Elderly man feared fallen into Sungai Muar from bridge in Tangkak
Tangkak police chief Supt Roslan Mohd Talib confirmed that authorities received a report at 8.54 am from the victim's son, who was unable to contact his father. The elderly man had left his home in Kampung Parit Tunggul, Kundang Ulu, around 6 am, wearing a short-sleeved checkered shirt and a blue kain pelikat.
Roslan stated, 'The victim drove off in a grey Mazda CX-5, which a member of the public later found.' A call to the man's mobile phone was answered by the individual who discovered the vehicle, raising concerns that he may have fallen into the river.
A search and rescue operation was launched involving the police, Fire and Rescue Department, Civil Defence Force, and local villagers. As of 9 pm, the victim has not been located.
Roslan added, 'The case is investigated as a missing person. The public is advised against speculating on the incident.' - Bernama

Bank officer loses RM241,700 in online vehicle scam
KUALA TERENGGANU: A bank officer lost his entire savings, including EPF funds, amounting to RM241,700 in an elaborate online vehicle purchase scam. The victim, a 52-year-old man, fell prey to a fraudulent advertisement for a used four-wheel-drive vehicle on Facebook. Kuala Terengganu police chief ACP Azli Mohd Noor stated that the incident began on July 4 when the victim responded to the advertisement. He communicated with the supposed seller via WhatsApp and was asked to provide a copy of his identity card along with an advance payment. 'Between July 9 and 21, the victim made 40 transactions to eight different accounts, totalling RM241,700,' Azli said. The scam escalated when the suspect demanded an additional RM31,000 for alleged fingerprinting costs at the Royal Malaysian Customs Department. The victim realised he had been deceived and lodged a police report yesterday morning. The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating. - Bernama

Missing after boats collide

SEMPORNA: A man in his 40s has been reported missing while fishing off water near Balimbang jetty, Pulau Bum Bum, here, on Saturday. The man, identified as Balsiti Utumani disappeared when the wooden boat he boarded in with his friend was hit by another boat. According to the witness, the crash knocked them off into the water and during the incident, he could not see Balsiti. He also failed to recognized the boat that crashed into their boat due to darkness. The man was discovered by a passing boat and sent home to Kampung Halo, Semporna. He then received treatment at Semporna Hospital and was allowed to return home at 8am. The Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said the department received a distress call from the Police following the incident at 6.15am and deployed a team of Fire and Rescue personnel to the scene. The team was informed that a man was feared missing after he went fishing at about 4am on Saturday. 'A Search and Rescue (SAR) operation was launched with the other agencies within a three-kilometre radius. Police seize 936 fighting cocks, arrest trio in Sabah raid
PAPAR: Police seized 936 fighting cocks of Philippine breed and arrested three men, including two foreigners, during a raid in Kampung Kambizaan, Sabah. The operation, conducted on Friday, was a joint effort between Bukit Aman's Internal Security and Public Order Department and the Kota Kinabalu Veterinary Services Department. Datuk Seri Azmi Abu Kassim, director of Bukit Aman's Internal Security and Public Order Department, confirmed the arrests and seizures. 'Among the items seized were 30 iron cages, 107 tagging rods from the Philippines, and various types of vitamins and medications for the birds,' he said in a statement. The suspects, aged between 38 and 59, included an Indonesian and a Filipino national. The trio is being investigated under Section 15(1) of the Animals Enactment 2015 for allegedly importing animals without a licence. The total estimated value of the seized items is RM4.7 million. In a separate nationwide crackdown, police conducted 179 raids, arresting 314 individuals for offences including smuggling of non-duty paid goods, controlled item leaks, imitation weapon sales, wildlife trafficking, and e-waste operations.
