ABU DHABI (WAM) The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) achieved a significant milestone by winning three prestigious awards at the GovMedia Awards 2025 ceremony held in Singapore.The recognition was granted for three strategic initiatives in aviation cybersecurity, public awareness, and leadership development.In the category of "Cybersecurity Initiative of the Year – Aviation," the GCAA was awarded for its Civil Aviation Cybersecurity Enhancement Initiative, which was launched in response to the growing global cyber threats.The initiative established an integrated national framework that included the development of a national civil aviation cybersecurity strategy, the formation of specialised committees, the issuance of policies and technical guidelines, as well as the launch of a digital platform and online resource center for the aviation community.Within its first year, the initiative achieved tangible results, including a 30 percent reduction in cyberattack attempts and a 50 percent improvement in response time.In the category of "Campaign of the Year – Aviation," the GCAA won for its nationwide awareness campaign "Love Your Sky," which successfully conveyed aviation messages to diverse segments of the public in a creative and engaging manner.The campaign featured digital content, visual storytelling, and educational experiences, with the participation of more than 36 strategic partners from both government and private sectors. It attracted thousands of participants and interactions across digital platforms, significantly raising public awareness of aviation safety and security.In the "Training Program of the Year – Aviation" category, the GCAA was recognised for its Leadership Development Programme, an institutional initiative aimed at developing a new generation of qualified leaders capable of driving transformation within the authority. The programme focuses on strategic thinking, crisis management, and decision-making skills, and is delivered through interactive workshops and real-world case studies.
This triple achievement reflects the GCAA's vision of sustainable investment in national talent and its leading role in advancing the aviation sector in line with the highest international standards, further cementing the UAE's position as a global hub for innovation in civil aviation.

The Smart and Autonomous Systems Council (SASC) supported the flight, which was witnessed by leadership from the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), the Integrated Transport Centre, Abu Dhabi Aviation and Abu Dhabi Airports, along with representatives from Archer's regional partners. Archer Aviation advances UAE air mobility The test flight focused on evaluating the aircraft's vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) performance in UAE conditions including temperature, humidity and dust exposure. The flight allows Archer to validate readiness for commercial deployment. Following this milestone, Archer will expand its flight-testing programme for Midnight in the region, gathering data to support its certification and commercialisation plans in both the Emirates and other markets. 'This flight marks a significant step towards realising Abu Dhabi's ambition to lead the world in advanced urban air mobility. Through the Smart and Autonomous Vehicles Industry (SAVI) Cluster, we are enabling companies like Archer to test, certify and scale next-generation air mobility solutions, reinforcing our position as a global launchpad for innovation and a hub for transformative technologies,' Badr Al-Olama, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Investment Office said. The test flight supports Archer's Launch Edition commercialisation programme with Abu Dhabi Aviation, which aims to establish air taxi services in Abu Dhabi. The announcement comes as Archer continues to advance its certification and commercialisation efforts in the UAE and beyond, building on achievements including regulatory design approval for the country's first hybrid heliport at Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal and ongoing partnerships with regional operators. 'Our initial test flight operations in the UAE represent a critical milestone as we prepare for our commercial deployment in Abu Dhabi. Testing our aircraft in actual operating conditions in the middle of summer provides us with the data we need to progress our commercial and certification efforts both in the UAE and in the US,' Adam Goldstein, CEO and Founder of Archer Aviation added. The Launch Edition programme represents Archer's approach to establishing commercial operations in early adopter markets. Abu Dhabi's role as Archer's first Launch Edition market positions the emirate as a leader in urban air mobility deployment, demonstrating Abu Dhabi's commitment to transport and mobility solutions.

3 July 2025 12:22 ABU DHABI (WAM) ADNOC's Hail and Ghasha mega-project has met a key development milestone, having completed the "sail-out" and installation of critical offshore facility structures from the NMDC Energy Yard in Mussafah, Abu structures – called steel 'jackets' – form the foundation of the project's offshore facilities. Delivered on schedule and in line with the highest safety and quality standards, the first 2 jackets were transferred from the fabrication yard to the cargo barge and shipped 160 kilometres offshore for installation by NMDC's Safeen-3000 vessel where they were precisely positioned on the achievement reflects the exceptional coordination and expertise of dedicated project teams and partners, ensuring the structure's secure anchoring and readiness for the next stage of offshore infrastructure Hail and Ghasha Development Project is the world's largest gas development of its kind and an important enabler of gas self-sufficiency and the UAE's growing gas Concession will produce 1.5 billion standard cubic feet of natural gas per day – enough to meet the daily gas demand of Ireland, Greece and Portugal combined. It aims to operate with net-zero emissions, capturing 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 annually, equivalent to removing over 300,000 fossil fuel-powered cars off the Al Kaabi, ADNOC Upstream CEO, said, 'ADNOC's Hail and Ghasha project is an important enabler of UAE gas self-sufficiency, and this sail-out puts us one step closer to delivering on the project. The mega-project is being made in the Emirates, driving industrial growth and reinforcing the UAE's advanced manufacturing capabilities.'Hail and Ghasha embodies the ethos of the 'Make it in the Emirates' initiative and ADNOC's success in boosting In-Country Value, by prioritising local manufacturing, investing in UAE-based suppliers, supporting economic diversification and nurturing local talent. With 118 UAE graduates recruited across the project to date, this provides highly skilled career opportunities for UAE nationals to play a key role in delivering this world-scale project.
