Viraj Kapoor opened up about what drew him to the character and how he mentally prepares to portray a negative role.
Television actor Viraj Kapoor has been winning hearts in popular historical drama Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. With his gripping portrayal of the powerful antagonist Nagarjuna, he is bringing plenty of drama, action and unexpected twists in the show. Recently, he sat for an interview with a media portal where he shared his excitement about stepping into this intense role.
In an interview with ETimes, Viraj opened up about what drew him to the character and how he mentally prepares to portray a negative role. Moreover, he spoke about working with popular actor Ronit Roy, who was playing a significant role in the show as well.
Revealing that the depth of Nagarjuna's character was the main reason he decided to accept the role. 'When I learned how powerful this character is and the kind of impact it leaves on the show every time, I knew I had to do it. In the 5th episode, viewers get to know that he has killed his own brother. By the 10th episode, he betrays his father and later plans to kill Ronit Roy's character. There are a lot of things that this character offers. When I got to know about the character, I got very excited and decided to do it," Viraj stated.
Known for his versatile acting, Viraj is not new to playing negative roles. He has stepped into the role of an antagonist in several shows. Sharing his experience, he explained, 'I've played many negative roles before, so I have never struggled with keeping distinctions. As an actor, it's important to know when to switch on and switch off from the role, which personally I know with time. While shooting, you have to immerse yourself completely in the character, otherwise, fans won't enjoy what they see."
Viraj also expressed his enthusiasm about working with acclaimed actor Ronit Roy. In a chat with Zoom, the young actor said, 'I've admired Ronit sir since the beginning. I had never worked with him. In the beginning, I was nervous, but not scared. The person whom you've seen since childhood—you like their qualities, but when you work with them, you need to keep that excitement aside. Because if you are in a zone of excitement, you can't perform."
As the main villain in Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, Viraj's character plays an important role in shaping the storyline. Nagarjuna's betrayal and power struggles bring a significant twist to the plot, especially with his menacing plans to kill King Someshwar (played by Ronit Roy).
Before Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, Viraj Kapoor was seen playing significant roles in shows like Tera Yaar Hoon Main, Kulfi Kumar Bajewala and Nadaan Parindey Ghar Aaja.

Alia Bhatt Broke Up With Sidharth Malhotra In Anger? Said 'Baad Main Regret Karte Ho'

Varun Dhawan teased Alia Bhatt about her breakup with Sidharth Malhotra and hinted that the decision was taken out of anger. Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra briefly dated after making their debuts together in Student of the Year. While neither has explicitly accepted this speculation, they have frequently dropped hints and even revealed that Alia's cat Edward was given to her by Sidharth. In a resurfaced interaction, Varun Dhawan teased Alia Bhatt about her alleged breakup with Sidharth. During the promotions of Kalank, in reference to the film's trailer, Alia Bhatt was asked if she had ever made any decisions out of anger, which ended up ruining people's lives. Poking fun at Alia, Varun asked, 'Aapne kabhi koi faisla liya hai jisne aapke ghar pe logo ko affect kiya hai ya aapki billi ko?" This left Alia smiling awkwardly. She replied, 'Mujhe toh nahi lagta hai." Varun said, 'Aapke kisi decision ki wajah se…" Alia interrupted and reiterated, 'Mujhe toh nahi lagta hai ki maine aisa kuch decision liya hai jisse sabki zindagi barbaad hui ho. But, obviously, sometimes you make some decisions in anger jo aap baad main regret karte ho. Voh sabke saath hota hai. I don't think I've ruined anybody's life." Varun Dhawan hinted that Alia Bhatt broke up with Sidharth Malhotra in anger. Sidharth Malhotra has hinted multiple times that he gifted her the cat Edward during their relationship. On an older episode of Koffee With Karan, Sidharth was asked what he'd like to 'steal" from Alia, his answer was: 'The cat… Edward." He also advised people not to gift pets to their girlfriends. This speculation was confirmed in a later episode of the show when Alia Bhatt thanked Sidharth, 'Because he has given me the first love of my life, Edward." Meanwhile, years after their breakup, Alia and Sidharth are in happy marriages and are even parents to baby girls. Alia Bhatt married Ranbir Kapoor and gave birth to Raha Kapoor. Sidharth Malhotra recently welcomed his first child with Kiara Advani. The couple is yet to announce their daughter's name. Alia Bhatt reacted to the good news by 'liking' the couple's announcement on Instagram. Alia's mother, Soni Razdan, also sent her love in the comments section. Vir Das Does Not Know Kapil Sharma 'Very Well': 'He Is So Much Of Your Punjabi...'

Vir Das says that while Kapil Sharma is a "Punjabi everyman travelling through India", he comes from a different background altogether. Vir Das has gained global recognition, but does he ever think about the fact that he hasn't gained the massive popularity in India in a way that Kapil Sharma or Zakir Khan does? In a recent interview, the Emmy award winner shared that he does not think a lot about it since his journey is very different from that of Kapil or Zakir. Das mentioned that while Kapil is a 'Punjabi everyman travelling through India", he comes from a different background altogether. 'Perhaps my journey is to have deeper interactions with a smaller group of people over a longer period of time. To do what both of them do, which is masterful in their own way, you have to be where they're from and have their own lived-in experiences. You can see Zakir grew up in classical music and poetry. And Kapil Sharma is so much your Punjabi everyman travelling through India. I'm not from anywhere. Unfortunately, I've grown up everywhere so I'll have to be who I am. If I ever tried to do that, you'd smell the inauthenticity in the material," Vir Das told SCREEN. Asked if he ever picks up anything from Kapil or Zakir, Vir Das nodded positively. However, the stand-up comedian explained that even though he does not know Kapil 'very well", they are connected due to the comedy circuit in India. 'I like watching art that makes you angry and makes you want to be better. I go to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe once a year, where I see a random 25-year-old comedian who's written a show that I was never capable of at 25. So I'll go back and write some more. But we all support each other. I did a trial show at Soho Theatre, London last month. Zakir was in town, he popped up and watched my whole thing. I don't know Kapil very well. Of course, we've met only intermittently. But comedians on the comedy circuit in India are always WhatsApping each other and are in each other's feedback loop," he added. On the work front, Vir Das is all set to return with his new Netflix special, 'Vir Das: Fool Volume," premiering July 18. Filmed in Mumbai, New York, and London, it showcases his signature multi-city format. On the other hand, Kapil Sharma's The Great Indian Kapil Show 3 is also currently streaming on Netflix.
