Watch: President Droupadi Murmu Joins Yoga Day Celebrations In Uttarakhand
President Droupadi Murmu took part in the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations at Uttarakhand's Dehradun on Saturday, along with Governor Gurmeet Singh.
The program organised at Police Lines, Dehradun is part of the nationwide celebration of Yoga on International Yoga Day with the theme 'Yoga For One Earth, For One Health.' The 11th annual Yoga day celebrations have seen wide participation from states across the country.
Visuals from Police lines showed President Murmu doing asanas with the governor and other officials. The President is in Uttarakhand as part of a three-day visit to the state which will be concluding today.

During her visit, on June 20 President Murmu graced the opening of Rashtrapati Niketan for public viewing and also visited the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities where she witnessed an exhibition and Model School Science Lab and interact with the students. On the same day she also released a postage stamp on Raj Bhavan, Nainital, on the completion of its 125 years.
Earlier today, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nationwide Yoga day celebrations from Vishakapatnam, he urged the international community to embrace "inner peace" as a "global policy' and make yoga a collective global responsibility.
"I would like to take this opportunity to urge the global community on this important occasion to let this International Yoga Day mark the beginning of Yoga for Humanity. Let this be the day when inner peace becomes a global policy, where yoga is embraced not just as a personal practice, but as a powerful tool for global partnership and unity. Let every country and every society make yoga a shared responsibility, a common contribution toward collective well-being," the Prime Minister said.
The event was held along the scenic Visakhapatnam coastline, with Indian Navy ships stationed near the shore, adding to the grandeur of the celebration.
PM Modi was joined by lakhs of yoga enthusiasts, residents, and dignitaries from Andhra Pradesh.
Calling for a global mass movement through yoga, PM Modi said, "Come, let us all together make Yoga a mass movement. A movement that takes the world towards peace, health and harmony. Where every person starts the day with yoga and finds balance in life. Where every society is connected to yoga and free from stress. Where yoga becomes the medium to bind humanity together. And where Yoga For One Earth, One Health becomes a global resolution."
Multiple other leaders, including Chief Ministers of various states, multiple Union Ministers also participated in the Yoga day programs across the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Argentina on Saturday as part of his five-nation visit. The Indian community welcomed him in the capital, Buenos Aires. Laying out the itinerary of the PM's visit, Ambassador Kumar told ANI that the PM will pay homage to Jose de San Martin, widely regarded as the Father of the Argentine Nation, at the Plaza de San Martin in Buenos Aires. PM Modi will also hold delegation-level talks with Argentine President Javier Milei. Afterwards, he will visit the famous Boca Juniors Stadium to observe Argentine football. Ambassador Kumar also emphasised that this will be the Indian Prime Minister's first visit in over five decades and mentioned the "multifaceted" relations between both nations. "Prime Minister had the occasion to meet the President of Argentina last November during the G20 in Brazil. This visit will only consolidate the points discussed during the last meeting. India and Argentina relations are multifaceted. We have cooperation across a range of subjects. It was only last year that we celebrated 75 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries," he said. The rest of PM Narendra Modi's five-nation visit PM Modi is in Buenos Aires at the official invitation of the President of the Republic of Argentina. After completing his visit to Argentina, PM Modi will head to Brazil from July 5 to July 8 to attend the 17th BRICS Summit 2025. In the final leg of his five-nation tour, the PM will visit Namibia and also address its parliament.

Shinde chants 'Jai Gujarat', draws flak from Oppn
Mumbai: Deputy chief minister and Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde on Friday ended a speech at an event in Pune attended by union home minister Amit Shah with the slogan 'Jai Gujarat', setting off a controversy with opposition parties slamming him and alleging that his real face had been revealed as he had shown his loyalty to Shah who hails from Gujarat. Shinde, however, defended the action in the evening, saying he had simply hailed the Gujarati community as he was attending their function. His remarks came amid a row in Maharashtra over the imposition of Hindi in schools and violent incidents in Bhayandar and Pune, wherein shopkeepers and traders were attacked for refusing to speak in Marathi. After videos of Shinde's speech surfaced on social media, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut referred to the Shinde-led Shiv Sena as (Amit) Shah Sena, and said, 'It is not surprising. Shinde's Sena was born in Gujarat with Shah's blessings.' Raut was referring to events during the split in the Shiv Sena in 2022, when Shinde and MLAs from his faction were holed up in Surat. The Shiv Sena (UBT) MP also posted two separate videos of Shinde's speech in Pune on social media, saying, 'Shah Sena! Amit Shah's duplicate's Shiv Sena's true face was exposed today. In Pune this man (Eknath Shinde) gave the slogan 'Jai Gujarat'! What to do? How can this man remain in the Maharashtra cabinet.' NCP (SP) national spokesperson Clyde Crasto said though the Shiv Sena claimed to represent the Marathi manoos, they were lusting for power and trying to please Amit Shah. 'When Eknath Shinde was made chief minister, many projects meant for Maharashtra went to Gujarat. Now, it is proved that Shinde was working for the benefit of Gujarat,' Crasto said. State Congress chief spokesperson Atul Londhe said Shinde was only saluting his master Amit Shah as he wants to become chief minister again. Shinde, who reached Mumbai in the evening, clarified his stand in a hurriedly convened press conference. The function had been organised by the Gujarati community and he was only appreciating them for building a sports complex which could be used by all, the deputy chief minister said. 'The Gujarati community has been living here for decades and contributed to the progress of Maharashtra,' Shinde said. He also showed a video of Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray purportedly speaking at a function in Gujarat, where he too said 'Jai Gujarat'. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis supported Shinde, saying leaders make remarks at functions they attend according to the sentiments of people in front of them. Hailing Gujarat was not the same as hating Maharashtra, he clarified. 'If Shinde has said so, it does not mean that he has no love for Marathi. Leaders speak according to the sentiments of people sitting in front of them. It is a narrow minded thought to criticise him for it,' Fadnavis said. Even Sharad Pawar had said 'Jai Karnataka' while inaugurating the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Chikodi in Karnataka in the past, he noted, adding, 'That does not mean that he loves Karnataka more than Maharashtra.' Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut responded to Fadnavis' remarks, saying Thackeray and Pawar had hailed Gujarat and Karnataka respectively when they were speaking in those states. 'In the case of Shinde, he spoke in Pune which is in Maharashtra. What was the need to utter the slogan except to appease someone,' he said. Meanwhile, NCP – the third major partner in the ruling alliance – said the controversy should have been avoided. 'Eknath Shinde is a responsible politician. It would have been better if he had avoided this,' said NCP spokesperson Sanjay Tatkare.
