The UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has secured three major accolades at the GovMedia Awards 2025 in Singapore, recognising its groundbreaking work in aviation cybersecurity, public outreach, and leadership development. The GCAA's Civil Aviation Cybersecurity Enhancement Initiative earned the title of Cybersecurity Initiative of the Year – Aviation . Launched to address escalating global cyber threats, the initiative delivered a comprehensive national strategy, specialised committees, technical policies, and a digital resource hub. Within its first year, the programme led to a 30% drop in cyberattack attempts and halved response times. The authority also received the Campaign of the Year – Aviation award for its public initiative, Love Your Sky . The campaign used digital storytelling and educational tools to promote aviation awareness, engaging thousands of participants through collaborations with over 36 public and private sector partners. Completing the trio of wins, the GCAA's Leadership Development Program was honoured as Training Program of the Year – Aviation . The initiative focuses on strategic thinking, crisis management, and decision-making through interactive training, aiming to equip future leaders in the aviation sector. KUCHING (June 22): The Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak (DVSS) has won the 'Malaysia Sustainability Initiative of the Year – Agriculture category' at the GovMedia Awards 2025, held recently in Singapore. According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the award recognises DVSS' exemplary effort in transforming the state's agricultural landscape through its Pasir Puteh Pig Farming Area (PFA). DVSS director Datu Dr Adrian Susin Ambud received the award at the ceremony. 'The GovMedia Awards recognise trends and best practices that are transforming the public sector across the Asia Pacific. 'The awards programme promotes excellence and provides a platform for exemplary government initiatives,' the report stated. The Pasir Puteh PFA, located in Simunjan, spans 804 hectares and is situated just four kilometres off the main Serian-Sri Aman Road. Its development aligns with the National Agriculture Policy's vision of modernising the livestock industry. Since its establishment, the facility has implemented centralised systems for waste treatment and disease control, as an effort to enhance efficiency and sustainability. The PFA also employs stringent biosecurity measures to prevent disease outbreaks and ensure animal health, safeguarding both consumer wellbeing and environmental quality. Since 2017, the facility has exported over 675,000 porkers worth RM742.5 million to Singapore. The current standing pig population (SPP) at the PFA is estimated at 135,000 heads. The Pasir Puteh PFA aims to reach its full capacity of 250,000 SPP by 2030. This expansion will include the development of additional modern pig farms in Ensengei, Serian and Selangau, Sibu, with a projected combined capacity of 500,000 SPP. These initiatives are expected to contribute RM1.5 billion in annual revenue, positioning Sarawak as a key regional exporter of pork products.

MyJPJ app earns RTD GovMedia Award in Singapore

KUALA LUMPUR: The Road Transport Department (RTD) Malaysia received the award for the category "Digital Transformation of the Year – Transportation", in conjunction with the GovMedia Awards 2025 in Singapore yesterday. RTD represented the country by highlighting the MyJPJ application. "This success reflects RTD's continuous efforts in driving the digitalisation agenda of public services, particularly in the transportation sector, in line with the government's aspiration towards the digitalisation of service delivery systems," it said in a statement today. The GovMedia Awards 2025 is a platform to give recognition to government agencies and companies in the Asia-Pacific that implement high-impact initiatives. The assessment for the awards was conducted by a panel of professionals from leading global audit firms such as PwC, Ernst & Young (EY) and KPMG. Meanwhile, the department also expressed its gratitude to the Transport Ministry and all parties who have supported the implementation of its digitalisation initiatives.
