to find a solution and get this playground brought back up to safe standards.' ‌ A spokesperson for the council explained: 'The play area at Wyncliffe Gardens was installed by Persimmon Homes in 2012 as part of their section 106 obligations and remains their responsibility. "The council has been working towards adopting the site for some years. 'To ensure that the developers fulfil their section 106 responsibilities this process is subject to existing defects being corrected by Persimmon Homes including restoration of the play area to the necessary standards and a satisfactory financial agreement being reached for ongoing maintenance.' ‌ In some parts of the playground parts of the surface were sticking up (Image: John Myers ) There are concerns locally that until the council agrees to take on the playground it will continue to be in a generally poor state (Image: John Myers ) There are concerns locally that until the council agrees to take on the playground it will continue to be in a generally poor state. ‌ A spokesperson for Persimmon responded: 'We understand the community's concerns regarding the condition of the playground and apologise for the inconvenience caused. "We can confirm we'd previously met with Cardiff council to agree the steps needed for adoption, including a schedule of remedial works and a commuted sum. "While finalising these arrangements has taken longer than expected, we've instructed commencement of the necessary works to ensure the adoption process can move forward.
